I think you should just say, "Oh, I had to have surgery, something minor" and change the subject. Most people will get that you don't want to give them details and leave it alone. And if someone presses, then say, "I don't really like to talk about it".

I was banded on November 17th. For a few weeks, I felt amazing restriction and even wondered if I'd need a fill... but in the past week, it's like I've had an almost sudden loss of restriction. I'm able to eat way more than I know I should be. The other night, I ate 3 pieces of pizza (thin crust)! I was completely stuffed, but I was able to eat it without feeling sick. My question- could my band have slipped with all of my overeating? I have to admit that reading this board causes frequent paranoia in me, but I know that if it's a highly probable possibility, then you guys will let me know

Thanks guys- I do feel better. It's something that's been rolling around in my head for a few days and I knew I just needed to throw it out there Heather- eat ONE piece of pizza? I'm confused....

Tina, I know this isn't anything new you're hearing- but I really think you just need to slow down and take smaller bites and chew well. -
antidepressants/psych meds?

I was told not to take anything smaller than a pencil eraser, and my welbutrin is just small enough. -
As far as eating and drinking at the same time? I see a lot of you eat cereal, and it's on my doctor's suggested list of okay foods... but I'm a little confused about it.

I will admit that the rules have been more like guidelines for me.

I agree with Firewheel, if you can take a week, do it. I had my surgery on Thursday and was back to work on Monday. I was sore, but I have a desk job, so I didn't have too much moving to do. Good luck!

Good luck! I'm sure you'll be glad to be home sooner than planned

Way to go Anne! That's a huge weight lifted, I'm sure. Hopefully soon I'll be able to be as comfortable with myself as you are.

Good luck Angie! I hope things go your way

I wonder the same thing all the time. It's sad, but I'm constantly thinking, "when I get thin I'll be able to look good". Why can't I look good now? I see plenty of beautiful plus sized women who obviously take great pride in who they are. But for some reason, I don't put the same effort into looking good. I guess a lot of it is my "security blanket". I really just want to blend in right now. You can look at it this way-atleast you were wearing a skirt! I can't even get the guts to wear one of those on a thin day

Emily, I take the extended release Welbutrin. They're very very small. I haven't had a problem with them yet. -

antidepressants/psych meds?
StephanieRaye replied to Monica S's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I originally started welbutrin to quit smoking, but I also had some depression- so my doc kept me on it long term. I've been on it for almost 3 years now. When I first started the welbutrin, I was able to see life as "half full" and lost 86lbs on atkins. My willpower and determination were unstoppable. I'm not really sure what happened, but suddenly I lost track of that determination and slowly have gained back around 75lbs. I still have some depression issues, but nothing compared to how I was before. Magic- I gained 100lbs the first year I got married. I married at the age of 17 and moved 5 states away from my parents. I couldn't get far enough away from them, but guess where I am now? About 10 miles away from them So, unlike you, it wasn't from medication- but it is possible! -
Valoree, This doc was more concerned with your lack of weight loss? Get to another doctor! Did you even discuss the pain you're having? Is this the same doctor that banded you? I'd be seriously concerned that this doctor didn't pay much attention to your pain if I were you.

Welcome me to bandland!! trouble w/liquid intake
StephanieRaye replied to Lisa*in*NJ's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lisa, I would try some no sugar added apple juice, or another flavor of Isopure. What flavor do you have? Also, are you on clear liquids still? When you get to full liquids, try thinned refried beans or pureed bean and bacon soup for protein. It's hard to get in the recommended amounts of calories and protein, but this is the first I've heard of the no sugar rule so early in the healing phase. -
I've reached the regular food stage of healing (banded 11/17), but I have NO idea what to eat! I guess it could be the years of planned out meals and diet plans that's causing me to be so confused, but could someone please guide me in the right direction? Am I aiming for a weight watchers way of eating?

I was banded in MX 11/17. I was also self pay and have had some of the same worries. The best way I can come to terms with those worries is to figure that I'll cross that bridge if/when I get there. With all of the recent erosion discussion, I've decided to use this window of an opportunity with my band, and hope for the best. If I have any issue arise, such as erosion, I'll figure out a way to deal with it then. Just like a flat tire. You don't plan for those.
