I did have my surgery in TJ but not through ALM, so may some one who has can chime in. I must say there my experience was AMAZING! I had no issues and was treated like a goddess. I followed instructions to the letter and healed nicely. Well wishes to you on this journey!

For even with the weight lost, my boobs are not taking a big hit. Well, first off, I cheated. I have a reduction mammoplasty years ago that took me from a 36E to a C. Though it was medically necessary at the time because of back issues. So, with the recent 65 lb loss they didn't lose much fullness.

not able to eat lunch with co-workers
M!@ replied to bevewhite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't find it to be an issue, and no one at works knows about my surgery. When we go out, I order small meals, kid size if available. If I asked I reply that "rather than eat 3 big meals a day, I eat 5-6 small ones" Then with some I even throw in, "its a struggle though, I feel like I am always eating". It I get a larger meal, I will get it to go and may say "dang its gonna take me all day to eat all this and maybe tomorrow". After a time or two, no one asks and even the restaurant I frequent asks me if I want my usual. I don't believe you have to tell people about surgery if you are not comfortable doing so...it is a personal choice. Only 4 people know of mine, and none of them coworkers. No one has asked flat out if I have had surgery. -
Not telling people about your surgery is a "half truth" or a "lie" steams me like a pile of fresh cow dung...
M!@ replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
I don't think I could have summed it up any better than you did! But I would be lying if I didn't say so. LOL This is hilarious. -
@@Lipstick Lady, my doc allows my coke zero as well. Of course it takes days to drink one so I think I am okay with regard to expanding my stomach.

Anyone else have a surgery date of November 13?
M!@ replied to Ritcheycop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone...last weeks weigh-in put me at 183, I had a stall as well during my move out of state, but lately there has been some movement in the right direction. I expected the slow down so I haven't been too bummed about it. I do need to move more, but the new job has me so busy. I stopped tracking calories when everyday was looking nearly the same, but if it becomes an issue I will restart, but for now I am focusing on getting my physical routine where I want it to be. I am glad everyone is doing well...I am eager to see where my body decides it is happy. I can say I would like to be at 145, which is 38 lbs but when I look at myself in the mirror, I do wonder if there is that much still to lose. People had said before that I carry my weight well...My weight hides itself well is much more appropriate to say. But it will not hide for long. I will utilize this tool to its maximum capability. I cannot believe it had been 5 months as of today. -
Anyone ever thought:"I can do this on my own, I don't need the sugery"
M!@ replied to Killian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely...every single time I dieted and attempted to lose the weight, I was telling myself I can do this. And every single time I believed it. I realized WLS was right for me, about the 20th time the pounds just came back, and brought with it a few of his friends which put me at my highest weight ever which was more than when I was pregnant. Enough was enough...and I had to accept I needed help. -
Plastics after massive weight loss! Dr. Juan Pablo Cervantes

You look amazing!! -
Not that it is on the menu, but you can order individual items from McDonald's like egg white etc. I am a burger fanatic and for years I have been eating them without the bun. No offense, to McDonald's but I don't eat their burgers. However there are other places such as Hardees, Carl Jr.'s, and depending on location Wendy's which will offer the burgers in a lettuce wrap.

@berg, please do not leave the support group due to one comment which was perceived to be rude. I say this for several reasons: 1. Everyone needs support through this process 2. No two people are going to respond the same to a question or comment, because we are all different 3. You have a choice to skip over those comments which are not helpful or rude or mean, etc. etc. 4. Someone may have the same question or thought as you. 5. Written word leaves out so much nonverbal, that it is often hard to decipher what was meant or how it was meant from simply the text alone. But you can also take it at face value, some comments will be more blunt than others. But when we get to the point where the struggle is real, sometimes what we need is bluntness. Regarding your question, the best is to follow guidance by your physician. I was not allowed beef until recently. I am over 4 months out. Just be gentle with yourself, and don't be surprised if what looks like just a little bit is impossible to manage. Take it slow...

How can you tell you lost weight?
M!@ replied to NatashaSaysRawr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would recommend grabbing something, maybe from the thrift store etc. that is the size you are now. Yes the dreaded try it on shopping experience. It is even ok if you get something snug. Take a pic of yourself in them, then put them away. Periodically, pull them out and try them on and retake the pic. Now I say thrift store because you do not want to go out and spend money on something that will be too big in a few months. And you are already going to have to get a new wardrobe. I knew I was losing because of before and after pics, people told me, my face was slimming, I have a clavicle, thigh gap is starting to show, my shoes became lose, clothes too loose, etc. Best wishes -
Did you need someone to take care of you after surgery?
M!@ replied to crazygoose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I traveled to have my procedure. Drove my own car to the airport, and back home on 3 days post op. Of course, I did this carefully, and had a pillow in the car to lay between myself and the seat belt. I did not take any medications after the IV was removed so driving on pain medication was not an issue. I was on my own post op, and did fine. I was up walking every chance I got, including going up and down the stairs in my home (slowly). My good friend and neighbor also checked on me, but she does anyway even without the procedure :> -
The first step was to get on the scale. Now you have to get back on track. You have done it before, you can do it again.

Self pay and could cry over the amount, couple of questions
M!@ replied to mmorris4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just another Mexico sleever here! I was sleeved in TJ for $4500 (minus airfare). Overall, I paid no more than 5K and was able to book when I wanted which really worked out well. Lots of people discredit surgeries done out of country but they were really great and they took great care of me. There is also the option to bring someone with you but I chose to go alone, and met a great group of people there. -
Easily Nauseated - Worried that sleeve will cause constant nausea
M!@ replied to Jules0509's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There may be some slight nausea after the procedure but that generally subsides. You do want to make sure to eat slowly enough and and in small portions. These are the major culprits for nausea and vomiting post procedure. Your doc can probably give you nausea meds if it is a problem for you. -
Wore a dress 4 sizes smaller and felt exposed
M!@ replied to msjg46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is definitely something that may come up for you. However, understand that there is a process and it will take some getting use to your new body. Which is hard to do at this stage when it is constantly changing. Give yourself time to adjust and remember compliments will come, just say thanks and keep moving. -
I understand knowing may give you the creeps. However, it sounds like you have waited a long time for the place. Death is a part of life and it sounds like the lady lived a full life. Its a decision you have got to make based on what you can live with.

I can understand how upset you must be with him. However, don't let it get you down. I know you did not want others to know about your procedure, and you probably don't want to postpone either. I say just go forth as planned, but also let your husband know your feelings (calmly, even though you're upset). If at 3 days post op you don't feel like entertaining (which at this point is unclear, some people are fine by then), then only do what you are up for, and excuse yourself. They might understand that you are not up to it. That or plan for activities in the home that require little to no effort on your part (they are elderly right?). Sorry, I am just trying to be optimistic.

You know you lost weight when
M!@ replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Someone said this before, but now that I have had to spend my money on wax I will repeat: When you cannot use a razor to shave your armpits because they have become actual armpits LOL.
