Ursula Warren

My name is Ursula.  I have spent a lifetime fighting my weight.  Sometimes successfully, but mostly unsuccessfully.
 
I have been overweight all of my life.  In high school, I took up running, volleyball and softball, and committed myself to two hours of exercise per day, every day.  With those efforts, I was able to bring my weight down to a healthy level.  But then, life kicked in.  I graduated, got married, had my first child on our first wedding anniversary.  I certainly didn't have time to exercise 2 hours a day!
 
So I resorted to dieting.  Weight Watchers, TOPS, Atkins, the grapefruit diet, the cabbage soup diet, counting points, counting fat, counting carbs, I've done it all.  Yet here I am.  At the heaviest weight of my life, and looking at my 50th birthday.
 
But there is good news.  At almost 50, my two kids (27 and 15) are old enough that I now have time to do some things for myself.  I married the one great love of my life on September 5 (at the heaviest weight of my life), and now I'm starting off with improving my nutrition.  On November 10, I will have gastric bypass surgery.  I can't wait to see what life looks like when you're not hiding behind anything and everything you can find.
 
I'm looking forward to reduced pain in my knees, ankles and feet.  Less swelling, and less breathlessness with minor exertion.  I'm looking forward to a second chance at getting this right.
