Good! Me too!!! 10 lbs under goal!!!! So for me, maybe this time next year?
-
Lol! It was that good lol!
-
I'm telling you - you have to go when you are 10lbs below goal. The things they do to food. Omg. Bangers and mash might sound like just sausage and potatoes but it's delicious when prepared right. And back to the bread. They made mini loaves so I often had a loaf in my purse for whenever we had tea if I wasn't going to be anywhere fancy. But yeah - I'll stop. I'm 4 days post op and I don't know why I'm doing this. Maybe because I haven't had any cravings yet lol. Sorry!!!!! Lol!!! Yeah it does! It's a military term too - my husband was in theater today: he was in a big room for a briefing. Lol!!! They make everything sound so divine!!!! I'll leave the chocolate alone. Maybe we should plan a losers bench trip to the UK. Only requirement, be at least 10lbs below goal lol!!!!

Yeah. Completely different life style there but I'd go back in an instant. Went there for equivalent of middle, Jr. and high school and loved every second of it. Double deckers were not just buses - they were part of why my waist band expanded. And the Mars bars they referred to are similar to Milkyway but 10 times better. Even better deep fried! oh the horrible things I've eaten in the uk. Loaves of bread were different. You can get them sliced thinly but usually not. We got them straight from the bakery - and slathered them with butter and jam. It goes on and on... Quite easy to see that they are up there in the list of obese nations.

That BMI requirement completely surprised me! I'm at a BMI of 41. So I couldn't imagine not having an option unless I was at a 60.. Exactly how I felt. But it's because NHS pays for it there. Private payers can go to private doctors.

February 2016 sleevers?

What is the name of the shakes from the hospital? Trying to stalk up on stuff before surgery and would love a variety of shakes. They are by Health Wise and they have a variety of fruity ones. Health wise apparently makes other things like coffee/chocolate drinks but I have my tried those. The health wise fruit shakes are really good and light. -
Well also, in the UK you have to have. BMI of 60 for the bypass and possibly the sleeve. The only other option would be the band which they've shown a couple of times.

That's funny lol. I haven't. I've dreamt of my surgery and that I was running around the hospital when I shouldn't have been. -
Need Eating Advice from the Guru members!
prettyCali916 replied to LetItGo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not a guru yet either, just sleeved this week, but i agree - seems carby. I know everyone's plans are different but crackers, pizza and cereal are a no go on mine. Maybe try something else for breakfast. And then at night leave room for something filling yet light. Good luck. -

You are so lucky. A lot of stuff they gave me orally. And I say liquid Prilosec tasted like dead fish. It was horrible. I got blood thinner injections in the hospital along with medicine to help cut nerves.I ended up in the ear yesterday because of bladder retention. It was causing me to get blood in my urine. Ended up with an IV for dehydration. Another thing to note. Not all doctors understand bariatric surgery. During the ct last night they discovered that my intestines are inflamed, he kept trying to give me Motrin type products and I had to repeteatly tell him I can't take those anymore. Oh goodness lifewhichismine. That sounds gross- the Prilosec. Bleh. Yeah they would literally come to my IV and start shooting meds into the part connected to my hand. I'm so sorry you were sick with a bladder infection. Yeah - I'm realizing if it's not their specialty, they don't know the true ins and outs of it. Or maybe they're not thinking about it. I hope you get better soon. I've actually even noticed that all bariatric surgeons are different as far as how they do things... -

The nurse just called to say that the Levsin should help with any discomfort in swallowing so take it religiously! I've noticed it helps which is why I can now drink my shakes! Better hurry up before it wears off lol! -
February 2016 sleevers?

Day 4 for me and no cravings. I had cut out coffee after my initial consult in December. Same thing with diet soda. I loved them but I didn't want them anymore. Down another 3.4lbs from yesterday. Once I stall, I'll stop weighing lol. I'm loving these hospital shakes! I brought one home with me. They are so light and fruity. Like juice. Hubby ordered a pack and I just ordered another pack because I've decided to switch my routine to starting the day with these things. They are so good and not too heavy. I started with a pedialyte Popsicle (I had 1/4 of the Popsicle) to soothe my throat, then I was able to take my pain meds and then I was able to finally swallow and I'm working on the fruity shake. Feels like I'm getting into a routine! -

Hi! Glad you're well. So I have gas x strips and haven't taken any. So after they dissolve do they make you pass gas? Just trying to see how they work. Glad you were able to keep some food down. Whatever you can keep down is good! -

Kayla - no blood thinners for me. If they gave them before surgery, I have no idea. I didn't realize a lot of things that were going on. Later I found out that my multivitamin was through IV, my meds to settle my stomach were pushed through the IV, of course pain meds, and antacids were through IV. So maybe there could've been thinners. No one told me. Just took all my meds and I'm feeling good. Pain is not that bad. About to go finish my chocolate shake and then it will be water for the rest of the night. That puts me at 45g of protein - not bad for day 2 with a frickin hiatal hernia. -

@It's Time I'm glad it's helpful! It is best to take in all you can and follow your surgeon's instructions to a T. That will ensure you have the best outcome. Having a hiatal hernia was unexpected because it didn't show up on the upper GI but I was aware of what it was and knew it was possible to be found - I signed a consent form saying he could fix it if I had one. I had read a lot about them on here so I was not shocked or freaked out. I'm really glad this forum exists. Good luck on your upcoming procedure!!!!! You'll do amazing! -

Ah!!! Discharged at 10am. Made it home at noon - stopped off at the pharmacy on the way home. Drank a 15g Protein shake on the way home. Feeling good except I'm sore all over - arms and legs. My potassium was low yesterday so I think that's why. Laying in bed now with a full Water bottle and a heated blanket. Hubby is nearby on his laptop - he's already offered Jello and a shake so I'm in good hands. Oh - and doc said yesterday that I should be 15lbs heavier because of the IV. Well I got on the scale and I was down a lb! Yay!!!!!!! This is so amazing! -

Me too! though I'm here until Sunday. The mentioned I shoild try drinking water today (I had my leak test) and that they'd try me on some thin yogurt drink thing tonight, but no drink. Given that I've been zipping water and it still kind of hurts I'm glad though. I'm home now! They started me on this 15g protein shake - it was fruity and actually good. Plus broth, jello and Popsicles. I had to focus on the shakes yesterday and got two in. Just drank one on the 1.5 drive from San Francisco to Sacramento. Taking a break and will just sip water. This afternoon ill try to drink a premier protein shake. It has 30g of protein in it so if I can't get anymore after that im OK. Hope they get you your yogurt drink soon. Does it hurt when water goes down or your whole stomach? -
@@swizzle I almost went with her too! My insurance isn't authorized to go there! She's brilliant I've heard! Good luck!!!!

I find myself holding Water in my mouth. Swallowing is definitely harder. Yep. I was doing that with my Protein shakes. What all have you consumed? They just brought my Breakfast tray and I was demolishing my chicken broth. I found that it is so warm and soothing and I was able to get more down! I'm happy about that because I can get my liquids in! I was so worried about not being able to. This Protein Drink is pretty good too. Hubby took a sip and said he wanted to order some. He found them online and bought an assorted pack of 7. Definitely good for the days that I don't want a heavy premier chocolate shake. -
