Hi Loriha my appointent is at 12.15 not bringing anyone else now. Do you live near Drogheda, if so maybe you would like to come in my car. I would like some company dont fancy that journey on my own. I like to talk. Had my smear test this morning, urine test and general mot. My blood pressure is too high 150/110. I have protein in my urine and keytones so this has been sent to the lab for examination. I also have a prolapse and the vaginal linings are caving in, the doctor has recommended me to gynae and she said I will need surgery. I also have another lung infection (more antibiotics) and have to have a COD test next week for my lungs and also have blood pressure rechecked. What a crock and I still have 2 days left before I am 40.

Hi girls, I am in Drogheda Roe, but my family are all over the country. Seemingly Im going to Belfast on Friday to see Jerome and for a fill, and check up. I think I am driving. Maybe some of u are coming with me. Let me know if you are. My weight is starting to move but I feel its all my own doing. I have a very healthy friend staying with me for a few months and she is watching everything I am eating, she says I eat like a bird. I will let u all know how things go in Belfast.

Hi all, I rang acs on saturday and was told to ring back on Monday. I did, spoke with Lynn was told there would be no appointments for the next 3 weeks. I was losing it and she said she would phone me towards the end of the week with possible news of an appointment. I am livid and from what I can see the rest of you are having the same problem. I joined curves am eating less than I would if at WW and still the bloody scales isn't moving. Restriction! WHAT'S THAT? I seriously believe there is very little saline if any in my band. God knows where its gone but its not working. I don't like the feel or the look of my port it certainly isn't like Nikki's its horrible. I am so annoyed that I have had this procedure done. I am seriously worried now after reading your posts. I have appointment with my own doctor Thursday week for a complete MOT, smear test etc. My sister was diagnosed with cervical cancer 2 weeks ago in Cavan Hospital however, she was referred to the Mater and the news wasn't good. The cancer has spread to bowels and bladder as shown in CT scan and they are preforming an MRI on 10th March to see how much further the cancer has spread and starting her immediately on radiation every day for 6 weeks and chemo once a week for 6 weeks. She is only 37. I implore all of you to have regular smears as HAD she had them (she has never had one) she may not be in this mess now. Re meeting up girls I am 40 on 8th March and have previous plans. Girls night on the beer on the Sunday night in Drogheda if anyone fancies a night on the razz! I will post as soon as I have news from ACS. Promise.

Hi all, Have been working like mad its 4.30 and just got home and decided to see what news. Roe I was banded on 16/12/07 in Paris by Jerome. Anyway girls I joined curves on wednesday and cant believe it but am actually enjoying it. I was shocked however, to discover that my body water if lower by 15.2kgs than it should be. Apparently your body water should be half your body weight. So drink loads. Tea, juice etc do not suffice for water. Only 22 days left to the big 40:thumbs_down:, would love to be twiggy by then, know that I wont but am happy to know I am on the right road. The scales as started to move again, not before time:smile:. Restriction is still nearly non existant I think I will ask them to remove whats in there next time and increase fill to 5ml.

Hi everyone, Had a meeting with Helena and Ashling on Thursday with regards to the problems we experienced in Paris when we went to be banded. I found her genuine enough, she informed us that she is definitely not continuing with gastric banding. Jan will be affiliated to ACS for treatment but from what I could gather from her he is breaking out on his own and if my memory serves me right he will be doing the gastric banding in Beaumont. I wasnt in the right frame of mind on Thursday as I had some bad news the previous day and I dont know how much I took in. I had another appointment on Saturday for a fill with Lu, oh is my stomach sore, she seems to have great difficulty locating the whole in my port. I was working last night and the pain was unreal. I now have 4mls in the band, however I havent felt any difference in restriction as yet. I had no problem downing 2 cups of water straight after. She told me my diet was terrible, but i dont work normal hours and dont sleep for long periods, so how could I eat normally, but I really believe what I have been eating is good and have not been eating crap. She said you should have main meal in morning, smaller one at lunch and a paupers meal for tea. A total of 1100 calories a day. She put huge emphasis on exercise. I think I have to join curves now as I dont do any exercise, dont have much time. I am going to try it as she says I have to be down to 90K in a month when she will see me again. Thats approx 8lbs I have to loose. Her weighing scales weighs much heavier than Nikki's and put me in rotten form. I am under the opinion she wont give me another fill until I have that weight off. I have been on and off the lipotrim for a few years and the weight falls off when using it, however i was never able to reach goal but very close to it and never did the maintenance diet as my hair was falling out and I HAD to go on holidays. I love the sun. I thought and still think the weight should be coming off me much quicker. When is it really going to kick in??? Some days I am so angry I got this done, but when I read about everyone else succeeding, I think it will eventually happen to me. I hope so, my daughter gives me terrible stick about spending 10k on myself. And is watchin me like a hawk, even commenting by times that im not losing much. I was 99.6kg starting and im 93kg now.

Hi all, I have the results from ACS of my ultrasound and I have an infection around the port area but there is no puss so its a good sign and doesn't need surgery, thank god! Yan rang me back this morning. I have heard that Yan is only going to Poland for a month and will be back in March. More good news. Its an awful pity the staff in ACS are not all briefed with the same information, as it was one of their staff who said he was not returning at all. Any wonder everybody is so worrried. I think when you ring there you should only speak to someone in authority or to a name you can relate to. Anyway I am much happier now and Yan said I can have a fill a week or so after the infection clears up. So can't wait, I have only 5 weeks and I will be 40, need to have some more weight off before then. And then it will be nearly holiday time ........... so have to start losing this weight quicker

Princess, I sent you a private message, not sure if I did it properly asking you to ring my mobile. I got the results of my ultrasound from my own doctor as I requested the results be sent to her also, I have an infection which is surrounding the port, inside not on the scars, I have to continue the antibiotics which Yan perscribed and they will see me in the surgery next week. I had heard nothing from ACS up to 5.30p.m. so I rang and they told me there would be nobody to speak to until tomorrow morning. However, this wasn't good enough so I rang Onestown and eventually got to speak to Yan and he told me hadn't seen the results yet and to ring in the morning. If I needed to see him, I would have to before 1 p.m as he was flying to Poland and wouldn't be returning until March, on Tuesday he told me he was only going for 2 weeks. I wonder if he is ever coming back? I feel sorry for him as he is not the surgeon who performed the operations and he is taking all the shit, and his good name is being marred. It wouldn't suprise me if he is finished in Ireland. So we are high and dry! The only medical person familiar with the band is Lou and as you said she is a nurse. I am so unhappy and worried. I was banded in Paris by Jerome, and have been very unhappy with the treatment we received there as were the other girls who were operated with me. We have been waiting since 16th December for a meeting with Helena and that has yet to happen. She hasn't even had the courtesy to telephone any of us.

Had the scan done and there is infection around the port but doctors had to have a look at it and will send their report sometime this evening or tomorrow morning to ACS. I also have 3 large gall stones, but they can stay there as they are causing no pain. Thanks for the little prayer, say another one and maybe I will win the lotto tonight, then I can go away to the sun and recover in peace and comfort.

Last few days I have been feeling really unwell, my stomach is very swollen, quite a large red hot patch and a large dint over my port. My stretch marks have become raised and I feel something is really wrong inside cause to feel my stomach it is so different. My friend who Nikki who was banded in dec '06 was very concerned and she rang ACS as did my daughter yesterday. Anyway I had an appointment with Yan today and he perscribed antibiotics and tomorrow I go for an ultrasound in a private clinic in Santry. I am very worrried about what I have done, SO I decided I would investigate follow up treatment in Irish Hospitals. I spoke with Mr. Paddy Broe's Secretary in Beaumont Hosp and they will be more than happy to see me with a GP referral letter asap. This Doctor specialises in Bypass and Gastric Sleeve but has a lot of knowledge of gastric band. However, his Secretary also told me of Loughlinstown Hospital and I spoke with Mr. Geoghegan's Secretary and she will have an appointment for me within 2 - 3 weeks should I need one. There is also a new doctor in Galway Hospital who is doing the gastric banding. I thought I was healing well and that my scars were very slight. Since I had the fill on the 4th of January everything seems to be going down hill. Lou found it very difficult to locate my port and when she did she removed 2mls of brown stuff which she said was bethidine, and then refilled with 3mls of saline. I await tomorrows results anxiously and pending these I will decide what to do! If any of u are still up and have any suggestions please reply asap.

Hello from Dublin, Ireland

hi, Had band fitted on 17 December in Paris, through ACS, I had lost about 17lbs and had a further fill on 4th January, however feel no restriction and have gained about 5lbs even though seriously and honestly I have been very careful and conscious of what I am eating. I feel horrible, that ive wasted this money, am embarrassed in front of family and friends. Asked for an appointment and was given one for this Saturday, but its my daughters 21st so have arranged to go to see Lou on 2nd February. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? -
Hi all, At the moment I feel lousey, I was banded on 17th December and was down 17lb with 2ml. I had a fill on 4th January and still feel no restriction. Actually i am gaining weight. About 5lbs. I'm not expecting miracles but am eating only healthily and am very conscious of what I am putting away. I have appointment with Lou on 2nd February, could have had one on 26th but its my daughters 21st. My port seems to have turned and is quite sore and tender, is this unusual? I started to take vitamin tablets, vitamin c 1000, and centrum but I find the tablets huge and they sometimes feel as if they are stuck, any suggestions for other vitamins?

Haven't had a mcflurry since, computer was down due to the kids opening things they shouldn't and it was riddled with viruses. Anyway, I think things are done differently here in Ireland. We are advised from the 1st week to start on solid food. I do have restriction, but only with some meats and bread. Since banded and not from a before diet, I lost 17lb however, I have gained about 5lbs since I got the fill on the 4th of January. I don't understand. Really I have been very good and am going by the nutritionists guidelines and receipe book. Im boggled as to what is wrong. I phoned to have a further fill and they offered me 26th January but this is my daughters 21st birthday so I'm scheduled for 2nd February now. My band is an 8ml band. I have 3ml in at present. Perhaps you can throw some light on things. -
Hi im very curious, where are you having the surgery done in Dublin. Some of my friends are very interested but are not willing to leave the country as I did.

Hi everyone, I have 3mls had a fill 2 weeks after being banded as I had very little restriction if any. I can eat almost everything with the exception of meat and bread, unfortunately I drive a taxi and one of my customers keeps buying me a crunchie mcflurry with extra crunchie, as she knows these are my favourites. It can't be that bad if i stick to fish and veggies the rest of the time. Any idea how many calories are in a mcflurry? -

Hi girls, My name is Paulina, I am Irish and was banded in Paris on 17 December '08 in Paris, as the operation is no longer performed in Ireland. I am doing ok, only wish it would go faster, have loads of celebrations coming up, but sure it didnt just appear so it wont disappear.
