4th of July Challenge: Red, White and Blue: Whole New You!
4LoveOfLife replied to goplay94123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
180.6 as of yesterday. After losing the next .6 pounds I will no longer be obese according to BMI! -
I was sleeved 11/11/15 and am down 80# from my heaviest weight. At 184.8 I am still considered "obese" according to BMI. I'm 5'5" so when I get to 180 I will officially be just "overweight". Then it's another 30# to go to be I. The "normal" category. I worry that will be much too thin but for now am glad to still be losing (even slowly).

I am 4 months post VSG and down 50 lbs but have had unreasonable sugar cravings in the past week that I have given in to - eating hard candy, drinking small amounts of alcohol, part of a bagel, and today I got a frozen yogurt with crushed up butterfinger in it and ate about 1/2 cup and got so sick - vomited multiple times. Why am I doing this to myself? It's almost like I am testing the limits to see what I can "get away with" which is ridiculous since I KNOW that this isn't good for me long term. I am so close to being under 200 lbs for the first time in over 10 yrs. am I intentionally sabotaging myself? WTF is wrong with me?

Got my hair done on Friday and hairdresser agreed that I have lost 1/3 to 1/2 of my hair. Where I have been using the Monat there is already new hair growing in (baby fine). We took a pic of another area that was badly thinned and I am going to start applying the Monat spray directly to that area and we will take pix again next time I go in to see how much new growth has developed. My NUT also recommended increasing my protein intake from 65g to 80g and I am already seeing less hair in my brush.

Oops. Replied on wrong post.

Update: I went to a support group meeting and met with my psychologist and am back on track. Due to some hair loss and the weird intense cravings, she recommended I increase my protein intake from 65g to 80g per day (as well as get my water in). I did this and within a week the cravings subsided completely and I am now under 200 lbs for the first time in many, many years. Thank you all for your support.

I start to gain when I am not drinking enough water. If you are able to do soft foods, then adding unsweetened applesauce to your diet will help with water retention but you need to be sure you are increasing your water intake. This was one of the hardest things for me (and still is)

Curvy girl clothing issues...HELP!

Dear John brand has great curvy options for size 32 and lower. Nine West also has a good option. -
Thanks for The feedback. I have been thinking about making an appointment with the psych that I saw pre-op for a while now but haven't actually made the call. The company I work for is being acquired so there are all kinds of stress-inducing unknowns right now, and I am certain that is triggering this emo eating. This site and my post-op FB group are my support groups right now. Unfortunately the clinic where I had my surgery is a few hundred miles away so going to support group there is not reasonable. The bariatric support groups near here are very territorial and only support the people that went through their own programs.

I too am losing hair and have started using a product called Monat to help it regrow. Will let you know how it works out after a few months of use. In the meantime I am still getting my hair done.

I was diagnosed with a sinus and ear infection earlier this week and prescribed antibiotics. After a two-week period of no weight loss, I finally dropped a pound. I'm wondering if this is because of the antibiotics, or if I have just gotten past a plateau. I started exercising on January 1 as that was when I was released from my six week follow up, and was expecting to see a faster drop during exercise. 11/11 Sleever

I make this Soup and purée about half of it: 1box chicken broth/base, leeks, 1/2 pkg frozen "vegetables for soup", 1T chicken billion base, chopped chicken breast meat, paprika and ground coriander to taste. Pour it in 4 oz containers. The other half I add noodles to for my husband. -

GasX strips are a lifesaver. I dissolve 2 peppermint strips on my tongue and the gas pains disappear about 30-45 min later. -
I had a hiatal hernia repaired and have found it so much easier to breathe since the surgery. The post op pain is still there of course but I have no way of knowing whether the pain is from the sleeving or hernia repair.

WLS Scheduled For 11*10*15

New Directions' cream of chicken soup is really good if you first mix it with cold water and make a paste before adding the hot water. This keeps it from being lumpy, and I like the flavor. Another option is to boil some chicken broth with leeks for 15 min, strain it and then add the "nectar" to it. Good luck!
