Dr. Kuldeep Singh - Lovin' This Practice!!!
caramia71 replied to enjoylife's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Enjoylife congrats on your huge success! What an inspiration you are! I agree that Dr. Singh is worth the drive, thankfully mine is only 45 minutes one way. I have never met a doctor who gave you their cell number and actually answered it! He's the best and I'm glad he's worked with me to get to the bottom of it. I know I'll be back on my way in no time!! Thanks for your response and good luck with the rest of your journey!! Carol -
completely unfilled, still PB'ing..stress?
caramia71 replied to nursejess's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
We did every test from May to December - barium swallow, upper GI, endoscopy....nothing picked up on it. He couldn't figure out what was wrong. He thought it was a slight hernia so he scheduled a surgery to correct it. He found the slippage when he opened me up and said that he couldn't diagnose it when the band was deflated. Scary. I too was on steroids for esophagitis and reflux medicine, but the pb'ing and throwing up continued. It was the craziest thing. I hope you figure out what is wrong soon and you get back to feeling better! -

This happened to me and I would not wait at all. My band had slipped and scar tissue formed another band around my stomach. It could be something as simple as a hernia, but continuing to do this is not healthy for your body. Definitely tell your doctor and have him run some tests. You'll be happy you did, if for just peace of mind. Carol -
Mine does this too. Especially when I'm in a quiet room with people, it's quite embarassing.

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor 2010 Goal Challenge: Let's do this!!
caramia71 replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Irene- I have that same issue - too tight/not tight enough! It's a never ending battle. I am hoping that with this revision things will be smooth sailing and I can lose that last 50. I hate feeling like a failure. I know I"m not, but it's hard not to compare yourself to those who have lost 90+ in 1 year! I'm getting ready to begin my 3rd year!! I'm so happy that you are doing well and it makes it that much sweeter when it's almost effortless!! Best of luck and drop me a line if you'd like to stay in touch! Carol -
Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor 2010 Goal Challenge: Let's do this!!

Hi Diva- I too have been struggling with my band and recently had mine fixed due to a slippage. I always love reading your posts and am wondering how you are doing. I'm vowing that 2010 will be my year to hit goal as well. I'm all for Any support we can give each other! -
I have a friend who lost 90+ pounds with only one fill. I think it can be done. I can't tolerate large amounts in my band at all - I think it's all based on your invididual body. I am short (so was she) and I think we are just more compressed internally. LOL My surgeon jokes with me about that all of the time. I wouldn't rule anything out. Carol

Hang in there! I'm a stomach sleeper and when I was first banded I thought I was going to lose it! I slept on the couch for 2 weeks and only got 4 hours a sleep at a time. It was awful on top of the food withdrawal my mind was experiencing. It's a whole host of emotions you go through when you have this surgery, at least for me. I can tell you by the second week I was feeling better and by the 3rd I was sleeping better. Once the swelling goes down and the pain subsides you'll start to sleep normally. I think what you are experiencing is normal. If you can talk to your Mom or a friend (or counselor) to get you through the tough times, you'll be much better - or find a lapband buddy!! :crying: You can do this! Look how far you've come!

Huge congrats!! Keeping my fingers crossed you can move it up. Good luck on your journey!
-
Congratulations! It's an awesome feeling!! Best of luck on the rest of your journey!

I don't think any complication is good, but you said that it's rare with the realize band and it made me feel better that this may not happen again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Carol

Thank you! That makes me feel better! My slip as described by the doctor sounded bad - so I don't want to go through that again. I was upset about everything at first, but then I decided to be optimistic and glad I have a second chance to get this right!!
-
I'm glad it is all working out for you! I've been dealing with this for almost a year because they couldn't find out what was wrong. I'm hoping this will put me back on track. I'm worried I'll slip again. I think the no eating thing is just a precaution - I've gone under and ate right up to the time with no problems. Best of luck to you and thanks for sharing! Carol
-
ScottyD my band slipped as well. My surgeon thout it was a hiatal hernia, but when he went in to repair that, nope my band slipped....can I ask how you've been doing since? Mine was repaired this weekend and I"m scared it's going to happen again. Any input you can give would be appreciated! Thanks, Carol

Puddin- I'd rather be safe then sorry...it wouldn't hurt at all to get an endoscopy done. It's an outpatient procedure and only took 2 hours from start to finish and that was waiting on the doctor because he was late. I only had to wait a few days for the biopsy but he was able to let me know my band was ok and if I had reflux. I think from all of my pbing, it aggravated my hernia again. It took me almost a year to get to this point and I think that's why my reflux was so bad and my weight loss stalled. I'd go for it if you are able. Carol

Puddin - I've been having that problem off and on for over a year. A recent endoscopy determined I had Eosinophilic Esophagitis. My surgeon treated it with Prevacid and a steroid but I still threw up and had reflux. He determined that my hiatal hernia needed repaired (again). My surgery is scheduled in 2 weeks and finally it is calming down a bit. I can eat and not suffer from reflux, but I'm completely unfilled. He seems to think that I can go back to being filled after the surgery. I"m hoping that is true because I have been at a stand still for almost a year. It's frustrating. I hope your doctor figures it out soon - just don't give up! :-) Carol

Dr. Kuldeep Singh - Lovin' This Practice!!!
caramia71 replied to enjoylife's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Congrats Bjackson! What I love about Dr. Singh is he actually wants to communicate with you and will let you e-mail him directly or call his cell phone! I have never in my 38 years had a doctor who gave you his cell number! And, I had a problem a few months back at 3 A.M. and guess who answered the phone....Dr. Singh himself! It's amazing! -
BIG dilemma - HELP!!
caramia71 replied to SippNSotaGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is my understanding that legally they are not allowed to ask what type of surgery/medical condition you have. When I had my surgery I did not give details and they didn't ask. Best of luck! Carol -
Hello all, I was recently diagnosed with eosinophillic esophagitis and I am wondering if anyone else has issues with this and is still successful with the band? Thanks! Carol

Does anyone else throw up at every meal?
caramia71 replied to urs9999's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This has happened to me twice now! The first time I allowed it to go on for months and my weight loss installed. I was so swollen from not allowing my stomach to heal, that I had to get a lot unfilled. I couldn't stand the reflux that came with that. I'd be fine for a day or two, but then right back to throwing up. After I was unfilled the problem went away. I just recently got another fill and it was too much and the problem began again...fine for a few days, then throwing up constantly at every meal and even liquids were hard to get down. He took .5 cc out of my band today and instantly I felt better. I suggest not letting it go on for too long because it can cause a whole host of issues, including band slippage. Good Luck!! -

caramia71 replied to Timah85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Timah so glad you are feeling better! Isn't it crazy how quickly we can feel relief? This band is so fickle! I hope you'll be back on your way in no time!! I have never heard of more being in the band then was put it in. I've heard of less, but not more. Sounds very bizarre. -

Timah - I hope you are feeling better! That happened to me a few months ago and it was no fun at all! Restless - Thanks for the tip on the papaya enzyme, it worked miracles! I had a fill last week and wound up too tight/stuck/or something a few days after. I took a few of them and amazingly I am feeling well today and so far everything is going down and staying down!! -
Dr. Kuldeep Singh - Lovin' This Practice!!!
caramia71 replied to enjoylife's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi! Loved your post, quite inspiring! I was banded the day after you by Dr. Singh. I think he is fantastic! Congrats on your 100 pound loss! I've been stuck for the past 6 months, I was too tight and it caused a lot of problems and had to get practically unfilled. I go Thursday for another fill - first time in months!! Thanks for the inspiration and congrats again!
