It was very yummy @@Bluesky1 I've never had the laughing cow cheese before. This one was garlic herb flavored and it was delish! I've always had some issues with constipation but it gets so old. Now it's worse than ever :/

I've been using baby spoons to help with portion control. I found these and they work well and don't look like baby spoons. I am now on mushies. Mashed potatoes. Scrambled eggs. Soft cheeses. Deli meats. Crackers. pudding. Etc. Today for lunch I brought 4 crackers, 2 slices of thin deli meat, and 1 wedge of laughing cow cheese. I was only able to eat half of it at one time. But as far as liquids go I cab do about 1/2 cup at a time. According to my NUT that's right where I should be. I typically only get in about 40-50 oz of liquid each day. It's definitely hard. I've now lost a total of 16lbs since surgery. But I've slowed down quite a bit this week. Only a 3lb loss I think. But as long as it isn't a gain it's still going in the right direction. I'm back at work now and find it alot easier than I thought it would be. Have yall had issues with constipation?

@@Angie74 I started off on the lower end as well. My highest was 224lbs. Surgery weight was 203lbs. Current weight is 188lbs. I think your right on track. I'm in the famous 3 week stall. I'm now onto mushy foods.

188. :/

The time is flying by isn't it! I had originally planned to go back this past Monday but my doc won't release me until this up coming monday. I have a desk job so I don't have to worry about lifting. I'm not sure if I wanna go back yet or not. It's been nice to just sort of hang out.

How are yall doing? Yall back to work yet?
-
Since surgery?! Thats impressive! I've only done about 15lbs myself. Way to freaking go! Is mushies like puree?

What was your 'a-ha' moment?

When I looked back at pictures from our first family vacation and my boys (7 and 6 at the time) very first time at the beach. And of the almost 1,000 pictures I took, I realize I was only in 2 of them. Which made me realize I didn't get in the water. I didn't play on the beach. I didnt snorkel in the shallows with them. I was exhausted from biking around sanibel island all morning and needed a nap and they missed out on half a day of fun. So many things. We had such a wonderful time, but I wasn't really "present". And I refuse to let my boys grow up that way. I'm better than that, and my boys deserve better. I'm now 15 days post op and am down 34lbs since preop and 50lbs left till I hit my goal. -
We're allowed to want to be skinny too. My BMI on surgery day was 32. I have back issues and I want to be happy again. There's been tons of research that proves it very beneficial for lower bmi patients to have the surgery done so as to avoid the detrimental affects of the comorbidities that occur at higher weights were being proactive. Nothing wrong with that

What's you're diet like? Are you getting in enough protien? What's your typical calorie count? Are you exercising at all? What was you're starting bmi? -

I dropped to 191.4lbs today! I'm not longer considered obese! I'm now just "overweight" WWOOOOOHOOOOO! -
I am on a PPI too. I forget to take it sometimes. I'm not hungry really, but I slowly progressed myself to purees and some soft foods over the weekend. sugar free stuff made with a sugar alcohol called sorbitol can have laxative effects. Sorbitol is actually what makes prune juice so effective because it has very high levels of sorbitol in it. I like Isopure, but it's not very sweet. I have to be very careful with the protien shakes because I'm lactose intolerant so I have to make sure it's a protien isolate. Otherwise it'll make me very sick. So I'm probably not the best for advice on those im down 14lbs now. I went about 3 days without losing. But I'm back to dripping weight again. My other half noticed I was losing weight about a week ago (he's very detail oriented) and it's actually freaking him out. He said the only people he knows who dropped weight so quickly was very sick and died. Even though he logically knows it's not that, he still gets weirded out about it. Yeah sometimes acid pains can mimic hunger pain. You're probably feeling weak and tired because you haven't had much calories. Thats probably going to change once you get progressed to the next stage at your next doctors appointment.

192! Four pounds gone forever!

How is everyone doing? I finally broke the short stall I was in and dropped 2lbs. I went back to work today but then my office asked for a work release. When I called the doctor to get it I was told that I wasn't supposed to go back until 3 weeks. So I left and am back home until next monday.

I'm just 2 weeks post op as of today. And I've lost 14lbs. I started at 223 and a bmi of 34. Then lost 9lbs. Then went on the preop diet and lost 10lbs and at 204 on surgery day with a bmi of 32. I've lost 12lbs since surgery and am now at 192lbs and a bmi of 30! I can't wait to see what the next few months bring! -
"He subsequently developed the technique of staging the intestinal bypass procedure by performing the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy first as an initial stage.8 From 2001 to 2003, seven patients with a BMI of 58 to 71kg/m[2] underwent a first stage sleeve gastrectomy with a subsequent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. The average EWL was 37kg (33%EWL) and this allowed for a safer second stage. These preliminary results quickly popularized the procedure as a safer laparoscopic option for the higher BMI group."

That's definitely true! There are perks. One is that my closest friend at work is a guy and I can tell him ANYTHING without worrying about him blabbing to everyone. ????

This unfortunately isn't an option for me. I work in the automotive industry where 99% of my coworkers are men. And at my job of that 99% male populous, over half are gym nuts. They would never understand. They are all about this supplement and that workout and how long they spent in the gym and how much they bench...... Yada yada. It came in handy when I was looking for some guidance on protien shakes and bars. Which is also pretty lucky because mostly they just leave me alone and congratulate me on the loss.

Any FEBRUARY sleevers?!
JapGirl replied to Salinagetssleeved's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Got it the day I came home and that is very weird for me because I have a mirena and haven't seen one of those in over 4mos. I googled it and it seems to be pretty common Sent from my ALCATEL ONE TOUCH 4037T using the BariatricPal App Mine has finally ended. Thats why it's so wierd for me as well, I have a mirena. My last cycle was at the beginning of January. I wasn't expecting one again until late March or early April-ish. And i bloated so much more than normal. Hopefully I'm on the down wind side and will lose the bloat now! I gained 1lb from it. :/ -
So the sleeve was "invented" for super high bmi patients as a precursor to having the bypass..... kind of like a "step 1" if you will. The pouch with bypass is smaller I believe (I may be wrong) but they still removed the same portion of your stomach that contributes to the "hunger" hormone named Ghrelin. But don't let this he a deciding factor. This is where a large portion of the hormone is currently made, but it is not the ONLY place it is made. You're hunger will eventually return. But going with the sleeve doesn't mean you can't get a bypass revision done later on, like I said the sleeve was originally performed on super high bmi patients as a first step. This was done to get their weight down enough to lower the risks of doing a bypass procedure. The lower your weight at surgery the less your risk of complications. So to spur weightloss to be able to more safely perform a bypass, doctors started doing the sleeve first then revising later on. The biggest thing to help decide this is.....Do you want to deal with the malnutrition issues that can plague bypass patients? How high is your bmi? Are you willing do deal with dumping syndrome? I should note that not all gastric by pass patients dump, and some sleevers do. It's kind of a toss up. Are you willing to take the higher risk of the bypass? Bypass means being under for longer and is a longer procedure, can your health risk it? This and many more are things you want to consider. Do your research and have a real "come to jesus" talk with yourself and be honest with what you are willing to handle. Both are good options..... but they are both permanent.

I'm trying to get most of it in as water. I go back to work in a few days and I'll only have water there. Yesterday I did just over 50 ounces. Man this is hard
-
I also started trying to lose weight about 2 months before so I was already losing a substantial amount of weight before hand too
-
I never ate huge amounts before. And my only coworker who knows helped. He always made announcements like "that's all you're eating? I swear this woman never eats." I don't know if it was intentional but it made it alot easier to not draw attention when I came back from surgery.
