    Starting new journey

Welcome! I'm starting at 348, dropped to 342 on Day 5 of my pre-op diet, and have RNY on 11/16. Let's keep in touch since we're the same size and starting at the same time! Wishing you all the best, jissellam!

    November

You can do it, Marcee! Day 1 was bad, Day 2 was awful, but I feel like I really turned a corner on Day 3 and am adjusting to the protein shakes. Who knows how the rest of the week will go, but I keep telling myself I can do ANYTHING for a week. This process is really difficult, but it's an investment in yourself: in your self-discipline, in your health, and in the success of your surgery. It really sucks right now but we'll probably be thrilled we did it in the long run (at least I hope so haha.) I read that the liquid diet is most difficult until ketosis sets in and you lose the desire to eat normally. Carbs and sugar postpone ketosis and make the process more miserable, so cheating does you much more harm and causes more strife in the long run. That's what I tell myself when I drive by Dunkin every morning and that coffee calls out to me.

    Any November surgeries?

Surgery on the 16th! Nervous and excited. I'm on Day 3 of the protein shake diet and am definitely experiencing "food mourning". Trying to figure out how much of that is mental, and reminding myself that this is a tremendous opportunity and it's worth a week of suffering! Best wishes to all of you!!!
  5. Great question! I'm having surgery on 11/16 and I'm bringing: - A sleep eye mask and ear plugs in case it's bright/loud - An extension cord plus 10 ft super fast phone charger (tested to make sure the USB plug inside the charger doesn't come loose easily - there's nothing worse than snagging the cord and realizing your charger is no longer inside the plug!) - Mini can of Lysol since hospitals are filthy, plus hand sanitizer and antibacterial body wipes - Fleece socks with traction - Face wipes, moisturizer, and lip balm (you're so dry after surgery) - Notepad, pen, and thank you notes for anyone who's especially helpful - Little tray to keep everything organized and from falling off the table - Loose clothes (including a skirt since some people have trouble putting on pants) - Sperry shoes (comfy, flat, awesome traction) - Warm shawl/wrap (rooms are cold and you'll have wires/tubes to work around) I did a ton of research and list-making. Hope that helps!
