Dumb question - I hope it won't offend
TinyTink replied to TinyTink's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
It's going to be a challenge to meet Fluid requirements if I don't feel the Water supply is safe. I guess I'll have to buy lots of bottled water at the airport when I land. -
Understanding my blood work (help)
TinyTink replied to Kathy Coop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Another RN here. Obviously you are anemic by your hemoglobin and hematocrit. The other values listed that are "off" are part of the differential and show the amount of different white blood cells. Glad you're being seen be hematology. I would like to see additional labwork performed for you as well. Anemia can certainly be caused by nutritional deficiencies, but can also be the result of chronic kidney disease, heavy periods, slow or fast GI bleeds, and even as a side effect of medications. Only you and your doctor can figure it out. -
So embarrassing but...I gotta ask anyway! Is anyone else suffering with horrible gas? Can this be treated?
TinyTink replied to armywife79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Certain foods cause more gas than others so it sounds like it diet-related. You can do a google search for gas-producing foods. There is a special kind of underwear that has a charcoal insert to filter and diffuse gas as it passes through. I think I also read somewhere about charcoal capsules. I haven't used either. -

You can try the GAS-X dissolvable strips. Walking helps too. -
FYI: The card is only good for driving into Mexico or Canada. It is not good for flying anywhere at all, including those two.

Pickles are a favorite of mine too. The thread linked above was one I started and I was overjoyed to hear I could have them again at some point.

Eating 7 days post op
TinyTink replied to aspells54@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please don't risk damaging your staple/suture line. Follow the postop diet so you don't hurt yourself. The last thing you want is a leak. -
I borrowed from my retirement savings. The interest rate was low, instant approval, and I pay myself back. Win-win!

3 Month Post-Op and feel good, but slow losing
TinyTink replied to SunnyPiper's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
For the best results you really need to meet your Fluid goals too. Sounds to me like you're doing great!! -
Please explain what you mean. If you're getting adequate fiber, your body has something to form stool with. This is why your pattern hasn't changed. Getting fiber doesn't cause malnutrition.

SO Tired of Protein Drinks!
TinyTink replied to bugsy72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate yogurt but really like the Dannon Light & Fit Greek that comes in cherry chocolate, or raspberry chocolate. I can almost pretend its cheesecake. Only 80 calories and 12 grams of Protein. Yum-o! -
Tried and true favorite is a shrimp platter. Yummy.

I have the unjury brand of unflavored. You can buy it on their website of the same name.

How much fiber are you getting?
-
Bravo for you, bravo for hubby!! I gotta tell ya, you are waaaaay kinder than I would have been. I'm sorry they've attempted to make you miserable. You must be doing great for them to keep at it like they do.

confued about pre op diet
TinyTink replied to Mr Shredder's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every doctor has their own prep. You don't list who it is so it's hard to help. -
Best of luck!! You'll do great!

Dr. Carlos Altamirono in Tijuana Mexico
TinyTink replied to ElizabethO's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You can email ana (at) bariatricpal.com. I don't want her to get spammed so insert the @ symbol. She is my coordinator. Tell her I sent ya! Good luck! They really are fabulous. -
Dr. Carlos Altamirono in Tijuana Mexico
TinyTink replied to ElizabethO's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My surgery is on the 9th but I can tell you from having a Skype session with him, that he is the real deal. I am an RN and did lots of research before choosing him, and the Skype session sealed the deal. He will also ask questions of YOU, which was a nice surprise. He wants to make sure you understand the process and how the sleeve is a tool for you. He has many youtube videos that are very informative as well. I was initially against Mexico too, but Dr. A. changed my mind. His outcomes are excellent and you can read about the hospital as well. My sweetheart won't be having the surgery, but if I had my choice I would definitely do it together. It seems most patients do quite well. If you book Dr. A. through BariatricPal, you will be assigned a valet and be up and shopping the next day and seeing the sights. -
I would make a call and explain your situation. There must be another option available to you for seeing a physician.

PatchMD vs Bariatric Advantage
TinyTink replied to NJGuy78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought the Patches (I'm still two weeks preop) but shortly after that I got an email from a competitor with some test results that allegedly prove the patches can't contain what they advertise. I'm going to use them up and see what my labs show in a few months. -
I'm sorry you're feeling sad. Know that you aren't alone. You've lost more than 100 pounds....that's fabulous!! Despite your mom's unkind comments you are doing a spectacular job. Are you still trying to lose and having trouble, or just upset about things right now?
