What part of SA are you from? Im in the NE corner. Also, good luck on your surgery on Friday. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Let me know how it goes. -
True, but two things are at play: A post or letter or almost any communication implies a request for response, even if mere acknowledgement. If the post omits details or doesn't name the type of response that's hoped for, the people who respond go ahead as they see appropriate. All we can do is our best with what we're given, maybe read between the lines a little, and then write from our own views of life. You are absolutely right on this one.... There is always more to the story. The decision to have wls may just be the straw that broke the camels back in this marriage filled with many other unmentioned situations. In my situation, my husband was not receptive to the idea and it took me almost a year of continued dialog about the benefits of this surgery on my health before he was in agreement. It turned out that he was scared that i would die on the op table because of horror stories from when gastric bypass first came on the scene. To overcome his fears, he attended my meeting with the surgeon and my nutrition classes. His discussion with the surgeon put his mind at rest. There are a lot of things that can be tried before coming to a decision about divorce over wls if that's the only problem.

Turkey and white bean chili (I made mine with lean ground turkey)( i also blended another half can of cannelini Beans and added it to the chili to thickened it; this is a very flexible chili) (From south beach diet) This yummy chili can be made many different ways, if you want to experiment. Try using chicken instead of turkey or navy, black, or pinto beans in place of the white ones. Top it with a tablespoon or two of shredded low-fat cheddar or jack cheese,...More Ingredients 1 tablespoon oil, olive, extra-virgin 1 medium onion(s) roughly chopped 2 clove(s) garlic minced 1 pounds turkey, cutlets cut into 1/2 inch pieces 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 teaspoon cumin, ground 15 ounce(s) beans, cannellini (1 can), drained and rinsed 14 1/2 ounce(s) tomatoes, diced, Mexican (1 can) 1 cup(s) broth, chicken, fat-free, less sodium salt to taste peppercorns, black freshly ground, to taste Instructions 1 Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more. 2 Add turkey, chili powder, and cumin; cook, stirring often, until turkey is no longer pink inside, about 5 minutes. 3 Add beans, tomatoes with juice, and broth; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until flavors blend, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve.

A friends WLS post op diet plan is causing a great bit of a WHOA! for me!
MimiBMe replied to Stevehud's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree that surgeon's plans run the gammit. I was allowed to eat runny oatmeal and greek yogurt while in the hospital ( 2nd day post op) as well as swallow pain pills and other medications including the pill form of a multivitamin. I started on soft foods ( eggs, tuna, fish) 6 days post op. I have never been nauseated or had pain with eating. One plan does not fit all! I am 3 wks post op and down 19 lbs but am currently at a stall. -

Did anybody get surgery only letting minimal people know?
MimiBMe replied to lovelylala's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only people who know are my husband and my three children (2 teenagers and one adult). I am losing weight at a slow enogh pace so that friends and acquantainces are not suspicious. I work from home so none of my co- workers have ever met me--- so no problems there. The most challenging people to evade will be my snooping, snivelling in- laws! Since i will be hosting Thanksgiving this year, it will be hard to hide my eating habits. I have already cleared my pantry of protein shakes and powder, -
I was allowed oatmeal while in the hospital 2 days post op; it was on my tray although i did not eat it. It does need to be a liquidy cosistency. Soft stage will allow a thicker consistency.

What is weigh-loss goal reality, sleeve & bypass?
MimiBMe replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
my surgeon said to expect to lose 50-60% of excess body weight. There is no specific amount of weight loss per week/ month because weight loss is dependent on too many factor including diet choices, exercise habits, comorbid conditions, etc -
