Hello, all! :)
the messy stuff: I've been overweight (obese, really) since before I can remember. I started my long disordered history with food around age 12 when my mother passed away. Since those early teenage years, food has always been something I've used to soothe, comfort, and numb myself. I battled binge eating disorder, anxiety, and depression. Over the course of my life I've gain / lost / gained probably 100lbs, and am currently sitting at 170lbs overweight (and totally miserable).
silver lining: even thought I've faced a lot of trauma and hardships in my life, I am a very determined person. Which can be both a blessing (I'll try anything with 100% effort) and a curse (I'll try anything. haha). While this has lead me to try every. single. diet. and exercise program out there, it also hasn't really afforded me any success. Ever since having my daughter in 2010, it's been impossible for weight to come off. My doctors are stumped as to why my hormones can't balance out and my metabolism is shot.
which leads us to now: It's time. I'm ready to take on this permanent tool. I feel like I've been digging a hole to China for the past 20 years with my bare hands. I'm going to die trying to lose this weight and battle my eating disorder unless I get serious help. Enter in this journey! I'm blessed to live in a city with a nationally acclaimed hospital that practically pioneered this surgery. I'm just in the beginning of the approval / orientation process, and I could not be more excited! :D I feel like I finally have HOPE again, and that is everything. I hope to update this as things get rolling. Please add me as a friend and let's connect!! <3
