.I'm sitting in the Drs office now. The staff here have been great. Waiting on the Dr. Got my flu shot since I'm waiting anyway. -
Starting the process could use some encouragement

I'm a newbie too. Everyone here seems very knowledgeable and supportive. What about thinking of your reasons why? I'm scared of not being approved too but I won't know if I don't explore it. -
Approved - but Should I Go through with it?

I'm late to the party. ..I went vegetarian 2 years ago. I lost 30 lbs without trying. But I didn't make any healthy changes with it so the weight came back. You can definitely be an unhealthy veggie. Off to check out Dr weiner materials. -

Here anyway, you need to have a BMI over 40 with no co-morbidities, or 35 with. I don't know that I have comorbidities. There is heart disease and diabetes in the family. I've never been tested for diabetes and it's long over due. My BMI is around 43. Good idea about the progress charts. I have tried WW and myfitnesspal. (and others but nothing with documentation) -

I am thinking they will ask me to try a few things. None of my past weight loss efforts were ever documented as I didn't have a PCP between my pediatrician until this one a few years ago. And with that said, I've never actually met the physician since I've mainly been seen by the nurse practioner and the mental health nurse. This may happen. I live in a rural area and there are two physicians at the practice, both part time. There are nurse practitioner's as well but ultimately I have no idea at this point what any of their thoughts are. I have my appointment next week. -
Did anybody get surgery only letting minimal people know?

I broached the subject with my husband this weekend. I'm just in the thinking about it stage but I wasn't sure how he'd react. He has pretty old school thinking about weight and weight loss. He thinks if I move more it will be fine. His main concern is that my skin will be flabby and gross. However, after he has had some time to think about it he is a little more open to the idea. He still thinks I should be able to do this on my own but then as he wants me to be healthy. Good luck discussing this with your partner. It can be a hard topic to bring up. -

I'm just in the research process, but I think I will likely keep the information initially to husband, sister, mom. My brother likely would find out/be told as well but I don't know that I need to have that discussion with him.
