Hi to all of the "regulars" and "Hi" to the "new ones". I just got back from RI. I had a great time with family. I had a new conversation with my insurance and they have paperwork now, that I asked Maritza to send. They said it will be 10 to 14 days for a decision. I cannot wait, as long as the answer is, YES. If not, I don't want to hear it. I am considering not going to Florida in case I can have the surgery during the month I would have been away. We had plans for so long, I was supposed to be done by now. But with the problems and delays I had, here I am. So, I hope I can have it sooner than later. Talk to you later. Nana

Hi Sherry, I never thought of that! I had tried to reach Medicare but there was too long a wait. Since they said if the drinks worked out they would try to get me in before my trip, I thought they had sent in to both insurances. I had to leave a message on Maritza's machine, so I will have to see what she says. Thanks for the idea. I won't be "talking" for a while on this sight. Off to RI Thanks again. Nana

Hi all, I am about to go to RI for a week and I decided to call my secondary insurance to see what was going on with them. They said they don't have any request for surgery for me.:phanvan I called and left a message with Maritza to please send the paperwork through again. Here I was hoping to get surgery in before a March trip to Flroida, and if I hadn't called, they wouldn't be aware that I am waiting. I have to say that I have had just about every hill and mountain through this process. I am so glad I am going to RI to visit with family and "cool off". I really will have to wait until after Florida I guess. I had to "vent" before I left. Thanks for listening. Nana

Hi all, I am doing fine. Whey drink was OK and I tried Proteidiet drink it was fine. Today I tried powdered goat's milk (I ordered that so that I would still have it after surgery). No matter what I put in it I couldn't cover the taste. It is awful! I don't know if I should try more or leave it alone. I haven't heard about insurance approval yet. Getting anxious. Medicare should OK it but my secondary is Commonwealth Indemnity??? Everyone sounds good. Rainbow, congrats about the picture. I can't even do the ticker at the bottom. On Sat. I am going to RI to visit family again. I won't be "talking to you" from the 4th til the 13th. Glad everyone is good. I am sorry Kay about the death in the family. That is sad. Nana

Hi All, I just wanted to say a quick Hi and tell you that the whey drink was OK. I can't believe it. And I ordered the drinks that were non dairy and the goat's milk to try. So, I might even have a variety. How is everyone else doing? Talk to you soon. Nana

Hi everyone (again), I talked to June today, and, Sherry, she said I could go ahead and order the protidiet and some goat's milk powder (to be mixed). Boy, do I feel better having some more options. I have to wait a couple of days to try the whey, I am still itchy. And by then these will come, and I will have alternatives. Thank you, thank you. I will let you know how it goes. Dez, how is your finger? John, how is the diet? Bye for now. Nana
-
Hi All, Sherry, Thank you for the protidiet tip. I looked it up. I don't know where the protein comes from, but it sounds good. I will tell June for sure. Dez, I am interested in the soup, too. Sirena63, I am also allergic to eggs, (sad), but thanks for the other tips. John, I cannot do the Ticker thing either. I have it set up on their site, but don't know how to transfer it. I can't cut and paste for one thing. Frustrating!! :phanvan Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. Nana

Hi Deb, Most protein drinks are dairy or soy. I am allergic to both. June broke down dairy even further. They have whey drinks and another product called caseinate (which I have never heard of). I tried the caseinate first figuring it so remote maybe I would be able to tolerate it but, no, I had the reaction I mentioned. Now, I am allmost afraid to try the whey. Does it figure that the caseinate is THE part of dairy I am allergic to, or will the whey bother me also. I gave myself a rest today to clear my eyes. I hope to try the whey tomorrow. But a hive showed up also. So, now, I have to wait for that to clear. Like I said it is enough to be discouraging. I even looked up goat's milk (yuk) on line. I will suggest this to June. If I can take it, will she OK it???? Leave it to me to come up with problems. Thanks for your interest. Nana

Hi Rainbow, I was feeling a little down today, but after hearing about your finger, I have no complaints. I am sorry to hear that, it sounds soooooooooo painful! The reason I am a little down, I started the protein drinks on Sunday, and, as expected, I had a reaction. I will give it a days rest and try another kind. My eyes became red and itchy and I got a migraine. I am worried. I looked up goats milk on the web today. I will have to ask June about it to see if it would be acceptable. Hope you feel better soon Deb, and Hi to everyone. Nana

Hi John, Great news!! Your on your way now.:biggrin1: That is wonderful. Keep us posted. Keep us updated. Nana

Hi cheri52, I have a few things to overcome. I am allergic to the ingredients in most liquid protein. The nutritionist told me about some that have a whey base and another base that I could try, which I am about to do. Also, I am waiting for insurance approval. If this all happened before mid Feb. I could be done then., otherwise my husband had made plans for a March trip to Florida. The plans were made assuming I would be done by now. So, in that case, I would have to wait until early April. To me, the sooner, the better. But I have to wait and see. I don't know anything about doctors on the Cape. The psychologist at Beth Israel did say there was a support group on the Cape. I could get details if you want. I find this forum a big help. What are your issues??? Nanaviv

Hi SherryW, Thanks for the eating suggestions. This is a worry for me. To Cheri52, I am in Dennis, not toooo far. I'm waiting to be banded, too. Going to Beth Israel. Good Luck to you. Keep us informed Nanaviv

Hi All, One of the questions I wanted to ask last Sat. at the get together was how often do you girls have trouble with being sick or PBing. I was at the end of the table with the newly banded so I couldn't hear a lot of conversation at the other end. I read your report Chris. I am glad you usually don't have trouble. What about the others???
-
To Kelsey, Good luck! Let us know how you are doing. Nana

To AAAMom, Thanks for organizing our get together. It was great. To Every one who went, great meeting all of you. Thanks for all of the honest info. It was a lot of fun. I hope we do it again. Nana

Hi Kelsey, I am on my way with the blood count. With 2 iron pills a day, the numbers are going up. My problem is iron defficiency. I had that problem years ago, then I had a hysterectomy and it went away. Now, they don't know why it has come back. At least because it is going up, they will do the surgery. What stage are you at? They wanted tests to see if I was bleeding anywhere. That took a couple of months, so there was a delay. So far, no bleeding, thank goodness. I hope you are on your way, too. Nana

Hi Sherry, I am so glad you finally responded, I wondered where you were. They will have to give us the whole resteraunt we will be having so much fun. And on the other site you asked what I am allergic to in the protein drink. I am allergic to dairy and soy. The things June wants me to try have whey which I don't know about. And one has something I have never heard of. And because they are different I have to order them on-line (she gave me enough for 1 day). So, I will see. Good to hear from you. Nana
-
Hi Kay, Of course, good luck!! Let us know how it goes. Nana
-
Hi All, I went to see Dr. Jones today. It is a go!! The date is tentative because June wants me to try different liquid protein foods to see how my allergies react. Some are rather different so I will have to order them on-line taking some time. So, we may be going into late March, early April. And, of course, I need insurance OK. But, Dr. Jones felt confident, so I am very happy!!!!! I can't believe we may be coming to the end of the line. I may be taking a little vacation in March or it could have been sooner. But, I have waited a long time, I can do this. Nana

Hi, I am also waiting for surgery. I have quit smoking because of a former experience. A few years ago I had a biopsy. No one told me to stop smoking. It wasn't healing properly so I went back to the surgeon. He said you are smoking. I said, yes, no one told me not to. He said, the skin doesn't "blend" back together nearly as smoothly as when you are not smoking. I had an infection under the incision that had to be cleaned out, then it healed. That is what I remember so I guit this time. I don't know how little you smoke. I was down to 1/2 pk. a day. Ask your doctor if two a day is OK. Good luck. Nanaviv

Hi Deanna, I have Lapband on the brain right now, too because I have an appointment with the surgeon on Jan. 10. My road was a little longer. I started late Aug. but ran into a snag with anemia and had to have many tests. But, the others seem to go 1 - 3 mos. Get your appts. as soon as you can because you never know. Now that I see the surgeon I believe he will argue with the insurance co. and then set a date. Good luck. It goes pretty fast. Nana
-
Hi Deanna, If I remember right the nurse will go over your background. Your meds, former surgeries, any health problems, and she talks to you about your reasons for wanting surgery. And she tells you what will come next. Between she and the doctor, they will decide if you need tests or even a surgery, like a gall bladder removal. You are young so maybe unless you have health problems, you will just go through with the appointments with the nutritionist and psychologist. She coordinates things. Good luck. Nana

Hi Chrispy, I am so glad you are bringing Sherry. I wondered why she hadn't responded to the talk so far. Also, where is Rainbow? Our BIDMC group should all be there. Looking forward to this. Is Joe's Grill visible from outside? Or which store should I choose to park near? :phanvan Getting excited. Nana
-
Hi all, I would like to consider this get together. Am I invited even though I haven't been banded? I have my date with the surgeon on Jan. 10th and have been working hard through this since August. I come from Cape Cod but would consider Braintree Mall because I think I know how to get there and I don't know how to get to too many places. And, the 13th is OK with me. If you agree that I can come, I think I could learn a lot from the girls I have been following since Aug.:phanvan Nana

Hi all, HAPPY NEW YEAR!! It is too bad KayDotRN, we will miss each other by 1 day. Thank you everyone for your good wishes. I am still very excited. I went to TickerFactory.com to try to put a chart on the bottom of my threads but then it said to cut and paste and I can't do that. As I have said I am not too good with the computer. I will try to have someone get it for me. Hope everyone keeps up the good work, and I will join you soon. :clap2: Nana
