M&S got a reaction from Babbs in Sleeve failure?
I think once again you're taking things personally. Wasn't intended that way in the least. I'm glad you don't like the thought of failing is what I meant. I'm two weeks out and have read there are people who feel like the surgery didn't work for them. So far my surgery and my willingness to follow my diet and exercise plan as worked out pretty well. I just stepped on the scales and from the day before surgery to now I'm down right at 15 pounds. This is in response to my "glad you don't like it" comment.

If you've lost 13-15 lbs in two weeks that is definitely what I would call success. Just stay on track and make the most of it. I am in the 12 lbs per month phase now and feel like I'm not as successful as I was then (where you are now). But I just saw my doctor on Friday and he said that I'm right where I'm supposed to be????

This has been an experience I truly wasn't prepared for. Not only the pain, and sickness but the feeling of just being so malnourished and weak. I have had issues with my weight most of my adult life but never did I realize how much I really loved food. You can't go anywhere. Watch anything on tv. Or go out with friends... That doesn't involve food I can't have. It's miserable. I keep telling myself it's only a few more weeks but it's the hardest recovery period I have ever gone through. I had a two level back fusion and a hysterectomy with complications that required an emergency surgery and blood transfusion the next day. This sucks. Big. Time. I am having my staples out Thursday and then registering for my stage two nutrition class. I don't see how people don't pass out on this clear liquid diet. I need nourishment. I'm becoming more emotional and not to mention very on edge. How do people get through these stages of eating like this? I'm ready for the "eat anything you want at much smaller portions" stage. Planning to do the high Protein every 2-3 hours thing once I'm released from the restrictions. My surgery weight was 195. Today I was 183. Goal is 130. Ready to get back into the gym too. Going to start with walking and swimming ASAP

Thanks so much to everyone who posted. I have cried so much this past week. Hating myself for having done this. I keep trying to focus on the weeks ahead and hopefully changing from wishing I hadn't done it to being happy I did. I just really want a cheddar bay biscuit from red lobster lol ????

tuna mashed up with some avocado, and egg and with a squirt of Sriracha mayo is still one of my favorite lunches. Though now I eat it in a hollowed out Tomato

Puree doesn't have to be liquefied....Just soft and the consistency of mashed potatoes
Refried Beans and top with grated cheese and/or sour cream and salsa. Ricotta cheese topped with a little Spagetti sauce. Egg salad. chicken salad. tuna salad. I was allowed soft scrambled eggs. Cottage cheese. ETC..

I loved pureed tuna! Get some of those flavored packets of tuna, blend them with a tasty sauce or dressing (NOT Water or broth, yuck). Put it in a little ramekin, sprinkle some cheese on top, and heat it up in the microwave.
You can do the same sorts of things with chicken, turkey, salmon, shrimp, ground beef, pork, etc. -- whatever meats your program allows, of course. There are all sorts of delicious sauces and cheese to add in and make your meal taste like a casserole without all the carby crap.
Refried Beans, poached eggs, cottage cheese (with dressing or PB stirred in is really good), Greek yogurt, all worked well for me too.

What are some of the best things to have in this stage? Sticking a can of tuna in a blender doesn't sound too appetizing lol

It feels like the pain is coming from whatever I'm swallowing. It's weird but hurts. I'm going to have my staples out tomorrow so I'll so then. I do have my gallbladder. Hope that's not it. Thanks for the heads up

I honestly didn't think I would have the regretful feelings they warned us all we probably would. Wel, I was wrong. I have never felt such self hatred in my life. I was so freaking mad that everything I was going through those first few days was all because I was unable to lose weight successfully myself. I was hurting, a lot... sick to my stomach, yet wanting to eat. I had my surgery on Tuesday, the 10. Wednesday evening was my first attempt on the clear diet and two sucks on a popsicle and I was throwing up. I was finally able to keep some of the clear liquid diet down and was discharged on Thursday. I will admit, I feel a million times better than I did those first few days... but I miss food so much. there is no going back, and I am confident that in a few weeks the regretful feelings will be gone. Tomorrow marks my one week out... and I have made a calendar that helps me track and set goals. I did weigh today and I am down 11 pounds. I know in my heart that I needed this tool to lose and keep off the extra weight I have battled with for so long. I guess I just wasn't prepared for the emotional side or how much it was going to hurt. Obviously, I enjoy eating... but I honestly didn't realize how much I really love food! If I could eat a small bite of grilled chicken right now, I bet it would taste like a big fat steak. the trade off in the long run will be worth it, and I keep telling myself that over and over. But for all those who are still in the pre op stage, I wanted to be honest with how my experience was. every one is different 10000% and I am not trying to scare anyone at all, but I just wish someone had told me the possible effects I would go through, I felt very unprepared I guess. Thursday I go to have my staples out and register for the stage two of eating class. baby steps, but steps in the right direction. Thanksgiving is going to be difficult, but I am hoping to be able to handle creamed potatoes and maybe a bite or two of shredded turkey that's been soaked in gravy for the moisture. I know every surgeon is different, and google searches have given me so many different options... I m sticking with what my surgeon has laid out for his patients but I gotta say... I am so sick of broth and Jello, but thankful im not sick or hurting too much anymore

I have been watching videos from people who have had the gastric sleeve on YouTube, and there is one girl on there who I really like. She has also started another channel for low carb cooking. It's Laura's vsg tube in case anyone else would like to follow her. She's funny, down to earth, honest and very helpful.

Would love to connect with you! I actually struggled to get my bmi to 35 to be approved for surgery. I had struggled with a bmi of 32-34 for years. I just feel so awful all the time. No diet or woke out routine has worked except for maybe 5 pounds. So frustrating. Right now I'm around 197 and I'm 5'3" tall. I'm 41... We have 5 kids, ages 21,19,16,11,&3. I want to be an healthy and active as possible for our little one. I'm nervous about the lifetime changes but I'm hoping after feeling and looking much better it will be a compromise I don't mind making ????. I live in nc...
