In Illinois, insurance companies must respond within 30 days. From what I hear, most do not take that long.

Also in Chicago area and having surgery in January, if all goes as planned!

I never see Pure Protein products mentioned here. Is there some reason not to use that brand?

No date yet but shooting for the 18th of Jan. My pre-op requirements are completed...just waiting for the surgeon's office to review everything. I can't wait to have a date!!!!

I hate to cook and need some easy bariatric recipes that my kids will eat too. I have a turkey chili that they love. Can you share any other VERY easy recipes that you have found? One pot, crock pot, casserole?

A friend of mine joined some closed bariatric surgery groups which is how I found out she was interested in or had surgery.

The only groups that no one can see that you are in are secret grouos....that's what makes them secret.

I understand that I cannot find secret groups, I am hoping to be invited when I meet anyone who is a member.

I am pre-op and following an exercise program. For aerobic exercise I am doing water aerobics which I enjoy and have been doing on and off for years. I absolutely cannot imagine getting through these workouts on a low carb and low calorie diet. I am currently counting calories, using My Fitness Pal, and I use all my extra "exercise" calories. How do you handle exercise????

Do most surgeons require the bowl prep?

CLOSED groups or SECRET? In closed groups, posts are private but anyone can see that you are in the group.

I guess the disconnect is that it isn't just caloric intake, it is using the fuel your body has stored...which is the whole point :-)

Are the facebook groups secret?

The idea of working out on 600 calories just doesn't make sense....especially without carbs. I don't get it.

I overheard a woman in my hospital's Water aerobics class mention that she won't be getting a surgery date in December, as hoped, due to a lack of beds as people try to get procedures done by year-end for insurance purposes. I am only waiting for my psych eval to be completed (next week) and my insurance does not pre-certify so I was **really** hoping this might still happen in December. Bummer!!!! I'll use the extra time to exercise and lose some more pounds but the waiting is maddening. I am sure I will feel better as soon as everything is cleared and we can set a surgery date. I am so ready!!!!!

I was hoping to find a "secret" Facebook group for suppoet. I asked a couple people I know who had surgery but have not found one.

Mine is 14 days of protein shakes along with one meal per day of lean protein and non-starchy veggies.

I would make am appointment with a doctor at Bridges.

Does jello count as a fluid?
