I'm so excited that my surgery is approved for December 15th!!! I was really starting to get nervous because it had been taking the insurance company longer than expected. I start a new job next week, then 3 weeks to finish up the final appointments, then off to Vegas for 9 days and then a weekend a cleansing and then surgery. I can't wait to begin my new life!

Good luck, keep us posted!

How did surgery go for you? -
I'm not sure if it's my insurance or if it's the U of M Bariatric dept, but from my 1st appointment to my upcoming surgery, it's taken 3-1/2 months. It could have been 3 months, but I had a vacation planned. So after your first appointment, be diligent with your task list, follow-up if things arent happening as you expected and in no time, you'll scheduled for surgery! Good luck!

I'm so excited, I was approved by insurance today. I will also be getting my sleeve by Dr. Leslie @ the U of M on Dec 15th. Lexuskela, do you go to the support group meeting the 1st Wed of the month or do you have another group that you meet with? Are you at your goal? If so, how is maintenance?Hi!! Yay! Dr Leslie!!!! He ROCKS!!!!! I live up in Otsego by the Albertville mall so no I never went to a support group. I wish I could have. Just been on here for support which has been awesome. ???????? I was sleeved in July on the 21st. Since surgery I am down 48 lbs.... Since my first appt in May & my pre op diet my total overall weight loss is 73 lbs. Total... Not in maintenance yet... I want to get to 120... I am 204 now. Where do you live?I live in North Branch between Forest Lake & Hinkley off 35. Do you know anyone in MN that has had VSG? I've joined a couple of Facebook groups & they share a lot of info, support & motivation.

Yes, just two days. I am happy about that but don't understand why there is such a difference between hospitals (or physicians).

I should also find out this week if I'm approved or not. I have Preferred One and BMI of 36. I've done everything........it's just a waiting game now. Again, if anyone has any information on the Peer-to-Peer process/success rate, please share.

Linda, can you please let me know when/where you meet? I'd be interested in meeting your group. Thank you.

I have a tentative date scheduled for Dec. 15th for a sleeve and within 1-2 weeks I will know if insurance will cover my surgery. I am staying positive and preparing as if this will be approved. I envision a wonderful summer of 2016 and moving freely with little effort. I compete in cowboy mounted shooting and haven't ever wore a holster because of the size of my waist so I use a pommel holster instead (which holds my pistols on the side of my horse). I would love to get a beautiful holster, wear it with pride and really step-up my competition because I love this sport. I also have a 9 month old granddaughter that will be running around next summer and it will be fun keeping up with her. So much to look forward to! I just pray insurance cover the surgery.

tdc, keep me posted on your approval. My doctors office didn't submit my paperwork when they told me, so I'm still probably another week out before I know if I'm approved. -

I also am new to this forum and waiting to find out if insurance will cover my surgery. My BMI was 36 at my first appointment and am in that "grey area" of coverage. My tentative surgery is scheduled for 12/15/15. I know many of you have self paid but that is not an option for me, as my husband was recently medically retired and looking for another job. I am curious how everyone is doing, as well. It looks like most lose an average of 10 pounds a month, or is it less when you have a lower BMI? For those of you who didn't share your surgery to non-family members, how did you explain your time away from work and your weight loss to co-workers and friends? Are you glad you kept it private?
