  1. Hey...just checking on you since your surgery was today. Hope all is well. Thanks for checking in. Everything went well. I had trouble staying awake after surgery so I was in recovery longer, but it went smoothly. Lots of liquids and walking. Now some more sleep. So glad to hear it went well....congratulations!!! Happy for you!

    Liquid diet preop ?

Hi. The first three days were horrible for me also. I had migraines....I guess from caffeine withdrawal.

    Anyone getting sleeved 12/18?

I freak out about about once a day...lol! I'm ready too.
  4. Hello. I am a 45-year-old female from Birmingham, Alabama. I am currently scheduled to have the gastric sleeve on December 18, 2015, pending final approval. I can't believe I let myself get to this point. Over the years I was focused on finishing college and starting my career, then with some ups and downs of life added in...a car accident in which left me with the inability to walk for almost a year, caring for my mother who battled cancer and my sister who fell ill suddenly, both of whom died within 11 months of each other, then a brother who became ill and died at an early age....etc, etc....food became my comfort, and I eventually hit my highest weight of 280 last month. I have tried Weightwatchers three times, losing up to about 20 lbs each time, only to gain it back plus some. I've tried LA Weightloss....oh, my the money I spent on that program is just ridiculous! I've been a member of a gym for most of my adult life...thousands of dollars for that. I went to my PCP about a month ago, and she suggested I check into the sleeve. I was extremely hesitant, but with the words MORBIDLY OBESE constantly on my mind, I decided to do some research as well as listen to other people's stories on YouTube. I am excited as well as nervous. I've shared this with three people close to me and also a coworker. However, I sort of regret sharing with the coworker because I'm scared that I will fail at this. I'm scared that I won't be able to adjust my eating habits. I'm the person that has to have dessert... I am addicted to sugar. I'm scared that I won't lose weight or even worse that I will stretch my new stomach. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Please share any tips or advice. It's great to have a place to commuinic with others who are on the same journey.

    1st Consultation

Hey there....just wanted to comment that fortunately I like my doctor, but I'm not fond of his staff. This is a life changing event so you would think they would be more compassionate. Good luck with your surgery!

    Anyone getting sleeved 12/18?

Hey there! I'm scheduled for December 18th also. Yes, I started my preop diet last week...had a migraine for three days. Today was much better. I have to do four of the supplements per day (shake, bar, soup) and 4 oz. lean Protein and vegs. How's it going for you?
  8. I sure will! The hospital is about 45-50 mins away from where I live. I can't imagine having to drive three hrs! Best wishes to you with the surgery. Keep me posted.
  9. Hey...just checking on you since your surgery was today. Hope all is well.
  10. I understand your frustration. If I hadn't heard that my surgeon is supposed to be the best in town, I would have looked somewhere else. The coordinator is not great to work with and other staff aren't friendly. I mean, this is a life changing event so you would think they would return my phone calls. I had a couple of glitches with paperwork, but ot it straightened out . I hope everything is on track for my surgery this month. Good luck to you. I hope it works out. @@280journeyI'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't had a positive experience with my surgeons office. I had to call and email the office a total of six times (yes 6) to get a copy of my blood work so it would not be repeated by my endocrinologist and then be denied by the insurance. i received the blood work two days after I my appointment. The surgeons office did not send my orders over to have my preop testing done and they didn't call and get the endoscopy pre-authorized. Now the insurance is saying I owe over 6 grand. I'm hoping to win an appeal with the insurance. There are other minor issues as well. The only reason I'm staying with this office is because my surgeon is the very experienced and has been doing this a long time so I hope I won't regret my decision. However, without a doubt his staff certainly leaves a lot to be desired. Oh, wow...that's scary! I plan to let them know about how I've been treated....probably after surgery. The higher ups need to know. I hope your situation works out. How nice to have this forum to vent our frustrations.
  11. You are rockin' that cut! Looks great. My closet is full of black clothing. I bet people think I wear the same outfit every other day but I really have about 8 pairs of black slacks that I rotate. I occasionally add in gray or navy. I look forward to the change

  13. Thabjs, everyone for your comments. They are truly helpful.
  14. They allowed that? My hospital won't allow you to take a cab home from the hospital. It has to be a person you know or you have to use one of those companion services. I'm going to call tomorrow to find out their policy.
  15. These responses are truly appreciated. Thank you!
  16. Lol...well, maybe not then! Lmao. That would be me lol. @, if you don't mind me asking, how far are you on your journey?
  17. Thanks for your comment. I will definitely need my glasses. I'll probably have my ID and insurance cards in my bag also. Do I need to take a debit or credit card with me just in case?
  18. Sometimes I wish I hadn't told anyone either. It kind of stresses me out wondering if the people I told can keep it to themselves.
  19. I pray all goes well with your surgery! Keep me posted. Yes, we will get through this!
  20. How are you doing today? Any tips or advice?
  21. Thanks, everyone, for your comments. Before I posted I was having a bit of a pity party for not having someone to be there with me, so thanks for making me feel better. I'm nervous but I know it will be the best decision of my life.
