Doesn't sound like it :/ are you able to switch to a different insurance that offers it? You can always call the insurance and ask if it's a definite exclusion or if they will consider it if your PCP recommends it.

Surgery Tore My Throat UP!
samantha614 replied to ellie123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg! There's no reason! The only time a patient should have their throat ripped like that is when an emergency intubation is done or a patient is fighting it. You were knocked out, so he was just being careless! I would definitely go see an ENT and see what's going on. -

You should still go -
Every time I go he discusses me losing weight, and I'm willing to bet he doesn't chart it ???? I realized how unorganized they were when he switched offices and they couldn't call his patients to tell them because they didn't have formal bookkeeping of the patient's phone numbers. !!!! I have three months down. I don't want to start over! And I'm SO switching PCPs once I complete this 6 months!

Embarrassing Question - Managing Enuresis in the Hospital?
samantha614 replied to wwboy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm in nursing school & I think you should absolutely bring your stuff and tell them. They definitely have seen this before, wouldn't care, and would much rather you take the precautions than to have to change the soiled bed. Don't feel weird. At all. -
The pulmonologist called today and informed me that my insurance won't cover a sleep study at an office because there's no reason I can't have it at home. This doesn't bother me at all, as long as they cover it some how. I'm just curious how this works? I've had a sleep study done at an office before but never at home. Does someone stay at your house all night and monitor everything, or do they just come and set it up? Do they have to go to your bedroom to set stuff up, or just attach the leads to your body? Thanks!

I know when the new policy took effect. This isn't my issue. Thank you. -

You're right. It's not worth it. I'm going to go to him and ask him to write a letter that he was out of the office like the woman suggested. Thanks! -

Idk my insurance because I don't know if it's technically considered healthplus, or if it's technically considered BCBS. I didn't apply for this change, the insurance company just did it and all the members rolled over onto the new plan. Now it's called BCBS HealthPlus, so I'm unsure if their policies now go by BCBS or by Healthplus. I called my insurance and now they've stated that as long as the Doctor states it's medically necessary, it's approved. She said there is nothing written about a diet beforehand. So then I called the surgeon's office and spoke to the woman who works with the insurance companies, and she told me that they do require it. I feel like no one knows what they're talking about. (At the insurance company) The woman from my surgeon's office told me to get a note from my doctor and that he was out of the office and I will just have to weigh in one extra month instead of starting over. Fingers crossed that it works. PS- I don't appreciate the condescending attitude of "how do you not know what insurance you have." I don't walk around oblivious to the world. The insurance company changed and merged their names, but are still separate entities, so it's a little confusing to figure out which policy they're technically now following. Thanks for your insightful input, though.
