I hate protein shakes
heartofthetinman replied to AllyJonesVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
According to many dietitians your body can’t absorb more than 30 G protein at at time so I would suggest dividing anything more than that in four hour increments. -
I hate protein shakes
heartofthetinman replied to AllyJonesVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Unjury makes a chicken soup flavored one I like because I don’t like sweet either. 20 gram protein. -
I had my surgery in January and now I'm approximately 8 lbs under my goal weight and am not crazy about having lost too much. I'm on 70 grams of protein a day and getting in water but not the full amount. Any suggestions on how to gain back ten lbs?

When does Regret go away?

I had a friend on weight watchers who gave herself a cheat day every other week. She said it got her through and didn't make her feel like she was depriving herself. -
Losing TOO much weight
heartofthetinman replied to heartofthetinman's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I get 70 grams of protein with shakes regular food and bars. I think I am underweight. I only had 35-40 to lose. Now I dropped that and more. When does the regain start? I'm a couple pounds less than in my thirties and I'm in my fifties. -
Unjury makes what it calls Nectar protein powder that you can mix with water. Very light and you can order a sample box that has maybe 8-10 different flavor packets to try. My favorite two are peach and lemonade.

How to make water even better for you!
heartofthetinman replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Be careful with too much lemon water. It's a natural diuretic and what ob/gyns tell pregnat women to drink when they retain water. -
Read my post from today. I got one answer where the person was the same and one with suggestions that would have been better if not passive aggressive

If I was bored my stomach wouldn't be growling. I'm doing everything I should. The water I physically cannot drink all of it and same with protein. I get about 70-80 grams and can't tolerate any more. Definitely not thirsty. Just the opposite have to make myself drink constantly.

Does anyone else feel this way: What if it doesn't work for me?
heartofthetinman replied to auroradawn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
megall9 that's a load of garbage. My friend who is a nurse practitioner said over and over that it wasn't a long term solution. Well you know what? Neither is diet and exercise. Both are what you make of them long term. And frankly I don't know anyone who has kept up with just diet and exercise. -
Who was sleeved in January 2016?
heartofthetinman replied to kristennichole's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't eat breakfast either. I mix 2% milk unjury chocolate powder strawberries and spinach (I swear you can't even taste it) the night before and sip on that in the morning. Protein calcium fruit and vegetable all in one -

Hello from Europe!
heartofthetinman replied to Michael1989's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You'll find all kinds of things if you poke around on this site. I'm not saying the surgeons don't know what they're doing because they do. But it's a nasty little trend that they run as many people as possible through and after your surgery the give you no instructions no return calls by the doctor and you, my friend, are on your own. -

Ask the nice doctor about the patient he ignored for over a month until she finally had to get his attention by posting on this site. Instead of addressing their issues he went on his Facebook page and had all of them defend him. Aftercare was my issue my friend's issue and this person's issue. -
How was the plane ride after Surgery in Mexico?
heartofthetinman replied to Fat2Phat2016's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I traveled nearly 12 hours altogether. I didn't have anything but water because everything else at that point gave me diarrhea. I had tried powerade the night before but that gave me diarrhea as well. I decided I would rather be hungry than have an accident on the plane. -

What's a pouch test? -
I've made my sleeve appt for January with Dr Lopez. I have told my immediate family (husband sister and grown kids) and they are so harsh. It's not safe in Mexico. It's too major a surgery. If something goes wrong it's my own fault. It's the easy way out and not a long term solution. And they won't just have their say and stop its over and over. I want the surgery but I'm already a little apprehensive about surgery alone in another country but I feel like I have no one to talk to about my nerves because then I get the big "i told you so". And this is BEFORE the surgery. I feel like I won't even be able to recuperate and will have to act like it was nothing just so I don't get my nose rubbed in it.

Feel so unsupported
heartofthetinman replied to heartofthetinman's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Well I'm doing it on the eleventh. I'm glad to get it done but all the naysaying over time has eroded my confidence. I'm nervous now. -
Please if you read this respond. This is my biggest fear about the rest of my life. Have you had problems with this or do you know anyone who has?
