    Fat.. but not enough

Went to Mexico with 29 BMI and zero comorbidities. Best thing I ever did for myself.
  2. I used to be a runner. I hate running. Everytime, I would run for a few months, then burnout and stop exercising all together. It was definitely something an all or nothing scenario. Then I found taekwondo. I love it! I found Zumba. I love it! I found body combat (mixed martial arts class). I love it! I don't run anymore. It completely is about finding something that makes you tick, or at least not dread. Also, losing weight makes everything so.much.easier to do!
  3. I was pretty regular before surgery and didn't even experience a blip in my cycle after surgery.

    Non-scale victories

A guy on a motorcycle was checking me out as I was walking to my kids' bus stop. I feel like I am 16!
  5. Yep, I lost about 40 lbs in a little over 2 months, then I hit a stall, and I finally lost another 1.5 lbs. I can see that my weight loss is slooooooowing down. I have decided to stop weighing myself so often and concentrate on being healthy and happy where I am!

    Shopping

I went to Walmart today and bought 4 new t-shirts that were about $5 each, one pair of shorts (I live in So Cal where it is over 80 degrees today), and I bought a couple of new pairs of jeans about 10 lbs ago. So, not a ton, but enough to feel like I have a few articles of clothing that fit!

    Sriracha sauce!

Me too! I eat it mixed with my refried Beans, along with anything else that will remotely go with the sauce. My husband jokes that I should just add it to my yogurt for crying out loud. Back when I used to eat sour cream, I would add it to that and eat it like dip with chips. Yum.

    Favorite Greek Yogurt

I am all about the Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurts! 80 calories, 12 grams of Protein and 9 carbs. I love the coconut vanilla and strawberry cheesecake.

    Surgery on a "smaller" patient

I am 5'9" and starting weight was 190. 2 months post op I lost 40 lbs. My goal is to lose 50 lbs total. I have only lost 1 lb in the last 3 weeks. This has been my first stall so far, and it bums me out. I am guessing as I am getting closer to my goal weight things are really starting to slow down.

    Mexico or US...cant decide

i had my surgery in Mexico. I had no major problems except that I was very sick from the anesthesia for two days. Having been there, done that, I would very strongly recommend a US hospital if it is an option. If there is an emergency, that is where you want to be. If you do decide to go to Mexico, I would at least suggest going to a real hospital, like Angeles Hospital, not a clinic (like I did).
  11. Straight milk. I can have any dairy products, but if I try and have a cup of milk I get dumping syndrome.

    Sigh.. The stall kills

Are you using My Fitness Pal or something similar to track? Any chance you are eating too many carbs? I had my surgery 11/26/15 and have a hard time eating over 700 calories. Today I have eaten 635 calories and have had 89g Protein. So if you have a 1200 calorie day and only 80g protein, you are maybe getting too many carbs and fat? Just a thought. I humbly admit I am no expert.
  13. I am 10 lbs away from goal, but I am probably what people would now call thin. I am 5ft 9in and 150 lbs. Here are some experiences lately that I have found interesting: - At night when I sleep on my side, my knees knob together when I try to have one on top of the other. It never used to be a problem with there was a thick layer of padding in between my knees. - When I sit, my legs cross so much easier! - People are nicer to me. Now, I have many feelings about this that I won't go into, but it is a fact. People just notice me more and are kinder. For example, all of a sudden these moms that I see all the time (but am not necessarily friends with) want our kids to have playdates. People say hi to me on the street more. Just little things like that. - It's weird to shave and feel like it went so fast, and where is the rest of my leg? - My bath towel wraps around me so much better. - I don't mind being photographed. - I am constantly shocked when I see myself in a full length mirror. - I was very physically active before I had the surgery, and it was one thing that worried me. I was so sure that I would lose my hard earned muscle and stamina due to the low calories. Well, turns out losing 40 lbs more than made up for my muscle loss. I have since returned back to normal workouts and find that I can go longer and not get as winded now. - Trying on clothes is fun and not a chore. - I don't snore anymore. At all. - My 7 year old son can wrap his arms all the way around me when we hug now. - I am looking forward to summer for the first time in years! In all of this, I feel like I am still me, the person I was before, but I have a renewed outlook on life now. I feel like anything is possible!
  14. Just curious. I am a little over 2 months post op and am really active. I am supposed to be eating 900-1000 calories by now according to my surgeon. I can sometimes get to 800 calories if I really work at it, but it is usually closer to 700. I do taekwondo twice a week and each class I burn about 600 calories. Twice a week I do other workouts that each burn approximately 300 calories. Now I am getting these headaches. I drink lots of Water and take my Vitamins, do the high Protein thing, blah, blah, blah. Maybe I am just too low on calories with the workouts? What do you do? Do you eat back the calories you burn?
  15. My Protein target is 60-75g a day. Since I am only a couple months post op, I think this is pretty reasonable at ~700 calories, no?
  16. Oh girl. I was a mess. I totally regretted the surgery, craved nachos, and just had a general feeling of "what did I just do to myself?" It is normal, and it will pass! I am 2 months post op and have not felt this happy in a long time. You are in a kind of shock right now, and just flow with it and know it will pass. You will eat normal food again. You will feel good again, actually, you will feel great! You have so much more freedom in your future. Patience is key in the beginning.
  17. So glad you had a good experience there! I had mine done there, and while nothing went particularly wrong, I would never recommend it to anyone.

    What have I done?

I experienced serious remorse my first week post op. I wanted to eat real food, and I craved nachos! Just remember that the beginning is HARD. It absolutely will get better. Your new stomach will become your new way of life, and when you see the pounds coming off and you are feeling great, this early recovery time will all be a distant memory.
  19. I am 2 months post op and only told my husband, parents, and three of my best friends. Now that I am down almost 40 lbs, I am starting to get a lot of comments and questions from people, like, how am I doing it? I tell them I changed my diet. I leave it at that. I don't need people judging me on my surgery when they know none of my struggles of what led me to it.

    Tolerating Shakes

Have you tried making Protein mug cake? I find that the protein powder is much more palatable that way. There are lots of different recipes online. Personally, I just use a scoop of chocolate protein powder, some Stevia, 1/4 tsp baking soda, and sometimes a bit of PB2. Mix, add some almond milk (or real milk or water), mix again. Microwave for about 35-45 seconds. The key is that it is still a little runny. If it is dry you will probably hate it.
  21. It's so wonderful to read about everyone's progress! I now have 12 lbs to my goal of 140 lbs, but if I lost a few more that would be fine. I don't want to get much smaller than 135 lbs as I am 5'9". Being only 9 weeks post op, I am starting to wonder when my weight loss will majorly slow down. I haven't had a stall yet. I had a week where I only lost 1 lb, but I was still losing. For those low BMI people who have hit their goal, how long did it take and did you do anything to stop the loss and maintain when you hit your goal?
  22. Sleeved on Thanksgiving! I am pretty much eating all types of foods now, but always my protein first! Loving my sleeve!
  23. I didn't have a revision, but I had the sleeve done with a bmi of 29. Best thing I have ever done for myself! I am 13 lbs from my goal weight.
  24. I am 2 months post op and tried one last night for the first time with some sliced cheese stick on top. It didn't bother me a bit, but nothing seems to except drinking milk. I have really missed eating salads!
  25. I am 5'9" and am down to 153. My goal is 140. That's what I was when I got married (actually I was 142), and I loved that weight. Hope to get back to it! Honestly, though, if I didn't shed one more pound, I am pretty ecstatic at where I am at right now!
