    Feb 23 Sleevers!

I feel like I'm running out of time too! I was told I wouldn't be required to do a pre op cause I'm lower bmi, but I asked for the plan. From what I read the lower your surgery weight more overall % you can lose. My kids are too young. They don't know. I have one more day of work! I'm getting excited! I have to get though tomorrow. Run a billion errands on saturday. Spend a lazy day with the family on sunday.... then finish packing. Are yalls out patient?

I don't get soups im keeping my limit under 900 calories a day. I'm doing fairly well so far. I found that taking an acid reducer helps with hunger.... wierd, I know.

I found a company in texas that will test for a hiatal hernia and will bill your insurance for the hernia if you have one. You just pay out of pocket for the sleeve itself. It's taken about 6-8 weeks from when I started the process until getting my surgery. Email me if you'd like some more info
  6. @@AnnainMS I found a doc in dallas that is willing to bill my insurance for the hernia and then just have me pay out of pocket for the sleeve itself. It's going to cost me about $2500 over my max out of pocket. All in all it ends up being less than going to Mexico. And my insurance covers my NUT appointments 100%. I do them via video confrence. I fly into dallas in 10 days to get my sleeve!
  7. I have recently found out that since Obama care passed alot of insurances cover visits with dieticians 100%. Mine does! So that's a plus side to going to Mexico is that you can still find a NUT here that can help you

This Pre-Op diet is the pits.

My biggest set back was the shake being gross (which I found one I like) and the protien bars having been different (which I exchanged). Now that I had that sorted it was really easy to stick with it today. I'm not really struggling with hunger right now. Temptation from knowing I can't have X, but not true hunger. Which is easier to fend off for me. I'm gonna slowly trim my pre op and see how I do without the meal. Right now I'm doing the meal for dinner so if I end up feeling the need for food, then I can just have my "lean meal" for dinner as usual (I've meal planned so it just has to be thawed).
  9. So I started my pre op diet a day early yesterday. I wanted to allow for any mishaps or problems. Boy am I glad I did..... the protien powder I picked was the worst, the protien bars I liked had a mix up at the factory and weren't the same ones, i was falling asleep at my desk by 2pm, and I also got hit with a huge emotional blow yesterday. I did well all day, but ended up caving to have dinner. All in all I failed yesterday, I guess it's a good thing it was a trial run. So I went to the store to exchange the bars, found a different powder, I'm taking a B Vitamin to help with energy, and I found a way to handle the emotional blow.... Today is the official start day. Hope to do better today. I just try to keep reminding myself that this is for a good reason. Was it hard to stick to the pre op? What helped you?

Isopure protien shakes are really yummy! I had chocolate today and didn't feel like I was drinking a protien shake at all.
  11. We can still be surgery buddies anyways! I can just give you a head up on post op stuff!

Btw If anyone else is struggling to sleep like I have been, your local grocery store or pharmacy should carry chewable melatonin. I take two 3mg tablets before bed. Works like a charm. Melatonin is naturally produced by your body to help you sleep so it shouldn't be an issue

    Any FEBRUARY sleevers?!

im getting a hiatal hernia fixed with my sleeve too! What do you mean by rough? Keeping liquids down or incision site pain or perhaps something else? I'm glad you are feeling better! My surgery is on Feb 17tbI'm getting it fixed with mine as well. The hernia fix is actually covering most of my surgery. I'm just paying put of pocket for the sleeve itself

This Pre-Op diet is the pits.

That's the great thing is I'm tempted of course but I'm not really hungry. We had a snow day here today so I had to stay home from work. I'm occupying my time by cleaning as much as possible. It'll be helpful in the long run I think. If I deep clean now I won't have to worry as much once I have my surgery. trying to stay positive. It's much easier with a shake and protien bars I like. I'm allowed to have one meal with lean meats and non starchy veggies. I think next week I may cut out that lean meal and just do shakes and bars. Any of yall opted to do liquids and bars only?
  16. Where did you have yours done at? I'm having mine done in Dallas in about 2 weeks. I will also be in and out in one day. This doesn't seem to be the norm.

    Telling people

I am current just over 2 weeks until my sleeve as well. The important people know. My office thinks I'm having a hernia repair, which isn't a lie. I've been losing weight steadily for the past month or so and because of my starting bmi I'm expected to be a slow loser. But if someone asks I plan to tell them that I'm eating smaller healthier portions and exercising. Which also isn't a lie. Forewarning..... other overweight people are not always supportive so don't bank on that and tell them. They alot of times get mean. Of the few friends I've told the skinny ones are supportive. One overweight person was supportive (she is currently in the same process), but the other overweight person was a complete turd about it.
  20. Did you lose on your pre op? How much? Atleast you're in full liquids for a shorter duration. I 3 weeks full liquids, and 3 weeks of pureed. My procedure is the 23rd :/
  21. How strict was your diet? Mine is 2 protien shakes, 3 protien bars, one meal lean meat and non starchy veggies
  22. How much did you low BMIers lose on the pre op diet? I start mine this Monday and I'm curious.
