Oh, the lying!

Why don't people share? I guess everyone has their reasons. I think some are embarrassed that they could not defeat the battle on their own. I have also had that feeling myself. But I realized that is nothing to be embarrassed about! I am proud of myself for doing something about this as I have many medical conditions I didn't have 2 years ago as a result of my weight gain. I am going to have a healthy life. I am the type of person that is a pretty open book so for me I will tell anyone that stays still for 5 minutes, I am not a private person. Not that I share absolutely everything about my life to everyone. I still believe the main reason is embarrassment. It is within our human nature to try to not have the feeling of embarrassment which is why I think people keep certain information to themselves. Just my opinion :-) Why don't people share? You have to get another sonogram to see the fatty infiltration of the liver that is the only way to know if the fatty liver has improved since losing weight. Fatty liver is basically just that you have fat in your liver so when you lose a significant amount of weight you will also lose it in the liver. I think it is also dependent on how long you have had the fatty liver and if there has been any damage done to it. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Yes, I believe this is quite common with people that are overweight. It is no joke though. My liver enzymes has been elevated as a result of my fatty liver. This of course is not good for your liver as it can cause scarring over long-term. Losing weight is the best way to combat fatty liver. my sleeve gastroplasty procedure is scheduled for April 21 looking forward to getting rid of my high blood pressure fatty liver and horrible reflux and bringing down my A1 C! OMG! No raw pureed food in the puree stage post op ...
Crochet Queen replied to OzRoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also curious to know the answer to this question. I am not there yet but trying to prepare. I'm going in on April 21st. And I liked the idea of baby food during that stage also. -
ENDOSCOPIC GASTRIC SLEEVE.
Crochet Queen replied to 2Anne's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am scheduled for the Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty. Not POSE. I know of 3 different people (former co-workers) who have had this done. The results have been fantastic to say the least. 2 out of the 3 had a BMI of 36 & 38, the other 40. This is done as an out-patient procedure, healing time very quick. All were back to work in 3 days. I am certain Surgeons would not support this procedure as it is done by Gastroenterologists more specifically Advance Endoscopists. This does take patients away from the surgeons. In my opinion, I would rather have my stomach stitched than cut. If surgery was my only option I would probably do it. If this procedure fares well over time, and insurance companies start paying for it, it will be a far cheaper option for them and I think it will explode. With any procedure/surgery any of us do, we can all fail if we don't adapt to the lifetime choices we need to make. Nothing is 100% unless we work it. -
I have posted a few times months ago because I have been trying to have this procedure. I am confirmed and I'm having this procedure on April 21. Because this procedure is somewhat new insurance companies do not cover it I met with the nutritionist and from my understanding my postop is quite similar to the sleeve surgery however preop I need to do nothing to prepare ahead of time . I was just given instructions as if I was having an endoscopy . I hope to learn a lot on these boards! I really welcome any advice anyone can give me afterwards.

Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty

It is not the same as POSE. It is done endoscopicly but instead of cutting the stomach it is stitched to mimic the sleeve. -
SURGERY SET FOR 11/12 WOULD LOVE A BUDDY
Crochet Queen replied to S00N 2 Be Skinnyyyyy...'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi All, I am scheduled for November 13th. I don't know where I really fit in on these boards as I am not having the traditional sleeve surgery. I am having something very similar called Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty. It will be done at Mt. Sinai Beth Israel in Manhattan. there is no cutting of the stomach involved, just stitching to change the shape of my stomach into a sleeve. And it is not done laproscopically, it is done through an upper endoscopy. I believe the post op is similar the surgery you are all having but the pre-op is much different. It is not necessary to go on a liquid diet prior. I wish I could find others who will be doing what I am doing. I have a feeling this procedure will become quite popular once there is a CPT code for it this way Insurance companies can get on board with it. However with that said I know 2 people who have had this and with proper documentation they appealed the denials and got it covered anyway. Good luck to you all! -
Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty
Crochet Queen replied to H3LP's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am scheduled to have this procedure done at Beth Israel in New York City on November 13 and wondered how different is the post-op diet from the sleeve surgery with this one. I do know that there is no pre-op diet like there is with the surgery. I just want to be prepared. -
I already have a hobby which is crocheting and has provided a little side business so I can make some money on something I love doing! http://scarvesbylori.tumblr.com http://blanketsbylori.tumblr.com

Re: New Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty

I am getting this done in Manhattan. I know of two other people who had this done a year ago and the other 6 months ago. With appeals and physician documentation they are getting it covered by some insurance companies. This does not have a CT code yet which is why it isn't being covered for most people. No guarantee for me either. My doctor is trying to get this approved for me. I was going to do the sleeve surgery but was very apprehensive about having my stomach cut. My BMI is 36 but I was eligible for all surgeries as I have HBP as a result of my weight. From what I understand the post op is probably the same as when you have the sleeve surgery. I still have a lot of reading to do on this so I can understand it better. I am just wondering how you feel after and when do you feel back to normal afterwards. -
