    Change of plans..

I was in your shoes too. I am still pre-op but am now at peace with the idea of bypass. It seems like the best bet.
  2. Unflavored protein powder added to everything? Please find a way to eat more. You will only lose muscle this way which is very bad.

    Medicare Process?

Medicaid and Medicare are ENTIRELY different. Medicaid is based on low income. Medicare is a federal program based on age or disability. Has anyone used MEDICARE?
  6. I would not trust that surgeon with this. I'd find the most reputable bariatric surgeon in your area or nearest LARGE metropolitan area and have them look at it, ASAP!
  7. The federal government allows 12 weeks of unpaid family leave.

    Stalling out already...

Do not worry. Fluids affect our weight, as you know from dieting. You are also building muscle which is GREAT! If you are following your plan, you are doing fine! Wait until next week!

    Medicare Process?

Medicare is a federal program and no longer requires a medically supervised diet. It does require that you have tried to lose weight.

    Psyche Eval

Our psyche eval is in two parts. I had my first meeting with the psychologist yesterday. I completed some personality tests and we talked for 50 minutes. The second meeting will be at least two weeks later. After the second meeting, she will write her report. This is the last step before my file goes to the insurance phase. How do other programs do the psyche eval?

    BMI 40-41 and pre-op diet

I have never heard of that.
  12. My pre-op visits should be completed by Wednesday but I am having trouble getting a definitive answer from the surgeon's office about my endoscopy. I had an endoscopy in July 2014 (with an H-pylori biopsy). At my consult the surgeon seemed to say that was acceptable but when I received by pre-op orders, endoscopy was listed. Argh. If I have to do that again my surgery date will be pushed back at least a month since getting the endoscopy scheduled this time of year gets tough. (Since I have sleep apnea, the procedure must be done at the hospital and not the outpatient surgery center.) I have been researching this for a decade and finally am at the point where I KNOW this is the right choice for me, Now I just want to get done. I am also dreading the two week pre-op diet. I imagine being starving for two weeks straight.
  13. I met with the exercise specialist today and have my pre-op exercise plan. Essentially, 5-10 minutes of stretching daily; 20 minutes of strength training 3 days a week; 30 minutes of aerobic heart-rate range activity 3-5 days a week; 30 minutes of "activities of daily living" (walking dog, etc.) daily I have a daily log sheet that must be turned in 3 weeks from now. The appointment included a detailed body fat analysis with an INBODY 520 machine, going over the heart rate calculations, examples of various types of activities, etc., and resources. Tonight is my Water aerobics class which will complete 3 of the four requirements :-) I am interested in hearing about other's pre-op exercise plans!!!
