I can't keep the protein shakes down, they are so sweet they make me nauseous. What else can I do? Smoothies with protein maybe?

What is your Anthem?
kyear replied to JellyBellyNoMore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I decided before my surgery that Worth It by Fifth Harmony was gonna be mine. I've always had a slight issue with my own feeling of worth so I play the song when I get down and out. ☺️ -
I had a surgery on Tuesday and drove back to college on Saturday. I kept a pillow over my sorest incision and had it tucked in my seat belt for bumps or anything. It helped a lot.

Update: talked to NUT she replied (we text) "The only one is at smoothie king is called a gladiator. Google cyntrax. They have lemonade and others. They have sample packages." I got a strawberry blueberry one this morning and I tolerated it well. I seem to be able to tolerate fruit flavors but not artificial or chocolate/vanilla flavored. Only problem was, I drink them fast enough and mine got whipped and became too texturized for me to handle. I may look into the Protein powder you can put into things. PS. today's victory? I can eat really soft noodles and that is so exciting bc everything is so nauseating lately.

Smoking after Surgery
kyear replied to rosebud_char's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I lit a cigarette is was more to prove to myself that what I was craving was in the past. I wanted to prove to myself that I didn't "need" it anymore. It may not make sense, but it helped me a lot. I took one puff off a cigarette, I don't think it did much harm. And I'm fully quit now, so no future harm. It was just reassurance. -
Smoking after Surgery
kyear replied to rosebud_char's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for not judging me btw and thanks for sharing your experience. No problem, I am blessed to have this surgery. Blessed that I killed two birds with one stone. Stay strong, you won't regret it! -
We have a place called smoothie king, I'm going to look at their nutritional values and then decided and discuss with NUT tomorrow. If that isn't permitted then I will try making my own!

Smoking after Surgery
kyear replied to rosebud_char's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly I wondered, but after surgery my appetite for a cigarette was carved. I have no want or interest in them. Your body is going to completely change in its desires and cravings. I lit one, and tried one huff and threw it out. It gives you gas that's painful and it tastes awful now. -
Is there anything wrong with getting a smoothie? The thought of most all food right now is repulsing.. I can barely tolerate smells. I'm going to try to make the soft scrambled eggs because eggs are protein

I am obviously craving to smoke. However, I have heard horror stories and stories about people who smoke through the whole thing. I don't want to smoke. So, please start giving me all the reasons I shouldn't so my brain will maybe quit craving it!

How minimal is scarring? Is there ways to prevent? Just had my surgery. Two days post op. Just wondering how the incisions will look over time.

I'm 4 days post op and my glue is starting to come off. I'm kind of freaking out because it's only be 4 days & I don't want any complications! Is this normal?? I just need some peace of mind if it is, and if it isn't what should I do? (ER, call doctor, ect.) Thanks so much!

Thank you all!

Oh okay! Lol I was so confused! Thank you for the clarification!

This is me now, 3 days post op. Should I wait for the glue to naturally fade to put anything on it? Thank you for all the advice!

Meal Plans and Nutrionist Vs Paperwork
kyear posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, my surgery was yesterday morning. I was released from the hospital today, and before I left my Nutrionist came to see me. She told me that I could have mashed potatoes, yogurt, cottage cheese, and 1 caffeinated coffee per day. However my paperwork she gave me doesn't say that. I'm still on Clear liquids diet and she knows this. What do I follow? I haven't had issues yet with throwing anything up. I'm terrified to throw anything up because it hurts so much to cough and sneeze. Can someone please tell me how painful it is to have to throw up? And suggestions on what my Nutrionist said vs the paperwork she gave me? Kylie -
Meal Plans and Nutrionist Vs Paperwork
kyear replied to kyear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Update: I called my NUT and she said I could have all of that but to try one thing at a time to see how my body reacts. She said because of how fast I'm healing it was okay, and just to make sure I'm getting enough Fluid. Today, I've had half a Protein shake, Water, and I'm currently eating mashed potatoes and French style green Beans. I'm just making sure I chew everything up into mush really well. Nothing has hurt me or given me pressure yet! I am amazed since this is only two days post op. -
Meal Plans and Nutrionist Vs Paperwork

Thank you so much for the support! I will call today and clarify! She had told me that my body was healing very rapidly. (Doctors have always told me I over heal) but, I'm still sore and I don't want to throw anything up! I ate some whipped cream mixed in with my jello last night, and nothing happened thankfully. Again thank you all for the reinforcement of my worries; I wanted to make sure I wasn't being a pest in calling her about it -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
kyear replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My last straw was when I seen professional pictures of myself. When you take selfies or even full body pics you can contour your body to look better than it is, But wedding photographers don't lie. It wasn't my wedding but when the picture came through I knew that was it. I already had my surgery scheduled when I saw the picture, because I had been pondering it and decided to give it a shot, but the photo made my full decision to give it my all. -
My surgery was yesterday morning. Recovery was the worst part of it all when you first come off anesthesia before any pain medicine. After a few hours sleep with pain meds, I felt significantly better. I walked around 50 laps around the nursing station last night and woke up feeling amazing this morning. I even got a shower in and put my make up on and sat in a rocking chair most the day. I'm weaning myself off the pain medicine, which I'm not sure is a good or bad decision. However I will say, my appetite is at none. I finally ate some broth to get the gas coming out of the bottom end. After the initial pain of recovery, the worst part is literally the pressure of the gas in your chest. I found a system that worked well. Drink drink drink walk about 5 laps repeat! The Water actually helped my gas escape and dissipate. I weigh 315 lbs. Here's the incisions to expect, and they will be sore. But they will get better! Good luck to you all!!
