Hello, I'm Melanie, originally from Nashville. Joined the Navy out of high school and never looked back. I've been around the world twice and got out just after 12 years of service. We moved from San Diego to Everett, Washington and decided to stay. My husband was also in the Navy and he retired up here. We have 4 kids: 20, 17, 13, and 9.

Being up in Washington, I am not as active as I was in San Diego, or anywhere else. I am heavier now than I was pregnant with any of my kids! And it still seems to keep coming! It feels like the pounds just never stop. I started working out, but I pushed myself too hard, that I would hurt myself and be inactive for 3-4 months (more weight gain). Then I got so heavy that when I would try to walk, I would get plantar fasciitis, because of my weight. It felt like a never ending battle.

My sister in law has the lap band and she looks amazing after 2 years, and I was wanting to give it a try. So this led me to looking into it more.

Then I got a job at Northwest Weight Loss Surgery Center, as a CNA. I work nights and would help the patients in recovery. After working side by side with Dr. Michaelson, I knew that I would be in great hands. I set up my appointment to see which option would work best for me. Dr. Michaelson suggested the sleeve and I have stuck with it.

I'm having the sleeve done on November 24th. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.
