Hi! I'm just starting out and I will be having my surgery at Winthrop hospital. Just wondering if anyone has used this group. My dr is Dr A. Barken. I'm going to my primary dr to get a weigh in tomorrow and see if we can back track a few months. I'm in southern Nassau county if anyone is looking for a buddy Lisa

How much time did everyone have to take off of work?
chilepeppr4 replied to J3nnif3r8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr office suggests 3 weeks, I work in daycare but my co worker who also had the sleeve was back after a week. We only have 3 employees, it's a home daycare, so everyone else just helped her pick up the slack. I'm hoping for a Friday surgery and will go back the second Monday for 10 days out. -
At which hospital??

Hi everyone! My name is Lisa and I am just starting the process. I'm 35 and I have struggled with my weight my entire adult life, the last time I was a healthy weight was probably when j graduate high school. Last night I went with my best friend to the seminar for our hospital that we will use and they already made our initial appointment for November 13th. I'm am currently around 305pounds. I have been "dieting" for 2 years.. I got down to 274 from my highest of 315 on and off on an off.. Up and down up and down.. I honestly just don't know what to do anymore. Without getting the sleeve done, I honestly don't ever think I will lose the weight I should to take back control of my life. I'm scared to death of surgery and hope I don't die getting it done. That's about all for now.. Lol Anyone please feel free to comment! I'd love to talk to anyone who's been sleeved or thinking about it ???? -

I am pretty immobile, should I start walking more often? Well, yes I know I should to be healthier.. But to help prevent clots, should I start now? I have trouble walking because my knee, and also my shins really start to hurt. But maybe if I start with once or twice around the block now will be helpful in the long run. I think when I start out with walking, I push myself to much and get disappointed with the pain and than give up quickly.. I work one mile from work and I have walked there once, and when I got There I was in so much pain I almost cried. Sad but true ???? a clot after surgery is my BIGGEST fear and may actually hold me back from this.
