Wk 4 - only 3 pds down. What happened?
healthier&happier4life posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost about a pound a day for the first three weeks, now I've only lost 3 pounds week 4. What happened? Is this normal? Will the weight loss pick back up? -

Ditto on the chap stick! That's the one thing I used a lot!! The nurse gave me lozenges because my throat actually hurt more than my stomach. Apparently the entubation can irritate your throat. -
I'm sorry to hear that your case manager is not very responsive. I was very fortunate in that my surgeon's office has a great support team. They always return my calls promptly. I've read that others have had similar problems so I am blessed. I would keep calling them or even stop by the office. Ask them when the paperwork was submitted and when they expect to hear something.

Kinda freaked out

I'm 52 and 5 weeks post op. My stats are similar to yours. I'm 5'4" and was 250lbs. I had sleep apnea (which I believe is already gone), but I don't have the other health problems you have. Regardless, I've struggled with my weight for the last 20 years. Up and down with more ups than downs. I realized that 20 years was long enough to prove that I needed help with this. You know whether or not you can get healthy on your own or not. There's no shame in getting help! I'm so glad that I did this! -

To tell or not to tell?
healthier&happier4life replied to dlae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only told a few people. When I'm around the people I haven't told, I just tell that that I;m not very hungry because I had a late lunch, etc., As far as restaurants go, sometimes my husband and I order one entree, and I just get a couple ounces of the meat. We've also ordered separate meals, and I just have them box up the leftovers for me. (I cut off the portion that I'm going to eat so that I don't accidentally overdo it! -
Stagnant weight loss [emoji22]

I stalled in my 4th week. I had lost 22 pounds the first 3 weeks and only a couple last week. But, the scale is starting to move again in week 3. I posted about this problem too, and several of the vets said that a stall is normal. Don't give up! -

Thank you! I read your "Embrace the Stall" post. Just what I needed to hear! -
Pokemon Go!
healthier&happier4life replied to healthier&happier4life's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Common sense is important in anything we do! Fortunately, I live out in a rural area, so when I'm walking I'm looking at nature - not my phone. The app makes your phone vibrate when Pokemon are near, so that's the only time you have to look at your phone. I've only tried it a few times. It's much too hot where I live to be out walking during the day! -
Discomfort when swallowing @ 4 wks post op
healthier&happier4life replied to healthier&happier4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. I don't have any of those other symptoms and only experience the discomfort when swallowing (sometimes). I'm wondering if it could just be that the incisions are still sensitive. I wonder how long it takes for the new stomach to totally heal from the surgery. -

I am alone, no post op help. Anyone else been alone?
healthier&happier4life replied to RedE2Go's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I definitely think you need to get someone there with you, at least for a couple of days. I felt okay when I got home and I could have taken care of myself. But, it sure was nice to have someone checking up on me... making sure I was drinking and getting my Protein in. -
4 weeks! What are you eating?
healthier&happier4life replied to curlysue86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in my 4th week too! I'm eating soft foods like eggs, cheese, greek yogurt, Peanut Butter, tuna salad, black Beans, and still having Protein shakes to get me to my goal! I also tried a chicken casserole and pureed the meat - that worked okay. Just don't much like the consistency of pureed meat! -
Need advice - luncheon Sunday - What do I do?
healthier&happier4life posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 3 weeks post op, and I will be attending a luncheon Sunday. I'm in the soft food/pureed stage of the post op diet. I don't want to tell people that I had the surgery. I don't know what food will be there. Do I try to eat a little bit of whatever meat is there and just be sure to chew, chew, chew? -

Thanks for posting this! I have been wondering what Onederland is all about! -
It must be very difficult for loved ones to be so negative and critical and mean! I'm sorry you've had to endure this. Anyone who talks like this to people is not to be listened to. I'm so sorry for the loss of your grandmother. I was close to my grandmother too. It's very difficult to lose someone that you are so close to. Try to forget all the awful things your grandfather has said and focus on the positive things in your life!

Pokemon Go!
healthier&happier4life replied to healthier&happier4life's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Well, I decided to try it this evening. Walked right out my back door and found a pokemon there! Who would have thought? Went on a short walk and found another one. So, I'm in my 50s and having fun playing with Pokemon. I never would have thought it! I think it will make exercising more fun! -

Premier Protein...
healthier&happier4life replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yeah. I don't care for the strawberries & creme either. I bought a 4 pack from Wal Mart after reading a previous post about the new flavors, but YUCK! I drank one but I had to force myself, and I just didn't feel very good after drinking it. I won't drink any more. I will stick with the Inspire Protein powder. I like the dutch chocolate and Peanut Butter flavors. They are good with skim milk, and if I add a little ice it's almost like drinking a milk shake! -
Hard Time Deciding
healthier&happier4life replied to gubygubb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went in thinking that I wanted the sleeve, but ultimately decided on the RNY. The main reason I decided on the RNY is because I decided that I needed my body to help me control my "sweet tooth"! I also thought about how the RNY is somewhat reversible if needed, but the sleeve it not reversible as they actually remove part of your stomach. -
3 Weeks and 22 pounds down! I hope it keeps going like this!

I'm so confused-unclear diet plan from doc
healthier&happier4life replied to Evenkeel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate that your surgeon's office is not as helpful as they should be! If you google "post operative diet for bariatric surgery" you will find plans from Mayo Clinic and other prestigious hospitals. Maybe one of these will have a little more detail for you.
