DILATED ESOPHAGUS LAP BAND REMOVAL
crustymouse23 replied to crustymouse23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you!!! I haven't had fill in 3.5 years. I'm planning on going on belviq soon after I have my lap band removed. Just to clarify your better eating habits were already ingrained in you? For instance now I don't really eat/enjoy burgers, pizza as I did band.. Since I can't eat them I don't care for them. I think I'll just stay away.. A lot of those things don't really speak to me either. -

Hello, I hope you found everything to be okay after your visit to the doctor. How long did it take your esophagus to heal back to normal? Was it extremely dilated? -
esophagus dilation and lap band removal HELP!
crustymouse23 replied to crustymouse23's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you for your response! Well I spoke to the nurse and I kept asking if they expected me to gain weight in order to qualify for the sleeve. She finally when to ask the surgeon and apparently he said No. I don't know if you read my forum question from above but I don't quite remember if you mentioned you had a dilated esophagus as well. I am planning on going on Belviq after the lapband removal. -

Band to Sleeve revision is done and I am feeling great!
crustymouse23 replied to thetig's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
What was your bmi that allowed you to have the revision?? Just curious because from being fine and gaining 20 lbs doesn't seem like much. Im getting my lapband removed and supposedly I don't need to gain weight to be approved of getting the revision if I maintain my current weight. -

You will be great. I am a firm believer you are making the right choice, especially because you have children in your hands. Having this type of procedure, I am sure you will take this tool and give your children the proper nutrients they need with great healthy habits. With the sleeve, weight loss and proper diet, you will be able to be there for your children and much healthier in the long run. My prayers go out to you and your fam. YOU GOT THIS! -
Welcome to my life right now. I'm getting my band taken out on dec. 2 due to a dilated esophagus & it's taken a complete emotional toll on me. After viewing all these complications of what a lapband cans do, I know it's for the best. The surgeon says I can't get the sleeve until a year, but we'll see how my esophagus looks like in a month.

I've struggled with my weight all my life. My mom's put me on a diet for as long as I remember and never felt good enough unless I'd loose weight. The first diet I was on was Jenny Craig @ 7years old and throughout my teen years I've been on everything. After HS a "blossomed" to a whopping 243 and finally decided I needed to do something about it and went on weight watchers, lost 50 lbs and it was marvelous. Until times at home got darker. I became an emotional eater and gained about more then 1/2 the weight back. It's become a major psychological thing wanting what you cant have Fooooooooood. In 2007 I decided to get the lapband & it's helped me from eating less, but also the food around me was not as taboo. sorry for my rambling AND HERE'S MY POINT: I went for an upper GI last week and it shows I have a dilated esophagus. I went to the surgeon yesterday and he told me he needs to take it out. I was hoping for a conversion when they were already in there, but that's not going to happen. Maybe in another year I can get the sleeve, but in the meantime my esophagus needs to heal. I believe almost everyone who takes their lapband out gains all their weight. The thought of that devastates me. I feel a piece that's helped me feel better about me is getting taken away to return to the old days.I expressed myself to my bf and even some people around me and their answer is: EAT LESS! Just WORK OUT!. It's not that quite simple. I've read your hunger SOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAARSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS after. I'm scheduled for Dec 2 and as of right now I feel unbelievably defeated and can't help to think, whats the point of working out after or even now... if im going to gain the weight all back?? My plan is after I have the procedure I'm going to be on Belviq to help control my appetite. I'm so scared. Has anyone ever heard of people actually maintaining after removal??

Lap band removal and mortified.

bless you!! and thank you!! Did you change your ways of eating while you were on the band? If so, did you did you take that with you when your and was taken off? or did any of your old cravings come back? Thank you!! -
I just read your response for this person as well. I'm definitely trying to uplift my spirits in every way! I guess it's all about calorie counting and keeping active! I wonder if after so many years, one's stomach does actually shrink. Hi! Life without the band has been good and bad. I am constantly struggling with trying to lose weight. I eat between 1200 to 1500 calories per day. I walk 30 to 45 minutes each day. I also do Zumba 3 times a week for 60 mins and strength training twice a week. I feel like I am not getting very far with weight loss. I haven't gained. As far as physically, I feel soooooo much better! I don't have reflux anymore and I can sleep on 1 pillow instead of 8 pillows. I still feel some restriction due to the smaller size of my stomach, I can eat more but i get full usually on half a sandwich. I still try to focus on healthier options. No more vomiting thankfully. Occasionally I have some heartburn but it is very mild and I have a history of it prior to band anyways, but definately has improved since band was removed. Today is October 4th and I can easily do ab workouts at Zumba class. I actually started working on abs about 4 weeks after removal, starting slowly and knowing my limitations and stopping when too uncomfortable. I do not regret the removal at all. It is such a relief for me. I am planning on revising to bypass hopefully next month. Best of luck to you on your band removal, you will feel better once removed. Hopefully I answered your question. If there is anything else specific that you would like to know, I would be happy to tell you anything that can help

Thank you so much for your reply! I truly appreciated it! I guess I am afraid of what the future holds. Personally I'm not into burgers, pizza,, Pasta because I could not eat them. My worry is if my now that I am actually going to be able to consume these things, will I suddenly crave them. I definitely will look into a cognitive behavioral therapist! I love it when I am given specifics because I have somewhere to look. Thank you again for the reassurance! -
