How nice of your Christian husband. Smh.

    UHC is driving me crazy!

I've never heard of doing everything, getting approved, and then waiting an additional 6 months (totaling a year) to have surgery. I'd double check that info. Good luck!

    Gastric Sleeve Surgery in NYC

I'm having a band to sleeve revision done by Dr. Herron. I'm almost done with all my pre op stuff!
  4. I'll be done with all my pre op testing by this Thursday except for the psych clearance. I can't find a psychologist or psychiatrist near me who takes my insurance. I've called my insurance and gotten a list of providers, but when I call, they tell me they don't accept it. I'm getting so frustrated. This is a clearance mandated by the insurance yet they can't provide one to me in my area?? I'm so annoyed! The only place that does take it near me doesn't have any openings to MEET a psychiatrist (before they will even do the eval) until the end of February. ????

    Can't find psych eval. Annoyed.

I really don't have the money to pay out of pocket.

  7. Imagine being able to comfortably fit in a regular sized tub and take a bubble bath?? AND the water will actually cover you?? Can't wait.

    Taking baths

    I can't wait ❤️❤️❤️
  9. I started going to the doctor monthly for a medication & when I decided on WLS, I figured I could use those months as part of my pre op 6 month requirement since he always spoke to me about my weight. I never was actually weighed during these visits, and I would just tell a weight to the MA who brought me in. I never paid attention in the beginning because I wasn't doing this for surgery at the time. So I had 4 months done before I met with my surgeon. The NP told me I cannot gain weight from then on, which is fine. I can't remember the weights I told the doctor though. Could I be denied for gaining weight during the 6 month pre op diet, if it was before I met with the surgeon? I'm dieting now and will be down weight by the next visit but I'm unsure what my last 4 months look like
  10. I had my lap band in 2008. I lost weight, but gained back a ton after I had my son. I found a surgeon who was willing to do my revision. I had the consultation, I started doing my surgical clearances. My insurance (HealthPlus Amerigroup) changed to BCBS HealthPlus. Everyone was made aware of this change happening. I was scheduled to have my lap band out on 10/27. On 10/05 I called the office to ask a question, and they informed me that they no longer take my insurance. I was floored that no one even bothered contacting me to let me know I wouldn't be having surgery in two weeks. So for a couple weeks I sat depressed, until I found an awesome Surgeon willing to do my revision, and who accepts my new insurance. So now I've been doing the 6 month diet because I've been headed towards this surgery for a while. I was at month 5!! I went into my PCPs office for a visit, only to be told he doesn't work there anymore!!!! They wouldn't give me any info, where he went, why he left, nothing. Finally I tracked him down and I'm going to see him this week. Idk what happened, but now I missed my weigh in for the month of October. Idk if my new insurance even requires this 6 month diet because when I call, they tell me they won't know the requirements until the surgeon submits paperwork for the surgery. Is that the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard?? Does anyone know if they require it? Does anyone know if my insurance will somehow accept that my dr went MIA in the middle of my diet? Maybe I can convince my doctor to add a weight in my chart for the month of October I can't start over! I cannot wait until May! I only have my psychiatrist and nutritionist left to do. I've been doing this diet and it was ruined by this fucking doctor. I'm so pissed. Idk if I'm even asking a question, just venting I suppose :/ I'm not even sure if I technically have BCBS or healthplus now. I'm so upset.

    Pre op weight loss

Does insurance expect you to lose weight in your supervised 6 month diet? I know you can't gain weight, but what if you only lose a few pounds in those 6 months? Anyone been denied for this?

    Stomach lump 4 months post-op

    Looks like a hernia.
  13. Does insurance usually cover the nutritionist visit? I called a local nutritionist today who informed me That insurance isn't accepted for The first visit and is $200 out of pocket. She's crazy right? If I go to the surgeon's nutritionist, it will be covered, no? My surgeon didn't mention anything about a fee to see his nutritionist. I was only calling this one because she's much closer than the one at my surgeon's office.
  14. samantha614

    Nutritionist

Exactly! I don't need to, and she apparently doesn't have a different price if you don't want this done. It just seems a little fishy to me. I'm calling my insurance today to see if the visit is covered.
  15. samantha614

    Nutritionist

Lol I say she's crazy because the very first time I spoke to her, she told me that insurance covers the visit, but not the body composition test. So when I called back and made the appt, I said, "okay so the visit will be covered, and I just have to pay for the body composition part if I want it, right?" And she said, "no, the visit is $200 and that includes the body composition." I don't want the body composition, and isn't that different than what she initially told Me??

    Pre op weight loss

    Thanks guys!
  17. Me! I think I'll be January/February
  18. After one surgeon refusing my insurance in the middle of the process, my PCP disappearing from the practice, i think I'm finally getting somewhere! Met with my new surgeon today, and I'm kind of ahead of the game, having already started my surgical clearances. I should be having surgery in January/February ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? so happy. Have to remove my lap band first.
  19. He said that he wants to go in with an open mind, depending how it looked is if he would do the sleeve at the same time. So I have 3 months left of my 6 month diet. I'd hate to wait u til January to do that, and then if it looks bad, wait another 2 months to heal and have the sleeve done. I told him I'd rather have the band taken out now, and this way by the time my diet is over and insurance approval goes through, my stomach will have healed and we can go ahead with the definite surgery!

    Regretting it already..(day 1)

The pain is temporary. You won't regret it when you reach your goal weight! Just remember it's temporary!

    Insurance mandated diet

Does anyone know what the insurance companies are looking for when the PCP has to submit the 6 month diet stuff? My PCP is so....unorganized. I started with him and I had already been being weighed so I figured I'd finish it out with him, but I have a feeling he hasn't been charting what he needs to. Anyone know what they're looking for or what the doctor needs to chart?

    Insurance mandated diet

I'm going to have to do something! Maybe I can make my own forms and fill them out and then have him sign them. I'll just be honest and say what was discussed in the past visits. Would you be able to post a picture of a blank form, just so I can see what kind of info it has on it?

    Insurance mandated diet

It's such a mess! He switched offices, so the other day I filled out a record release to go get a copy so I can see what he's been writing, and they have over 200 forms to do and said it won't be available for a couple of weeks! Ugh. Such a mess.
