Claiming costs on your tax return
Anilyn replied to CanadaLoser's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What kind of expenses can be claimed? -
I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times (if not more). I've done a search and didn't find it though, so here I am. For the most part, my husband is on board. He wants me to be healthy. However, his main concern is that I will go through with all of this and then regain the weight anyway. I'm not really sure how to address the concern, because he's right - it could happen. Any ideas on how to alleviate his concerns? I have regained weight in the past. And I do make unhealthy decisions now. I get why he's thinking this, but I also don't want to be seen as the sum of my past failures.

Question for those who've chosen not to share their WLS
Anilyn replied to CHM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I initially planned to tell my husband, mom, and sister. Then I was having second thoughts so I toyed with the idea of waiting until after surgery to tell my mom and sister. But there have been a couple of conversations since and I hated being evasive so I shared. I won't be telling coworkers and possibly the only other family member will be my brother. This is a big deal. It's up to you and your comfort zone. -
Discussing it with the spouse

Good point. I feel like I've learned so much from my part attempts that I can be successful with the help of wls. -
Discussing it with the spouse
Anilyn replied to Anilyn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm learning that we need to talk about it in bits at a time. He doesn't process things very quickly. Since posting, he said at this point, he wants to know how to support me. I will involve him when/if I can. All of the appointments are 2.5 hours away, so it's hard without having him take time off work. And we don't have support groups here. I don't think anyway. I'm going to ask at the clinic. -

Anilyn replied to KeiKei's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where in Canada are you? I'm in Ontario and those I've talked to had theirs done within 8-18 months from start to finish. I just had my referral put in so I'm at the very beginning. -

@WLSResources/ClothingExch You fit in already. I'm good with older people. You need to be accepting of rabbits, and birds. And rabbit/bird poop and rabbit/bird destruction. -

No we haven't really talked about it. Now we do the pill and condoms (we really aren't up for kids) lol I'm just starting the process. My pcp had agreed to refer me for RNY. I likely have a year to wait. -

We don't want kids and just hadn't thought about either options. I would imagine he's uncomfortable with the idea. -

Interested in the answers. My PCP suggested that my husband have the big V, but I feel badly that he would need to do that because I'm purusing RNY. -
Hi there! Not sure if this is the right place to introduce myself but here I am. I have made an appointment with my doctor to talk about WLS. I have my doubts that he will refer me though because we have never talked about my weight before. With that said, I have struggled with weight for over 15 years. With some recent health issues, I have realized I need to do something because my current course of action is not working. I'm in Ontario Canada. 33 years old. BMI over 40. So, there it is.
