    over sixty seven

I am over 67 years of age. I was wondering if a lot of people my age hae had the surgery, and if they wondered about their age before having it. I have been obese all my life nearly, being born weighing one ounce under 12 pounds. Ihavedoneallthe programs out there almost, getting my lowest weightever down to 179 pounds. I weigh neasrly 250, and I would like to get rid of this weight. I haven't had heart or diabetis trouble and I am thankful for that. I don't want them and that is only one of my reasons for surgery. I would just like to hear from someone my age. I am scheduled for the surgery on the 16th. of this month. Thanks Rose

Hi Sharon, I haven't been on lately. I didn't mean not to get back with you. I hope you are doing good. I gave up on the cpap machine. I never could go to sleep. I have lost 26 pounds. I am scheduled to get my third fill next Tuesday. I still hve no restriction what so ever. I could eat like a horse. I hope things change soon. Rose

Hi Lee, I haven't been on the forum here for quite awhile. How did your surgery go and how are you doing now? I have lost 26 pounds so far. I have had two fills, and go in for my third one next Tuesday. I still have no sensation of even having the band. I feel no different at all and can eat without any restriction at all. I sure hope this next fill does something. Let us know how you are doing. Rose
  4. I would like to know where it is possible to get our fills for the band in Northern Michigan. Thank You, Rosalie

Hi Thor, I had my surgery on the 16th of this month. I also was antisipating the worst. Well, it couldn't have went better. The gas aftewards wasn't nothing like I thought, I never needed even a pain pill. Two days later, I drove home from the hospital a couple hundred miles. I don't think you have anything to worry about. My son also had it the same day I did. He happened to have a hernia operation at the same time, so he had a little pain from that. They kept him one day longer than me, so I waited at the International building for him to be released. He also is doing fine. If it wasn't for the hernia, he had no pain from the lap band surgery either. Best of luck to you. Rose

    Hair loss with the band?

I read something about the possibility of hair loss with the band. I think it said if you have your protein you will be fine. Has anyone here experienced hair loss due to the band or do you have any info on this subject, thanks in advance. Rose

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Like you, I have pains in my knees. I went to the doctors and he said I have arthritis. Also again like you, I have a Cpap machine, but I have yet to fall asleep with it on. I am having a terrible time. It nerves me all up. I was told yesterday that I have to be using it for them to do the surgery. I see the sleep apnea doctor today. I also sondered how long they keep the compression stockings on us after the surgery, if anyone will let me know, I appreciate it. I guess I am full of questions. Thank goodness I am doing ok with my two weeks on the shakes. Rose
