  1. To all you newbies out there - don't believe all the happy people at a week out. Well you can believe what you want but I believed a little too much. Pre op... Up until the minute of my surgery I had read these forums. 99% of post op patients had what seemed to me, no pain. Like they were up playing baseball on day 2 post op. That wasn't the case for me. I am now almost five months post op and until about my sixth week I had huge regrets! I was week all the time. Exhausted. Depressed. HUNGRY. And on top of all that I only lost 8 lbs in that whole six weeks. It was insane. I literally wished I hadn't had the surgery. After the sixth week I started to feel good. Really good. Now at almost five months out I'm down 77 lbs and I feel like I am a new person. Hang in there. I promise it gets better. Some of us just take longer than others. Photo on the left is me on the morning of my RNY surgery (10:27/2015). Photo on the right is from today (4/15/2016). Day of surgery weight:356 Weight as of 4/16/2016: 379 Down 77 lbs
  2. Thanks to both of you. I mistyped my current weight - it's 279 (not 379). I've been in the 300s for 15 years... It's weird starting my weight with a "2"... Hence the mistake.
  3. Hi Chiquita! Believe me, I know exactly how you feel! I am now almost five months post op and until about my sixth week I had huge regrets! I was week all the time. Exhausted. Depressed. And on top of that I only lost 8 lbs in that whole six weeks. It was insane. I literally wished I hadn't had the surgery. After the sixth week I started to feel good. Really good. Day 4 post op and could use some support

Hi there. I'm new to posting but not to the site- I've been lurking for a month now. I remember feeling exactly as you do during my first week post op. I thought everyone on the site was a flat out liar - as it seemed not one person spoke of the misery in week one. I was miserable!! I'm four weeks out tomorrow and now am at a stall. All in all I'm not wowed by the surgery but I'm hoping it eventually breaks all this and I'll be in a better place. I still have days even now when I don't feel well. I do gave great days too so I can tell you it doesn't last forever and certainly not at the misery level you're at now. I hope this helps.
