I have my surgery on Tues at the U of MN with Dr. Leslie. Nervous and excitec. I am in NW suburbs. I also have Medica and there was no follow-up psych required.
  2. When I got my approval through the insurance company, the paperwork said it would cover the procedure for one year. What did yours say? I would submit the bill directly to insurance.
  3. I did not either. I went in for a physical and she did a medical history going back several years of my attempted weight loss (weight watchers, nutra system etc...?) to account for two years.
  4. I am scheduled for Jan 12th. Can't come soon enough!!
  5. My surgeons office wanted me referred for a sleep study. Had my consult today and sleep doctor does not think I need it and wrote a note stating so. She has actually worked with my surgeon on the same patients. Timeline wise, I was excited. But now I am worried that the surgeon's office is going to want it and I don't want scheduling delays. I hope this doesn't come back to bite me!l
  6. Have you noticed providers giving you support along the way? I had my first visit at the biariatric office last week Thursdsy where I was told I met the criteria for the surgery and to start getting things done on the to do list. I am blown away with how great all the offices and providers have been to help speed up the process when I tell them I am doing the WLS. Psych was willing to meet me this Sat at 7:00 a.m. with a follow up in two weeks, again on a Saturday. I had my appointment this morning already with a new GP I haven't seen before (due to insurance), and she said she would have the report sent in a week. She even put a rush on the sleep study. At this rate I will have everything done in 3 weeks except the last NUT!
  7. I am supposed to be early Jan, but with my work schedule, may have to postpone it to mid February
  8. I am 43 and wish I had done this 20 years ago. It sounds like you are making a great decision!
  9. I have to see a new GP tomorrow that I haven't seen before (change in insurance.) I have the letter from the surgeon with what they require including the lab tests. Did any of you have to fast before labs? My appt is at 8:00 a.m. and I am tempted not to eat just in case.
  10. I did it!! I have took a sneak peek at these forums at the encouragement of a dear friend who did the sleeve last year. With what I saw here and my friends encouragement, I FINALLY called and made an appointment a few weeks ago. I had met with the doctors office today, had my first visit with the dietician, and if all goes well will have surgery in January.
