Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!
jintycb replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Buying dresses (my white Celtic legs haven't seen so much sun since I was in my 20s) as we now have summer here in the UK. Managed to easily fit into UK 10 USA 6 the other day-yay!!!! Having a slab of fillet steak to satisfy my newly acquired red meat cravings. Nicking the odd chunky chip off my husband's plate. Nicking the odd bit of milk chocolate from husband. Making real Caesar salad dressing and enjoying the DIVINE taste instead of eating shop bought dressing loaded with additives. Walking the dogs for at least four miles every morning (six and a half yesterday) and feeling wonderful. -

Proverbial very firmly wedged in cheek can be a very, very painful condition-for those of us reading the post whilst trying to drink a hot cuppa. Jeez, hot liquid streaming down the nostrils with explosive force is just sooooo uncomfortable. What do you vets recommend or should I just search for info online?[emoji848] -
I'm sooooo jealous. You lucky, lucky girl. I love all animals but was brought up with horses and they will always have a special place in my heart. I did spend a few summers looking after the horses and driving the carriages for visitors at Hampton Court Palace. Loved the work.

I know that I am only half way through my probationary period to being able to post on a proper vets forum but I just wanted to add my two pennyworth to this thread. I think the whole idea is FANTASTIC!! More power to all you qualified vets. You have helped me so much on my journey, sometimes by your replies to my often inane posts, and sometimes by my just reading what you have to say. You have welcomed me in and been my touchstone. I will stick to just reading posts on the site until my 18 months internship is over. Although I am still a newby, I get really cranked off with the same old, same old questions being asked time and time again. Yes, it's OK to just skip through things but sometimes it's like rowing through a sea of treacle just to get to the info you need. I also love be the humour that flies around between you vets. I need my fix of that on practically a daily basis. You rarely disappoint. To be honest, there ain't a lot of that (understandably) on threads from pre-op peeps. I also get riled when I read posts from pre-oppers advising on things that they have yet to experience. Go for it guys and more power to your elbows. -
I am in seventh heaven buying clothes and shoes!!!! Luckily, I am able to pull the wool over my husband's eyes when he enquires as to whether something is new-especially in the shoe department! It's so much fun now that I don't have to buy just tents and leggings to cover my frame. Ain't WLS just the best!!!!!!

Bariatric products v. Whole foods
jintycb replied to BiggiSmalls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with VSGAnne3014 about eating fresh foods. Since I was sleeved last October I have eaten only fresh, home made meals. I even threw out the flavoured protein drinks as the artificial sweeteners were just yuk! I bought whey isolate and devised all sorts of ways to get the drinks down my neck in an enjoyable form. It's amazing how inventive you can get. Once I was on solids I got into the habit of keeping some go-to foods in the fridge. Hard boiled eggs are a great stand-by for munchy moments. Turkey mince chilli is another great fridge and freezer staple. I make a huge pot and split some of it up into portions which I freeze and I keep some to dip into for a quick meal in the fridge. My other stand-by is a large container of mixed melon pieces which I munch with Parma or some other ham and black pepper. OK, so you can call deli meat 'processed' but in the grand scheme of things it ain't too bad. Besides which, it is a yummy and easy meal. I also cook gammon joints in the pressure cooker with veg to give it flavour. I then shred the meat so I always have that to pick at. Another favourite that you can find in my fridge is cooked salmon. I buy a large piece in Costco, cook it in the microwave and keep it, with the juices that appear during cooking, in the fridge. I've always got some prepared pineapple and mango as my sweet treats ready, again stored in my fridge. Most of these things can be slung into a container and taken with you for a bite to eat at work. Hope some of this helps. -
Dr KindaFamiliar will be available to answer your questions...

Fat chance you've got of getting a reply. I think he's having a mega sulk as we've exposed him for his lack of creditable qualifications. However, in his defence (God help me, I must be feeling charitable) he has the ability to make even the most world weary cynic laugh. He's worked his weird, warped, magical humour on me to the point I have spluttered out a gob full of tea (what a waste) and made me expel snot when I had a cold a couple of weeks ago. Oh for the love of God, jintycb... Where the f*ck is your question??? This is not a chat room... This is not your SpaceBook... Nor is it your Twatter!!! How about you and your goose take your pommy arse and.... Well, I don't know... But keep your jibber-jabber out of my very serious medical thread... NEXT!!!! Oooooooohhhhh Dr KF, there was I thinking that I was providing some soothing pictures for your patients and their stressed and frazzled psyches. Not according to you I'm not!!! Well Buster, just let me tell you, after a consultation with you it's not just their physical health that is in jeopardy!!!! I'm surprised that you don't dole out straight jackets out with each diagnosis as you quite obviously leave a trail of gibbering wrecks in your diagnostical wake. No wonder you're hanging up your stethoscope and forceps for a while. It's not that you are too busy to carry on practicing (and God knows, you needed all the practice that you can get!) it's because you know that your reign as a medical charlatan is OVER. Finished, ceased, no more. Now, what are you going to pretend to be next, hmmmmmmm? The mind boggles. Donald Trump's campaign manager maybe? x -
Getting VSG in August at the age of 54
jintycb replied to tab143's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was 59 when I had my VSG last October. I only wish that I had done it sooner as the results are nothing short of miraculous. OK so I have to do some of the hard work but just having the 'stop' button that the sleeve gives me is just the best thing ever. I don't feel deprived because, at the end of the day I can choose to eat exactly what I want. The fact is, I seem to eat exactly what I NEED and I feel wonderful on it. I'm no saint believe me-the odd chocolate, a mouthful of something sweet and carbohydrate ridden or some other (un)forbidden treat has slithered down my throat from time to time but I don't get into a lather about it. I have stalls like everyone else but I don't stress about those either. The weight is waving bye-bye to my frame. New, fun clothes are saying hello to the same frame. I am LOVING every second of my journey. Good luck to all of you who are going to have surgery and I really hope you end up smile big as much as me. By the way, I read 'Queen of Crop' shortly after I had my surgery and can thoroughly recommend it as a 'must read' post surgery. I identified with so much and it gave me lots of reassurance that I was on the right track and doing the right things. -
Thank you OutsideMatchInside xxxxxxxx

Has it just been intimated that I'm a troll and that as my surgery was too cheap (although no-one knows what I DID pay for it) I shouldn't have had it?

The Ship-yep, have been known to stagger out of that hostelry many moons ago! My mother told me about it-she was in the WAAF and stationed at Styal and apparently was often to be found (in uniform) drunk in charge of a bicycle leaving same pub years before me. So you're a proper Cheshire housewife. Thank heavens for that. As for the leg, don't you think you might just need it for tripping the light fantastic post weight loss? Don't cut off your leg to spite your arse xxx

Hiya RosieCheeks I've been thinking about you a lot since I read your latest post. Of course you knew that you weren't suddenly going to morph into a size 10! It was going to be less of the 'sudden' more of the 'softly softly'. I know that you know that. It's just sometimes that softly softly takes a wee bit longer (OK, too long) for us impatient girls. What you need to remember is that RosieCheeks was not built in a day. You invested a great deal of time cultivating the tenacious poundage that has clung to your frame. Do you really think you're going to persuade it to let go in a matter of weeks? Think again pal. You're in this for the long haul! Anyway, you don't want to give your body too much of a shock do you? It's got to get used to dealing with the new, streamlined, aerodynamic shape that is on its way. There's a whole re-design process going on in there under your skin. DO NOT GET DESPONDENT!!!!!!! Just by the by, I've read a very interesting book called 'The Obesity Code' by Jason Fung over the last few days. Worth a look. I got my copy from Amazon. Also, another good read is http://www.queenofcrop.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/QoCCover.jpg. I read it just after my surgery and it helped me in those early days. By the way, whereabouts near Manchester airport are you? One of my favourite places around there is Styal Mill and the pub in Styal. Keep your chin up hon and keep in touch x

Dr K., Just back from dog route march. Sopping wet but appeared to have survived English monsoon. Relevant bits all seem to be in working order. WD 40 on stand-by just incase of any rust setting in. Quick pic of swan that I saw whilst walking by the Long Water at Hampton Court Palace (I only ever walk in classy locations like Royal Parks!!!) for all the girls to oooh and ahhhhh over. -

Regret before surgery
jintycb replied to VSGMEPLZ26's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go Addgirl06 go. I wasn't nervous about my op but I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.......and in pain........and embarrassed..........and depressed..............and everything else negative. At the age of 59 and nearly nine months post surgery I can only say that if I had done things sooner I would have saved myself so much misery! I'm a very happy sleever. My life is getting better with every ounce that drops off me. Each glob of fat that detaches itself from my carcass switches on the smile on my face. I have to admit my weight loss is slow but very steady but I am spending most of my time walking around with an idiot grin on my face! -

Have just started a rant thread and come back to this one and I have now got snot flowing out my nose because I snorted with laughter. This thread is costing me a fortune in loo paper (for blowing said snot out when laughter has stopped!). Dearest Dr KindaFamiliar, can you tell me if I can suffer from water damage? It's pissing with rain - again - although today is the summer solstice here in the Northern Hemisphere. Not one of my dogs has even got out of our bed yet but I am now feeling guilty that it is 9.41 and I haven't got up to take them for their walk yet. Do you think that if this weather continues my staples and my hip replacement might suffer from rust damage. If this is the case what is your suggested course of treatment? Thank you in advance for what I know will be invaluable information and experience x[emoji8] -
calorie in less than calories out doesn't assure weight loss
jintycb replied to More than this's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK finally found time to read my copy of the book. Put it this way, I won't be lending it out to friends as I want to keep it close by as a reference-not as my bible-just my reference. It has made me take a lot more notice of other publications which I am now reading and formulating in my own mind. For anyone unsure about what various foods do their bodies then 'The Obesity Code' is worth a read. Even if you just pick up one little nugget of information from it that nugget can be invaluable in your weight loss journey. I know that I found quite a few of little (worth their weight in) gold nuggets which I shall remember. -

I have just had to read this whole thread out to my husband because I was laughing so much I snorted snot and he couldn't imagine what was making me laugh so much. It was the comment about the knicker elastic thwacking against posterior flesh that did it for me! Love this thread. x -
Nail polish/Acrylic nails
jintycb replied to still_dna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ahhhhh!!! Bloody hell, just do as you're told by your surgical team. Weigh up the cost of the surgery against a set of nails and work things out that way. Or of course, you could work out what is most important to you for a couple of days-health or hand vanity. Up to you but I know what I did! -

Don't know about you lot but I'm knackered. Just back from 4 mile dog walk and don't want to do anything. Rampant Bambis in the park again but only got followed not chased. Got followed by a VERY weird bloke so stopped and talked to a man fishing and weirdo legged it. Love the music to the roo fight. Danced to that myself in the dim and distant past but think the Roos looked more graceful than I probably did. Actually they reminded me of the English and Russian football fans fighting in France this week. Right, just to let you know that the weather here is $h!t. It's dull, clammy, keeps pissing with rain and I'm still in wellies! I had to buy a rain jacket yesterday!!!! It's supposed to be summer for god's sake!!! Stop moaning about the weather in Oz-you wuss!!!!! Get your thermal underwear on. Get your woolly jumpers on. Put your miser mittens on. Put your heating on indoors and get someone or something warm to snuggle up with. Right, off to tackle the chores then going to Costco for some steak. I NEED some red meat today-grrrrrrrrrr. Have a lovely day/night all of you xxxx -
I've got that itch... the itch every wallet hates
jintycb replied to crazyplantlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well girls, I am having a ball buying great clothes and shoes. Small clothes. High shoes! Yay. I wear my scruffy clothes for walking the dogs every morning but after that I'm off on a closet raid. I NEVER bought clothes on-line before losing my lard but I've got two go-to sites and everything I've bought fits me beautifully. I'm loving being a girly again instead of a frumpy dollop! -
You can do it girl. Just keep the mental pic in your head of you looking drop dead gorgeous and it will help enormously. You can and will do it, even if your pals on BP have to beat you into submission!!!!!!!!!!! x

Morning guys! LOL! I nearly dropped my first cuppa of the morning all over one of the dogs!!! Love your dog Ms Lipstick. As a Brit and not being completely au fair with US politics , it appears to me personally that your dog might have the edge in the race for the White House.
