Low BMI slow losing encouragement welcome!
24601 replied to itstimealready's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Low bmi lady here, and I am 8 weeks post op and have lost 37 lbs. My surgeon wants me at 900-1000 calories as of now, but I struggle to get to 700. I am working out about 3-4 days a week. I feel like I am in a dream in this new body! VSP is the best thing I have ever done for myself. -
Cellulite at Goal - Did It Go Away?
24601 replied to careya123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am still not at goal, but even when I was younger and at my goal weight, I had some cellulite. A lot of it is genetics. -
I just got mine done on Thanksgiving. I used Dr. Ramos Kelly and surgery plus 2 days of hotel expenses cost $4800. It is more for very high BMI patients ($500 more IIRC). I read all the gastric sleeve boards on the Internet before deciding on him. I read so many amazing things from people who got their sleeve done in TJ. I am so glad I didn't have complications. So glad. But having mine done in a clinic (which most do to keep costs down), well, the nurses spoke hardly any English, and if I had an emergency, I am not confident about what the outcome would have been. It is major surgery! Knowing now what I do, I would have saved my money and had it done in the States. Once I was actually in Mexico I realized what a gamble with my health I took. That's my two cents, since it seems like there aren't a lot of people who express these concerns. If I had a friend deciding to get the surgery done in Mexico, I would recommend at least doing it at Hospital Angeles (which Dr. Kelly does do surgeries there for about $7400).

24601 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am only 10 days post op, and I really want this to be successful. From those of you who have achieved your goal weight, what are your top tips to making the most of the sleeve and achieving success? -

Thank you, all! Great advice! And, livvsmum, I own that book, and I agree that it is amazing! -
Has anyone done this without any family, etc. at the hospital?
24601 replied to 280journey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine done in Mexico, so I went alone (husband stayed back to watch the kids). I was gone for 5 days. After I had the surgery (and the next day too) I was so sick with nausea it was hard for me to even talk on the phone. I just wanted to sleep. It was kind of nice being alone. -
does anyone have 60 pounds or less to lose?
24601 replied to conrad1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on Thanksgiving. Starting BMI was 29, and my goal is to lose 50 lbs. Since my post op diet, I have lost 17 lbs. It is pretty amazing! I know my weight loss will slow as I get closer to my goal, but I am loving it! Right after my surgery and the next couple of days afterward I was questioning why in the world I would do such a thing. But my recovery has been super quick, I just haven't regained my energy. My 9 year old daughter didn't see me for 4 days when I had the surgery done, and when I returned she kept saying that something looked different about me. After a couple of hours she said, "You look thinner!" -
Protein Drink witch one
24601 replied to sharoninidaho's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For vanilla, my favorite Protein powder is Met-rx vanilla Protein Powder (only click on the Amazon link). It mixes well, tastes great, and only 100 calories for 24 g/protein. http://www.amazon.com/Met-Rx-Protein-Plus-Vanilla-powder/dp/B00H4GO78E/ref=sr_1_6?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449450214&sr=1-6&keywords=metrx+protein+powder -
How long after surgery will I be bedridden, or able to drive
24601 replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, I had my surgery on a Thursday, and by Monday I was driving my kids to school and went grocery shopping. It took me lots of trips to my car as I couldn't carry much at a time, but I was not an invalid by any means. -
I had my VSG 8 days ago. I was very active before surgery, and attribute that, at least partly, to my quick recovery. I knew I would not get a lot of calories from the time I started my liquid diet (3 days pre-op) and for weeks post-op. But it is really hitting me how little my body is getting! I struggle to get more than 200-300 calories a day, even with Protein drinks. The past couple days I have been feeling really weak! My doctor said I shouldn't be getting more than 500 calories/day for the first 2 months. I have 3 young children, a part-time job, and love being active, but I don't know how to do it all with such low energy. I am taking my Vitamins, drinking about 50 oz of Water, and getting in about 45 grams of protein (That's all I can fit in my stomach at this point in recovery), and getting enough sleep. I just want to sit/lie down all day. How do you all do it?

Such low calories, such low energy
24601 replied to 24601's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you, all. I needed to hear this. I think I need to slow down. 3 days post op I walked a mile, part of it up a hill. The next day I was up early getting the family's breakfasts and lunches together, grocery shopping, doing dishes, etc. I basically returned from surgery on Sunday and picked up exactly where I left off on Monday. It is doing me in, and I need to keep in mind that even though my body isn't aching, it doesn't mean it has recovered. I went the route of hardly telling a soul about my surgery, and I am grateful for this forum and your supportive comments! -

Awesome job! -
I am new here and scheduled for my VSG on Thanksgiving! Nothing says let's celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving like leaving friends and family, leaving the USA, and getting your stomach mostly removed! I am going to Dr. Kelly in TJ. I had a hard time deciding to do this, but now that I am almost there, I just want to get it done! Against my better judgment, I told my mom yesterday (although I didn't mention it will be done in Mexico) and it was a mistake. She is convinced I will die or be miserable with complications for the rest of my life. She is upset it is not reversible. Why would I want my weight loss reversible? Anyway, I am staying strong despite her protests! Good luck to all!
