  1. For the last few days every time I swallow something no matter what it is I feel pain in my stomach. Feels kinda like it does when you have a lump in your throat. This happens no matter what I eat or drink. I could take the smallest bite or sip possible and still feel it. It even started hurting last night while I was sleeping and woke me up. This ever happened to anyone else? Should I be worried?

    Pain when swallowing

Thank you for the replies. I just took a small bite of egg and the pain was the worse it's ever been.
  3. I'm looking for a new surgeon in Lexington. Any suggestions?

    Anyone else bigger "down yonder"?

Not happening yet. I saw a doc on Oprah (was flipping through the channels and barely caught it) that said that for every 30 lbs you lose you gain an inch.

    8.2 fill no restriction

I'm at 6.5cc in a 14cc band with zero restriction. My doc has been putting 1.5 cc in every fill. Go back friday and hope I get at least a little restriction.

    I need relief!

I'm going for my 4th fill friday. Up to now I've been able to eat anything I want, 6.5 cc in a 14 cc band. I'm hoping that after friday I'll feel some restriction.
  7. Had my first fill on May 2. The PA found the port with no problems. When she put the needle in she took the primer that was already in the band out to see how much was in there. Then she did the fill. I think she put less then the amount of the original primer back in because I have zero restriction. It's like I don't even have the band in me anymore. I go back the 29th and hope that this is resolved.
  8. Due to billing issues between hospital and insurance. I'm bummed. :whatchutalkingabout Went in today for the final weigh in to see if I lost enough on the pre-op diet, lost 25 pounds. They informed me of a problem the hospital was having with my insurance about billing for the Lap-band. According to them the problem was on the hospitals end, they did everything they could to get it straightened out but couldn't. They were informed that it would be fixed within the next 30 days. That sucks because I'm going to have to go through the pre-op diet again.
  9. These things are nasty. My doc gave me the Arbonne Figure 8 Protein shake. Nastiest thing I've ever drank. The diet instructions say to drink 1-2 a day but since friday I've only drank 1. Are these nasty things really necessary if I'm only drinking them for protein?
  10. I would love to have Carnation Instant breakfast but it's a no no. :blushing:
  11. I'm on the same diet. Went to the store this evening to get some coffee and saw those roasted whole chickens. A picture of me eating one of them like a starving dog flashed in my head and I had to rush and get the coffee and get outta there.

    Holy Protein Cow! Cottage Cheese!

Cottage cheese has kept me from dying (not really :grouphug: ) on my pre-op diet. I'm allowed 3 servings of dairy a day, either skim milk, light yogurt or cottage cheese. I eat 2-3 servings of cottage cheese a day instead of the others because it's more filling. I've always like it to I just hope I feel the same way about it when after I'm banded.
  13. I'm a male who currently weights 421 pounds. I'm being banded on December 5th. I'm curious about what I can look forward to on weight loss in the long run?
  14. I'm going to call my Dr. tomorrow and clarify this but I would like your opinions. My pre-op diet instructions say: Reading that does it look like I can have any 3 of those on the list, either 3 cups of milk OR 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of CC, and 1 yogurt OR 1 1/2 cup of CC? Or does it look like I can on have just one of the items, 1 cup of milk or 1 yogurt or a 1/2 cup of CC? Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Yes it does. Thank you. That's what I've been doing except I've been eating the cottage cheese instead of yogurt because I don't really like yogurt. And the cottage cheese has been helping with keeping me from getting the empty feeling from not having solid foods while on the diet.

    Any December '08 Bandsters?

Got the call today. Insurance approved the surgery. My pre-op diet starts Nov 20, going to be banded on Dec 5.
  17. Hello everyone. Long time lurker first time poster. I'm finally on the path to having LapBand sugary, right now I'm doing some pre-op tests. Here's a question for you. How much does the EGD cost? My doc quoted $900 then the hospital quoted $2700. Does that sound about right? Or to high?
