Well once I decided that this was for me... and I knew that my insurance did not approve weight loss surgery, I researched doctors. After I found the doctor I liked, I applied for loans. Good luck!

You can see the info on Dr. Rose at www.memorial.org then click on services, then surgical weight management. I don't have the number with me. I cancelled my appointment with Dr. Rose because I was told on the phone that I may or may not receive my fill on my first visit because I am a new patient. The lady told me that he would give me a fill if they had time. That made me pretty mad because I'm not about to drive 2.5 hours and take an entire day off work for something I may/may not receive.

Anybody doing Atkins and Banded
StephanieRaye replied to kabeerah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
After years of being on the Atkins diet, I find myself having the low carb "train of thought" these days. I would say that I follow a modified low carb/low cal diet after getting banded. I refuse to diet ever again, but I know what's good for me and what's not. I eat a sandwich for lunch every day, but I use low fat mayo instead of regular and wheat berry bread instead of white. I think it's all about making better choices instead of following a certain way of eating that is certainly not typical long term. -
Anyone experience back pain with the band?

The Two Bowls of Cereal a Day Diet
StephanieRaye replied to MeganA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with La madam... If I have carbs in the morning, I'm craving them for the rest of the day. -

Tricia, How much do they charge? Is it under fluoro? -
Do you have a sushi kit Nana? DH and I bought one once, but we didn't have much luck. What do you put in yours? I'm really interested in the whole DIY sushi thing because there isn't a great restaraunt close to us.

I doubt it, personally. I've heard that she works out a whole lot.

What do you eat in a typical day??
StephanieRaye replied to dsrjrr's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I haven't had a fill yet and it's long overdue because I can eat anything and everything.... but here's what I've eaten today: B: Oatmeal squares cereal with 2% milk L: Turkey sandwich on white bread (bad, I know!) with provolone S: Chips and salsa D: I'm baking chicken breasts as we speak... with green beans. -
how much have you paid SINCE banding?
StephanieRaye replied to shellyj.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's crazy Michelle! I guess it's too late to ask for a refund...? -
Wow. This is just unreal. I cannot believe so many people have had such a similar experience with this doctor.

Low Carb (and therefore Low calorie) alternatives for faves
StephanieRaye replied to Jachut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
As far as the bread goes, years ago when I was a die-hard Atkinite:alien , I found lots of low carb bread choices in Walmart. I'm not sure if you have Walmart, or something similar...? There's also a lot of low sugar jams/jellies out there. -
Did Anyone Use Pedro Kuri In Tj, Mx?
StephanieRaye replied to FATBGONE's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Happy Kuri patient here. Anna, try doing a search on Dr. Kuri in the search bar, or he has a yahoo group for more info. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Dr_Kuri/ -
my DH actually prefers the boyshorts over thongs! I think it leaves more to the imagination or something....

I financed a portion of my surgery through e-financing solutions. I chose my doctor first, then worked on financing. After I was approved, I scheduled my surgery. I've only gone through 2 payments with them so far, but the whole process was smooth. They are great as far as customer service goes. You do have to overnight your paperwork to them though, and that kind of annoyed me because you're responsible for paying for that. That's the only complaint I have though! Good luck!

congrats! And cute toenail polish...

Do you have regular fill appointments?
StephanieRaye replied to luvmyband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think of fill appointments as an as needed thing. I say if you don't think you need a fill, call and tell your doc that. He may want to see you anyway to follow up. -
My boss has the worst mood swings known to man. One day he's my friend, the next day he's the meanest boss ever. He's known to say some downright mean and nasty things to people, including me. I'm the only clerical employee at the office. He comes in maybe 1-3 hours/day max, so his view of what goes on isn't always accurate. I've been employed with this company for 7 months now and have taken off 8.5 days. 3 for my lapband (which he knows about), 1 day for vacation, 4 days for being sick, and .5 days for a doctor appointment. I have only been approved to be paid for 2 of these days- a hassle to get them too. Regarding the 4 days that I was out for being sick- I came to work sick on Tuesday morning. He sent me home and told me not to come back until I was well (I had strep and the "crud"). I came back on Monday. Now- down to my issue... On Wednesday of this week, I was in his office with him and I saw an envelope with my name written on it (his handwriting). I said, "oh is that mine?" and started to pick it up. He said, "yeah, uh, it's yours, but it's not ready yet". I could tell that I had caught him off guard...so I quickly left his office. Well, today I still hadn't received this envelope from him. I went in his office (he wasn't there) and there was my envelope. The back of it had been taped and opened, taped and opened quite a few times. So...my curiosity got the best of me and I opened it. There was a letter from him telling me that he is disapointed in my commitment to the company and my lack of responsibility. Ofcourse I freaked out. I work through lunch everyday. I accomplish MORE than my job duties. I drive 40 minutes to work each way. I think I have a great attitude toward the people in my office, considering my work load. I have no idea where this is coming from and now I'm confused as hell about what to do. I'm really mad that he has this accusation, but since he hasn't given this envelope to me, I can't react. My boss only sees his side of the story anyway. It doesn't matter if God himself signed a petition, my boss wouldn't budge. If I ever try to explain anything to him, he cuts me off and tries to intimidate me. I just don't know what to do now. I know that I need to be "ready" if/when he does give this to me. I'm somewhat grateful that I've already read it so the initial shock is passed. I'm not really sure what I'm asking for here. I just needed to get this out and you guys are so supportive. My husband listens, but I think he gets sort of tired of hearing it. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Plastic Surgery Poll
StephanieRaye replied to sleepyjean's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I voted on the "something lifted" answer....but it will most likely just be my breasts, not a body lift. Great poll  -
I agree that my drive to work isn't a good example of my dedication, but when I feel unappreciated, it's easy to bring up what I feel are personal sacrifices. I'm sorry I said that, because it really isn't a valid point. I also agree that I shouldn't have read the letter. I knew that at that very moment, but I did and I can't take that back...whether it was cool or not. There is no HR rep. I am the office administrator for a RE/MAX office. My boss is the owner and broker. After typing all of this out and a long night of heavy thinking, I have decided to look for another job. I applied online for a position at a former employer. It's a hospital, so there are set guidelines for time off in the employee handbook, which sadly doesn't exist where I am now. Right now I am at the mercy of the attitude of my boss and the rules change daily. I have never been able to sit down and discuss issues with my boss and actually be heard before, and I doubt that I will be able to now. Thanks everyone for your responses and ideas. Hopefully soon I'll be in a better work environment!
