Hello. My name is Peter and I am a Catholic priest. For years I struggled with being overweight and being a public figure I had numerous people pointing out to me when I gained or lost. After awhile I was getting tired of constantly being looked at when they should be focused on the meaning of what I was doing at the Mass. In any case I did the sleeve after much prayer and spoke to spiritual advisors and they all offered their support. I am only 7 weeks out and feel like I have more energy than ever and no longer seem to have back pains. I sleep much better and I lost a lot so far. I think 45 lbs. I'm happy I did this and pray that I continue to be a success so that I can live a long time bringing the message of Christ in the world. This is not an easy thing and takes a lot of work. If you are a person of prayer ask the Lord to help and guide you and I promise you will be ok. The goal is to love the person God made you and me to be. Be well and I'm praying for all of you. Fr. Peter.

The other day I was craving sour cream and onion chips so I purchased a small bag and ate a few chips. Quickly I started to feel sick and threw up the chips. That's the last time I will listen to head hunger. I k ow it's tough nut we gotta do our best.

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"

I was fat most of my life. My being overweight caused me to shy away from going out playing because I wasn't good at sports and didn't want to be made fun of. Throughout my life I lost and gained. It seemed that I always packed on more weight after loosing. Now that Ian about to turn 40 I was having back pains and joint pains daily. I was always out of breathe and tired. My energy level was low. I just had enough. I had the surgery on October 26 and weighed in at 288. Today I'm down 30. Wow. I just hope to recover and be able to eat again. Now I'm in the mush stage. I still hate protein shakes. -

I enjoyed a huge polish meal prior to my liquid diet. The stuffed cabbage tasted so good too. -

If you weren't obese "all" of your life, what is it that caused you to become obese ?
faddapeta replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When I was in grammar school I was always the fattest kid, so it seemed, in all my school pictures. When I went to high school I was depressed and fat. I did loose weight junior year and senior year. College I became very fat my sophomore year. It seems like I lost and gained most of my life. Fat was a comfort for me. It was easy to eat my emotions away. Now the challenge is to find other things to keep me going besides the negatives. -
Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
faddapeta replied to Awjones28's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
"Oh my" "are you ok?" Did you see a psychiatrist? Wow you lost a lot of weight..you look too thin? Sometimes people are never f****** happy. That's why my friends we need to live our lives and not live what other people's ideas about our life should be. Keep smiling and stop explaining things to people. Who cares what they say? -
What's everyone eating for thanksgiving?
faddapeta replied to sarahbethemails's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I will attempt a small piece of turkey and I hope a small amount of pumpkin pie. Just enjoy every bite that you can take down. -
Are you eventually able to eat anything?
faddapeta replied to heidikate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When people say I am able to eat everything but in small portions, what does that mean? A salad plate full? A soup bowl full? A coffee saucer full? Spending a life looking weight and eating like a small bird makes me wonder if I made a mistake. Too late now. Please advise. -
I'm close to two weeks post op and a few times I felt regret. After three days in the hospital with bad complications, throwing up protein, and not being able to take down fluids I became scared. However, we need to keep going forward and we cannot revert to the past. No choice. Thank God I am a man of faith because I would be really depressed by now. I pray it gets better.

My friend you look great. I'm only two weeks post op and I lost like 30 lbs. I m worried that I will loose so much weight that I will look sick. Protein shakes are also hard to take down and I keep throwing them up. Any advice?
