    When is solid proteins OK

I was sleeved the same day as you. Last week I was released to soft foods. Since then I've had chicken breast, streak, burger, and eggs. Each of those have been about one ounce at a time, chewed to oblivion, and tolerated well. My NUT confided that if you chew something enough it becomes puréed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Walking, walking, and more walking. I was sleeved 28 days ago and have been averaging 3-5 miles everyday. It really makes me feel better and I'm already down 29 pounds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. So I'm three weeks post-op, food, Fluid, and Protein is going in fine. I've developed a sharp, stabbing pain near the large incision site. Dr's office thinks it is scar tissue or muscle strain and should go away within the week Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. What was the outcome? I'm having the same thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. I think that would be a great idea. I'd love to hear how other people are making it work and to share some experience with those still waiting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. All is good. I'm over the 64oz a day but I do crave food. How's your progressed? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I'm home a few days now. Before surgery I stocked up on sugar free pop cycles, chicken noodle Soup (broth tastes better to me than just "broth"), moved my recliner so it was right where I wanted it. Laid out pillows, it's amazing how much better you feel with a pillow wedged here or there when you sitting. Also walk around your house now and think of things you might bump into as you make your way around. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. My experience was very positive. The surgery was on time and I was in my room a few hours later. I was really doped up and didn't feel any pain but I was aware that I was given IV meds for nausea. Around midnight I was up for a walk. The hardest part was getting into/out of bed. That first night they wake you damn near every hour for this or that. DAY ONE POST-OP Surgeon and other doctors were in to check up on me. IV fluids continued. By that point I had only used the Morphine pump 12 times since the start so it was discontinued. I was taken by wheel chair down for the Barium swallow to check for leaks. This test is very unpleasant but necessary. Back to the room for a nap. I woke and felt good. Started the sipping of fluids in little medicine cups. I think i went for three walks during the day and slept on and of at night. DAY TWO POST-OP I was discharged today around 2:30 PM. Prior to discharge I had a couple more walks, got a shower, and dressed in sweats and a t-shirt. I was given liquid narcotic pain meds for pain. I did use a dose prior to the ride but have not needed it since. AT HOME I'm two days at home now. Pain is maybe a 2 out of 10. The hardest part still is getting up from a seated position. First day I slept a lot and only got 59 ounces in. Today I was up by 9am, my wife took me to a store so I could walk a bit more. It's almost 11:30 PM now and I'm headed to bed with 76 ounces in for the day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Good luck Beck. I'm three days post op from UPMC/ Magee and am healing normally. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Surgery Dec 1st

I had surgery on 12/1. Table time about two hours. I spent two nights post op and was released today. The pain is more gas pain than anything and I've been walking a ton. I've had no problems getting my fluids in but it's a painfully slow (sipping) process. I'm on Tylenol only for pain now and can sleep anywhere from two-three hours at a time.
