Any one around 26 years old? ?
IJustWant2BeALoser replied to Kaleigh Ryan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 26 and having Surgery in 11 days. My insurance will cover a tummy tuck and boob lift so the only concern I have was my arms. They aren't fugly right now but as soon as I start to lose weight I want to make sure I'm building muscle in the arms to offset the flab! Good Luck! We are also close to the same weight so if you ever want to chat let me know! -

Anyone have an over 50 BMI?
IJustWant2BeALoser posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think I have ever been happy about being too big BUT when I called my insurance company about the surgery they told me that since I am over 50 BMI I do not have to go through the usual 6 month weight loss phase. I am really excited because my first appointment with my Dr was mid October and I am supposed to be getting my surgery date tomorrow! Fingers crossed for 12/18! Is that the case with other insurances for an individual with a BMI over 50? -

yea I don't have HBP or Diabetes so I wasn't sure it would happen so quickly. just grateful that I can get it on this calendar year for Insurance -
Hi guys! I was wondering how many of you are purchasing an Incentive Spirometer for after the surgery? Do you think you'll need them?
-
Have any of you opened up to anyone about having WLS and have them tell you "you don't need that!" or "why aren't you trying to lose it on your own?". It has been so frustrating. I have always been curvy, but the past two years my curves have gone to blobs of fat. I play indoor soccer and hit the gym a couple times a week and I would not see any difference. Luckily when I started my new job, the insurance covered WLS and I immediately made an appointment with a surgeon. My surgeon sent me for a psych eval and one of the first things the psychologist told me was "you don't even look like you need WLS!".....um lady I am over 300lbs lol. so now I am at the point that I am keeping it a secret from everyone but my parents. my own siblings don't know. I guess I am worried about the judgement from people who just don't understand the struggle of losing and maintaining a weight loss. I already know I am in for a real struggle, I LOVE FOOD! but I love myself more, I want to be able to fit in an airplane seat comfortably and NOT have to ask for the seatbelt extender! I have a trip to Disney planned next November and if I am successful with this new beginning I should be have an AWESOME TIME! I am not looking at the surgery to do the work for me, I am looking at the surgery to kickstart me into working to lose and keep the weight off. I just wish people understood that SORRY FOR MY RANT!!! Having a tough day with all the Pre Surgery Requirements

Incentive Spirometer
IJustWant2BeALoser replied to IJustWant2BeALoser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi IJustWant2BeALoser. I actually had my procedure with a surgeon who works in your Surgeons office. Once you schedule your surgery, you will schedule 2 more appointments. The first appointment will be with you and a physician at St. John in Madison Heights. You will go over some information regarding surgery and meet with a couple other doctors to find out what is required of you in the days leading up to surgery. At this appointment you will be given an Incentive Spirometer to practice with. They will ask you to bring it with you to the hospital, but will give you another if you forget it. The other is a group class that will happen somewhere around 7-10 days before surgery. This will be where they go over the pre-op diet and what to do after surgery and while still in the hospital. Best of luck with your pre-op planning. If you can make it, there is a support group meeting in the education building across from the madison heights hospital, on Monday, December 7th. Its always the first Monday of the month, from 6pm till 7:15pm. If you are onfacebook, check out St. John Providence Weight Loss Surgical Patient Group. Thank you dlappjr! I am so excited to get the ball rolling! -
