Constipation Help?
Butterball B Cat replied to BonnieJo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I switched to the Bariatric Advantage multi Vitamins with Iron, I was in agony from constipation, so I called my surgeon's office and talked to the nurse. She asked me if I drank caffeinated coffee in the morning pre-surgery. Yes....so she suggested having a 4 oz cup w/ miralax mixed in-apparently caffeinated coffee will "stimulate" the bowels. Also, she suggested a serving of the ORIGINAL Kashi Go Lean(she stressed the original part) several times a week. So twice a week I do the coffee thing, and the Cereal I eat 4 times a week. I haven't had any problems since. -
Butterball B Cat started following Half Way to Surgeon's Goal!, Constipation Help?, Super Nose?! and and 7 others

Oh yeah, I remember super nose. I was in the hospital for 2 nights, and fortunately had the most awesome nurse ever. She would tell me when she was gonna sneak in a lunch break, then I could smell the food being nuked-almost like it was right in my room, LOL! Then on the ride home, I got into our car, and the smell! Stinky car, I asked my husband if it always smelled that bad! Super nose only lasted 3 or 4 weeks for me. My taste buds are slowly coming back to normal. I am going on 16 weeks post-op.

Losing weight on 6 month program
Butterball B Cat replied to rnyjessica's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@rnyjessica, I started my (7 month) program at 351 lbs, and gained an additional 10 lbs about 3 months in because of several food funerals....but I got my rear in gear and ended up losing 50 lbs making my pre-surgery weight 310. My surgeon submitted my paperwork with my initial weight of 351. Insurance approved it in 3 days. -

OK Ladies, kinda embarrasing question for you all

This shaving thing sounds strange. I just pulled out my pre-op checklist(yes I saved it, LOL) and it says absolutely no shaving from the neck down 1 week before surgery to prevent any infections-I am guessing if you cut yourself? I too woke up with a cath and unshaven. -

Do You Log Your Food?
Butterball B Cat replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Absolutely. Anything I eat or drink gets weighed/measured and logged. I have been doing this since I got my Fitbit 2 years ago. It's become part of my routine. I like the "add note" feature on the Fitbit food tracker, this was very helpful the first 6 weeks post-op because I could make notes of what foods worked and didn't, and now I can go back and see how far I've come along. -

360+ pounds?!? help!
Butterball B Cat replied to allyrenee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi there Allyrenee11! My highest weight was 359 lbs in April of 2015, by the time I had surgery in November, I was 310 lbs exactly. My intention was to have the sleeve. After many, many, many discussions with my surgeon and dietician, I felt I needed to go with the bypass. This was due to the fact that I come from a long line of diabetics, and my PCP was ready to start me on insulin if I didn't do something. I also didn't want to deal with the possibility of developing GERD. So please, listen to what your Bariatric team has to say. Good luck! -
It could also be because regular cocoa powder is acidic. Dutch-process cocoa powder is slightly less acidic.

Half Way to Surgeon's Goal!
Butterball B Cat replied to TMG1980TMG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! You are so lucky to have Dr. Weiner as your surgeon, I am so jealous, LOL! His Youtube channel and book has really helped me a lot. -
I am a stress sweater. On the morning of my surgery and up to the end of week 1, I smelled like armpit SO BAD. I was shaving, scrubbing w/ apricot scrub, antibacterial soap, applying the expensive deodorant twice per day, I even went so far as to put peroxide soaked cotton balls under my arms for 2 minutes. The smell finally went away. I'm pretty sure it was hormone related....

I take liquid Tylenol. My surgery was on 11/5/15, and even though I have very little pain from the surgery, my period has decided to join the party so it was necessary. Before I bought the liquid Tylenol, I crushed 2 tablets and couldn't go it. The liquid comes with a pre-measured cup, but for some weird reason I find it daunting to take it from the cup, so I measure it with my actual tablespoon.

Fair life Skim? Where are you?
Butterball B Cat replied to TMG1980TMG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! My grocery store hasn't had the Fairlife skim for over a week. Broke down and got the 2%. Hope whatever the issue is they resolve it soon.
