Hello everyone!! I got my approval letter from ins. today!! My dates of approval are Dec. 14 & 15 so I'm hoping Dr. Spann & the hospital will be able to accommodate one of those dates?? I've put on a couple of pounds so I've got to get them off quick (not that it will effect anything per my ins. I just would like to get it back)

Weight gain after approval from insurance
destiny_77 replied to destiny_77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When is your surgery? I don't have a set date yet but my approval dates for surgery is Dec. 14 & 15 so I'm guessing that's when the hospital will have to schedule me... Will make a call to them Monday. -

Ok, I just got off the phone with my insurance and they said weight gain would not effect me since I'm already approved but I'm still going to try to get the extra weight off before the surgery so liquid diet, here I come Thank you for your response and guidance!! -
PTL! I heard today!! My case has passed the medical review and is being submitted to insurance today. One step closer now lets hope insurance don't drag their heels!!
-
Exactly! I feel like I'm getting on their nerves and I hate to be a nuisance! Hopefully soon they will be pushing it on through then. Thank you!!
-
Anyone remember how long your chart stayed in "medical review"? Mine has been there for over a week now. Is that normal? The deadline to get this surgery before 2015 ends is looking pretty slim :'(

Any of you that are post op gain weight from the time your last supervised visit was to insurance approval? I've gained 6 pounds! I think it's stress eating but if you did, what was the consequence, if any?

There is only one reason for me to have the RNY instead of the sleeve!! Wondering, has anyone with the sleeve been able to kick this habit?

@@Nikke25, have you heard anything yet? It has been super quiet here and I'm on pins & needles just waiting and wanting to hear something!

I felt the same way. All this time. I swear my anxiety was at an all time high waiting for the insurance to approve me. I called every other day. But I got the call and it made everything I had been doing worth it. Wish you nothing but the best!! Thank you! I appreciate you "talking me off the ledge"! I'm just ready to be on the other side!!

In that case, I should be okay, I guess it's just the fear of the unknown setting in. I've come this far and the waiting is killing me.

I have a fear that I will have gone through this whole 6 month process only to get denied!! What if I get denied? I have pretty much stopped living life and have just been WAITING to live after surgery. Is this making sense? I know I shouldn't put all of my eggs in one basket and look at the possibility of getting denied and if I do, I don't have a plan B. I don't know, I think all this waiting is driving me batty!!

@@Nikke25, I'm in the same boat as you so positive vibes all around Best wishes...

Had my last supervised weight loss visit with my PCP earlier today. She said she would have all the paperwork faxed over to Vandy by end of day Monday then I will be playing the waiting game for approval! I hope is a pretty quick process because I really need to get this surgery before this year ends! Prayers appreciated... thanks!!

How long did it take you after you were approved with insurance to get a date for surgery with him?I was approved on a Thursday spoke to the schedule lady the following Monday and was set for pre op within two weeks. Then from the pre op appointment to surgery was two weeks. That is encouraging to hear!! I have my last supervised weight loss visit with my PCP, Thurs. the 29th and everything else has been done so I was hoping for a Nov./Dec. date! I've already met my deductible and everything so I would hate to have to pay all that out again!! What Ins. are you with? I'm with Cigna...

I am with Dr. Spann @ Vandy as well. I've only met him once for my initial consult but just from our conversation, I feel like I am in good hands!

Hello everyone! I have Cigna and am required to do the 6 month weight loss supervised plan. Oct. 29, is my last appointment before everything gets submitted to ins. My BMI is 38.3 and I have osteoarthritis, sleep apnea (newly diagnosed) and borderline HTN. My question is will I get denied for weight gain? Will my PCP write my letter of medical necessity? I don't know what to do to lose weight???!! I am keeping a journal and have not went over my calorie intake that my pcp put me on but I'm still gaining instead of losing. I'm wondering if eating too much protein can cause you to gain weight because I have upped my protein intake substantially. Anyone got any advice for me? Anyone with Cigna gain weight during the 6 month waiting period and still get approved? Please help!!
