I am waiting on approval of roux en y for failure of three prior Nissen fundoplications. I do not meet weight requirements with a BMI of around 30. I have severe persistent asthma, stage 2 COPD, sleep apnea, severe reflux, giant recurrent hiatal hernia. I see surgeon and NUT again I'm Monday and we are hoping to do this by the end of the month. I'm 5'9" and weigh between 205-215 depending on the day and what medications I'm currently on. I have had new upper gi, egd, biopsies, manometry and ph testing within the last two weeks. I have had to follow very strict diet after previous fundoplication surgeries so I'm not as worried about after as much as the preop diet. I also may have to have a feeding tube for 8-12 weeks after surgery to allow healing and everything to "scar into place". Nervous, scared and excited all at the same time. I just want to breathe!!!!
