  1. So far only my mom and therapist know my plans to do the surgery. I recently mentioned it to my best friend and her response was "you don't need that! You're not big enough!" (My bmi begs to differ!) I haven't told my boyfriend yet and am really stressing about that. We met when I was thin and he's seen me fluctuate over the years, but I still think he sees me as I looked when we first met, and I'm afraid he might view me differently. I know I need to tell him and I will. Finally, I don't plan on telling anyone at work, which is causing me to rack my brain to figure out when to schedule it and how to take time off if needed (I'm a teacher and am praying that I can do it over a vacation week)!
  2. Hi fellow teachers! I don't have sleeve surgery scheduled yet, but am hoping to try and do it close to a school vacation week, with the intention of taking sick time if I need to. Two things: I am not yet tenured so I feel like taking the time off in advance isn't a wise decision and I should just call out. I just feel like until I have more time in this district, I'm always on the chopping block, and taking planned time off would be a black mark against me. Secondly, I'm not planning on telling anyone other than close family, and I wonder what people will say as they notice me starting to lose after possibly being out for a week.
