So much harder than I thought...
M!@ replied to tera1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tera, I am sorry you are going through this. I had my surgery on 13 November of this year. I was not given anything beside iv fluids the first day, then given sugar free Popsicle the next day. Wow you are already on purees! I was on liquid (broth, juice, and Popsicles) until day four. I did not have a Protein goal to meet. I added this in on on day four when I was taking1-2 Protein shakes a day. I did have the nausea, but quickly learned that i had to block the iv when I stood up to walk. I am nearly a month out now and do have nausea and vomiting on occasion but it is generally due to drinking to soon after a meal, eating too fast on too much even if it is just a quarter of a bite. Most often the too fast is the problem. I noticed in the hospital I did a lot of spitting which I was told was not due to nausea but the tube from surgery. I hope you start to feel better and will be on your way home soon. -
Anyone else have a surgery date of November 13?
M!@ replied to Ritcheycop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Ladies, I am just checking in. I have been out of town this week and let me just say it has been a challenge. I have vomited so much this week. I keep trying to figure if I am eating too fast or my body does not like the food I am putting in it. Also I don't have my protein with me, and the training has been keeping us so busy that I haven't been able to get out and find a replacement. Just 2 more days and I can get back home and back on a routine. For now all I can do it eat boiled egg whites and cheese, drink water, and get in my vitamins. I will weigh when I return to see when I am. I hope all is well with you ISP (incredible shrinking people). -
What NSV are you looking forward to Postop?
M!@ replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Wearing a single digit size 2. Being able to exercise as much as I want without my doctor harping or worse causing more damage 3. To not feel like I have to take a picture standing sideways 4. To feel comfortable enough to take lingerie photos for my hubby as a gift 5. And finally, not being completely self-conscience when my husband wants to pick me up. It is not that he can't it is that I just haven't wanted him to. He is all about cuddling and affection, so lets add sitting in his lap, I could probably go on with this one. -
You know there are lots of good comments and suggestions that I will not repeat. Do something to shock yourself, not him. It sounds like your mind is made up. The actions that you take from this point is up to you. When you go forward whichever the direction, don't let the reason you take action be to get a reaction out of him. Let it be to make you feel good, to surprise yourself, to be able to walk with your head held high saying "yea, I did that". You have tried to be what he wants you to be and do what he wants you to do or what he says he wants you to do. But shut all of that out, and ask yourself what you would say to your friend if she was going through the exact same thing and was sitting in a chair across from you. Make sure you are standing in a mirror when you answer, so you can hear it from yourself loud and clear. I just got an image of you smirking saying "f*** him"! Just be happy for you.

Congratulations on your success! Can't wait to join you.

What did you tell people about your absence?
M!@ replied to Good apple's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After 10 years of work with no vacation, I say it is fitting to say you are taking time off for yourself. I called mine a me-cation. Though I was only out two days, a Friday and Monday, so I had the weekend. I know it sounds crazy that I went right back, but in my current position, I had the option to extend time off if necessary, though it wasn't needed. For me though, I wanted to stick to as close to the truth as possible. which I have been able to do thus far. During the pre-op diet and liquid diet phase, intermittent fasting. Just say what will most appropriate for you. But I believe another poster said it, announce the time out, don't just leave them to speculate. -

Fiesty, I feel you on the smell, and thought of food making me sick. I will walk into a place or someone will offer me something and I am literally holding my breath as I shake my head no. Sugar smells horrible. Other than foods, my sense of smell is just really sensitive. I just walk around checking the air. I probably look weird but who cares. -
A shocking confession... (Warning - That may be a slight overstatement).

Ok, Jason, since you are confident enough to put yourself out there...I will follow in your foot steps and admit, I too have an intimate relationship with my scale. I have come a far ways in that I do not weigh daily, but every other day or every few days I do check. Of course, I have two scales in my house. The one in the master bath is a pound off. Something about being on the second floor. LOL He is the one I am married to; he is most often used. But when I want the real weight or I will check with my side piece-I get nekky for him. LMBO. Seriously, though, someone else already said it is all about what you do with the information and for me the answer is simply take note and move on. -
Where did you all lose weight from first?
M!@ replied to Sajijoma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My face and neck are generally the first to start their incredible shrinking with my waist line in a close second, the thighs and hips, then finally the butt. Of course, the feet and hands go with the face and neck. I am going to go ahead and say it is because these are the most outer extremities. -
At 2 weeks post-op, my non VSG world shattered. I am trying to pick up the pieces...

Fiesty, I am sorry you are in pain. I hope that gets better soon. 178 does sound up there, but they may just be aiming higher. Did they give you a time frame? Ritchey, I drink a premier shake in the morning for breakfast with my vitamins. Well sometimes it takes 2 hours and I still put it over ice so that probably waters it down some, can't drink the vanilla, chocolate only. I am not reaching 65g of protein per day, but I can sometimes get semi close. I just don't have room for anything more. I am barely able to eat a couple of oz. in fact I eat out of those rubber maid 2oz containers. -

Hey ladies!!! Just checking I with you. Doing well...shocked by how little I can eat currently. Getting ready to amp up my walking. Went out and got a Fitbit. The doc told me no elliptical for the first six weeks so kind of sad about that, but until then I will become a speed walking extraordinaire. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and is doing well on this new journey. -

Ritchey, I know what you mean about feeling like it is not going to work, and it is easy to get caught up in judging your progress based on the progress of others. I have heard it time and time again, here as well as other forums. You will lose at your pace and no one else's. Weigh 1 x weekly at the most, measure yourself so you can have a good idea if the inches are moving even if the scale doesn't. Oh and please don't feel like I am fussing at you. This is me fussing at myself, because I too will walk toward that scale each day knowing I shouldn't. So I will be taking my measurements too and posting them here for all to see real soon. : > -

Fiesty, I am glad you were able to find something that will dissolve. The calcium I bought was the wrong kind, a large tablet instead of the chewable. It is on the return list. I did not take meds well before surgery either, and I need to find one I will be consistent with. So far everything else goes down and stays pretty well. NSV...all stitches removed, and on to butterfly bandages. Well only two anyway. The remaining to incisions seem to be closed pretty well, I just want to be sure I don't sneeze anything loose. So ladies, Thanksgiving marks a special day for us, well pending doctor approval. It is Day 1 of puree/soft or more affectionately called "phase II". As I preparing my list for what I will be making for my family, I decided I should probably decide what I will be slurping that day. So far I have come up with turkey salad aka I will pureed some turkey with egg, broth, and light mayo. -

Absolutely Feisty! So day eight post op and a couple of incision stitches had to go...My 3 smaller incisions stitches removed this morning. My skin was starting to heal over them, and that's a no no. The two others I will give a few move days. In other news. I am able to swallow my antibiotic rather than dumping the contents in Jello NSV....only 2 days left of those and I will add the multiV. Then probably calcium. My doc says add the iron if needed after healed. -

Ritchey, I am glad you are feeling better as well. The nausea was better yesterday afternoon. I have been sleeping with a heating pad which has been helping with something-couldn't tell you whether it is the gas, or nausea or ...but it helps. I actually went grocery shopping yesterday and found the ice pops they told me I should keep on hand. This is awesome because they usually only have them in the summer. Can anyone else believe they had surgery 5 days ago? I mean, the pain is minimal, I am up moving around quite well. I mean aside from getting nauseous spontaneously or being on edge when you have to pass gas and there is not a restroom near, I feel pretty freaking great. -

Feisty, I was told to stay away from acidic flavored, orange and lime. I did really well at work, had a nap when I got home though. I managed to down most of a vanilla protein shake and sip apple juice and crystal light all day. Regarding vitamins, my doctor says give it a few days, focus on finishing the antibiotic first, then add it vitamins. Which I will begin tomorrow or the next day. The antibiotic is horrible by the way : ). Anybody weigh in to see if they are losing the water from op.
