How do you stop small treats from turning into daily bad habits?
mum2dkl replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Because I have a house full of teens, it isn't always easy for me to simply not have tempting food in the cupboards. One thing I have done is cleared space just for my food. I have a shelf in the fridge, and one cupboard that's mine. I try to keep a pretty good variety so I don't get too burned out on any one thing. -
So very sorry you have had to go through this! Let's hope you'll be headed home to your babies very soon!

I am 8 days post op. My belly itches sooooo bad. Anyone else have this? If so, any advice?

I have been invited to a small Holiday Party. Knowing I was recently sleeved, the hostess is serving soup as the main course. She asked me to bring a dessert that is sleeve friendly for me, but I would also want the others to enjoy it of course. I am in the puréed phase. Any suggestions?

I agree, getting all the fluid and protein in is like a full time job. I am supposed to be getting 48 oz. of liquid. Haven't hit more than 32 yet. Have you tried sugar free Popsicles? Those seem to go down easiest for me. If it means anything, the dr. told me today not to worry too much about pooping as long as I wasn't feeling super bloated and uncomfortable. Let us know how Wed. goes, Brianna!

What did you tell people about your absence?
mum2dkl replied to Good apple's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am normally a very private person, but I knew once I started losing weight so rapidly there would just be too many questions. My biggest fear was people would think I was ill and not being straight up. And I didn't want to worry my friends and loved ones. So what I did was this. I waited until I had my surgery date and then posted this to Facebook: "My dear Facebook friends, A few of you know, and most of you don't, I will be having gastric sleeve weight loss surgery a week from today. This is something I have been researching and considering for a very long time. It is not a decision to be made lightly, as this will be life altering. It is certainly not the easy way out as some might think, and the reason I am sharing this with you is it is likely I will need your support at some point in this journey. I know some of you might have opinions about this that won't necessarily coincide with mine. That's fine. Just don't tell me. ???? Please just keep me in your thoughts as I embark on this exciting, scary, healthy new chapter of mine!" The outpouring of support I received and am continuing to receive has made me weep. Not one negative comment, and so very much love and support. Another plus? Now I feel my friends and family know, and I am going to want to prove to them I made the right decision. I will be held accountable in a way. I'm not going to be eating a second slice of birthday cake when everyone at the party knows I'm a sleever! I am going to make them proud! -
Hi All! I am back amongst the living. Surgery was fairly uneventful. I felt I had great care in the hospital. Spent 2nights and was glad to be home in my own bed last night! My main issue is getting in enough fluids. Glad my buddies are hanging in there.

I have so much to be thankful for, but still, this isn't a particularly easy day, is it? I'm on day 6 of my liquid pre-op diet. The turkey is in the oven and it is smelling heavenly. In a few hours there will be food in virtually every corner of the kitchen, dining and living room. I am going to sit down to my squash bisque, pumpkin protein shake, orange jello and applesauce. And I shall be thankful that my long awaited surgery date is almost here, and that I am surrounded by people who love me. There are so many people who are much worse off than I am today just because I can't have pumpkin pie!

Good luck tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you all! I am scheduled for 7:30 am. Can't believe it is finally here! Here's to a smooth surgery, quick healing and may we all live healthier and happily ever after!

Shopping for pre-op diet...suggestions?
mum2dkl replied to lizziebeth72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know all the pre-op diets are different, but I stocked up on yogurt (I like Dannon OIKOS Triple Zero), unsweetened applesauce, sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, tomato soup, chicken broth. I really like the Unjury protein powders. Made sure I got unflavored as well as Chocolate Spendor, Vanilla and the Chicken soup. Hope this helps? -
Well, I just had my last supper. Tomorrow I start my 10 day liquid pre-op and then surgery on the 30th. My life (with food) as I knew it is now over. The end. On to a much happier and healthier chapter! I have so much to look forward to! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and sharing this challenging and exciting journey with everyone! Sure am going to miss whoopie pies, though...
