4 Weeks Post Surgery: Things that are different

I'm approaching my 4 week post op as well and I can relate to a lot of the things listed. I really need to improve on my walking. My surgeon released me from all physical restrictions at 6 weeks, so I'm looking forward to joining a gym and maybe even getting a personal trainer. How much progress(weight loss) have you made so far? Good Luck to you! -

I received my approval letter over the weekend. It didn't clearly state an approval or denial so I called the insurance company and they confirmed that I had indeed been approved. Now, im waiting to be scheduled for an upper endoscopy and gallbladder ultrasound. Has anyone already had these done? Is it as bad as it looks on you tube?

My surgery date is feb 10th. They offered me Jan 20th but I wanted to celebrate my birthday on feb 1st without restrictions

It took less than 10days to get the letter in the mail. I probably could have found out sooner if I called them.

When did you find out about your out of pocket expenses?
ladyperro2 replied to ladyperro2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi guys, Thanks for all of the info! I'm waiting for a call back. @. and @lauriev. My situation was similar with the insurance company. After I received what I thought was the approval. I called them to confirm and they reminded me about the $5,000 bariatric deductible. Then they cover 100%. I also called the doctors office to inform them about my approval. I was told to call them because the insurance company will notify the patient first and it could take days or weeks for them to notify the doctor. I have a co worker that had a procedure last April and she only paid $1300 out of pocket. Less than 30 days after her procedure she received a full refund from the doctors office. Not sure why and she didn't ask any questions. after some research, I found out that her surgeon doesn't have the best reputation, that's why I chose not to go that route. @lauriev. My surgery is on a Wed. I'm super excited and its good to Know someone that has gone through the experience. I really appreciate it! -

I'm currently 2weeks away from my scheduled surgery and no one has mentioned my out of pocket cost. I'm aware of my insurance co pay so at what point is the payment due? And to who? What has been your experience? -

I have a $350 regular deductible and a $5,000 deductible for any bariatric surgery. I plan to get financing if i have to pay the full amount up front and i wasn't sure if I was jumping the gun about the time frame that they inform you about cost. -

Yeah I plan to call tomorrow. The surgery coordinator called me today to schedule my pre op appointment with the hospital and the surgeon and she didn't mention anything about cost. So I wasn't sure if that was standard. I've heard of ppl being billed afterwards. -

Yes I do. I meant deductible not co pay. My insurance has a separate bariatric deductible.
