I know it's said that if you crave chocolate you could be low on Magnesium (just went through this last week...it's all I wanted and I subbed with sugar free hot cocoa). This week it's gummy bears! I broke down and had some sugar free ones and you would have thought I was eating 24K gold, they were so good. I am wondering if it's the gelatin I am craving, maybe due to my recent hair loss?

Breast implants- considering them
otillie03103 replied to naturegirl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I haven't had them yet, but too am getting extremely saggy. Down to a 36D from a 44DD and I still have 36 lbs to lose. While I like how I look in clothes better, I definitely have considered plastics. -
You all look great! I am still about 36 lbs from goal.

Before I remember being in a room with my husband waiting to go to surgery, and they said they were going to give me something to relax. I then briefly remember being wheeled down the hall and seeing a big light in the OR, but that's all fuzzy...so I could have been dreaming. I woke up and remember feeling pain, moaning and then falling back asleep.

Do You Log Your Food?
otillie03103 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I log on My Fitness Pal every day. I can never complete an entry because I never eat enough compared to what they think I should, but it still allows me to track everything. I find it extremely helpful. -

Hiccups: they won't stop!
otillie03103 replied to deana_m20's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have heard from many people that when they get full they get the hiccups. If you are one day post op you are probably still very swollen inside so are probably filling up really quickly and the hiccups may be your signal that you are full. -
I get comments that I am getting too thin even though my BMI is still over 30. When I tell them I am still trying to lose I get, "You better not lose too much more," or "I hope you're not planning on losing any more weight!" Drives me nuts. The comments about your relationship with your husband are in poor taste. I agree. I have had people say they don't recognize me and while I think they do recognize me, I think it's their way of saying I look considerably different.

many vegan protein substitutes have tons of protein (no eggs or dairy)

My weight loss has slowed considerably...I have heard the last 20-30 lbs can be the hardest.

Travel a few months following surgery
otillie03103 replied to CanadaLoser's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just took a trip to Nashville, TN at 3 months post op with my husband (I live in NH). I flew and stayed in a hotel and walked all over and did just fine. I did research ahead and tried to make healthy choices eating out. -
My hair dried out too and started thinning about a week ago (much more hair coming out in the shower and when brushing). I switched to a very hydrating conditioner because I couldn't get a brush through it. My NUT said some believe biotin really helps, but she doesn't believe it does. Who knows. I think if you are getting in your vitamins and protein and fluids and are still losing hair, it should slow once the weight loss slows and you are no longer in a state of malnutrition. It's just your bodies way of utilizing it's means to keep vital organs healthy and hair is not a priority when it comes to living.

I toast low carb/high protein wraps and use them as a pizza crust with low cal sauce, low fat cheese and veggies

how did things go? did you speak with your surgeon?
-
Do you take any stool softeners or laxatives per your surgeon's recommendation? I would discuss bowel management with your surgeon and get on a regimen to prevent this from occurring.
-
sometimes people can get strictures that can prevent food from passing appropriately and need to have this addressed with their surgeon. Also, are you passing gas? It is possible that you could have a bowel obstruction which could be causing the vomiting as well, if nothing can get through than it comes back up. Not definitely sure, but I would definitely call our surgeon.

Excess Skin: And the Emotional, Thick Skinned Woman
otillie03103 replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I'm already thinking about having my excess skin removed. I am 39 lbs from goal and the wrinkly skin on my stomach, arms and inner thighs, to me, is a constant reminder of how I treated myself before and I am not sure I will ever be happy with how I look unless I get it removed. I know I am healthier, but I also know that I worked hard and deserve to have my body look the way I want it to. -
I do biggest loser and Jillian Michaels videos. I also like Bob Harper
-
I do low fat string cheese, bariatric crunchy snacks from bariatric pal and Quest protein chips.

What’s Your Attitude Towards Carbs?
otillie03103 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I eat carbs, but very minimal. When I do I make sure they are from low sugar fruits like berries, or low carb whole grain toast. I find the longer I go without them the less I crave them. I crave protein now a lot. I heard that carbs are extremely important for brain function. -
Staying on track when you're under the weather
otillie03103 replied to lauraellen80's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I recently had my first cold almost three months post op and I continued to eat my high protein meals, pushed fluids and exercised, but for 1/2 hour instead of 45-60 min at a time and I went to bed early for a few nights until I felt better. I did take a rest day on the exercise, but otherwise when I was exercising I felt my sinuses cleared and I felt better and more alert. -
