    Stairs suck!

Going down that many flight would have given me a nasty case of shin splints - ooowwwwie! Take care, you can really hurt yourself doing too much too soon!

    My Story

Good luck on Thursday, these last few days of waiting are nerve-wracking!
  3. @@josiek1988, sorry, but that doesn't work. The process of making medical necessity decisions is compliant under HIPAA. Committees don't make these decisions. Individuals do. For any health plan that is accredited by either NCQA or URAC, a decision to deny based on medical necessity has to be made by an MD with an unrestricted license to practice in the state where the member lives.
  4. You need to speak with your surgeon.

    3 days till plastics tiiiime!

I've been wondering what you've been up to! You've been missed around these parts. Best of luck with your "remodeling", can't wait to hear about it!

    Spouse advice?

I heartily concur with @@VSGAnn2014's comments. I would add this: Everyone's postop journey is different. Mine has been challenging. Huz has been incredble during it all (including a readmission tot he hospital). I'm doing much better now, but when things were not going according to plan, he didn't fret and hover and wonder whether I should be doing anything differently. That's been hugely helpful to me.

    Feeling confused

If you're feeling such restriction that getting your fluids in is a challenge, then the hunger you've got is "head hunger". Believe me when I tell you, your sleeve wouldn't let you eat enough to harm yourself at this point. You might take a bite or two, and likely it would could come right back up again.

    Calories

I just saw my doc this past week. For weeks three to six she wants me at 600-800 calories. Not cleared to work out yet and I don't return to work until the 11th.

    Helppp!

I'm at just over 3 weeks out, and I'm supposed to be getting in 600-800 calories without being cleared for working out yet.
  10. I just got an IP two days ago. I'm planning on doing some chicken cacciatore in it tonight.
  11. You both look fantastic. Love the weeping willow! My NSV for the week: starting Monday, for the first time since my surgery on 3/10, I've been able to keep food down, so I've met my Protein and fluids goals this week! And I've gotten reacquainted with a couple sweaters I haven't been able to wear in a couple years, at least.

    Terrible itch since surgery

I've got it and I haven't taken anything stronger than Tylenol since the 17th. I did develop localized skin reactions from my heparin/lovenox injections, those are fading, but inside my arms and back aren't affected by that. I did develop a rash over my chest but it never itched. I do have super-sensitive skin, everything makes me itch

    Itchy skin

@@muggzz, have you had any antibiotics recently? Both of my antibiotic allergies showed up as hives like that, and they didn't start until after I was done with the antibiotics = ten days later for one of them. I got very itchy postop, turns out I had a local skin reaction to my heparin and lovenox injections. I sure hope they ID the problem. It's maddening itching all the time!

    First time posting! Broth prep?

I don't know anything about double-straining soup, but I did make batches of chicken broth, beef broth, and a pureed veggie soup that I froze in 1/2 cup portions using muffin tins. I also made some food for Huz and froze it, since he isn't on full liquids and purees

    Vomiting food

Interesting. I had a hiatal hernia repair at the time of my sleeve surgery - it was diagnosed during my preop workup. I did develop too much swelling around the repair and was rehospitalized for a few days til that subsided and I could swallow again. So glad you're on the mend now!

    Need Lunch Box Recommendations :)

I've always wanted an old-school Stanley lunchbox with thr round top - but they're noisy as can be to be getting stuff in and out of, and with as often as I'll be eating post sleeve, well, I'm sticking with my insulated bag and collection of teeny containers.
  17. Stop worrying. If there were anything to worry about, they'd have attended to it, wouldn't they?

What Are Your Fast Food Faves?

Thank you for the info on Lee's. So these are southern-style green beans. Got it.

    Family functions post op

Another truth is that you've currently got a tricky tummy that is just plain not being very user-friendly at the moment. No implication that you're going to spread anything around, you just need to be careful.

    Ten days post op...help!

Soup. You can whirl them in the blender to eliminate the chunks, but Andersen's split pea soup doesn't have any and I love it. You can add unflavored protein powder to it.
  21. Actually, for me it isn't about the alcohol at all. It's more the all-or-nothing, "WLS patients can't be trusted to make good decisions" attitude that fries me. I'm a grownup. This is my life, my sleeve, and my health. I accept full responsibility for them.

    Why is everything sweet?

I was on clear liquids or nothing for much longer than most people, and good old Campbell's Chicken Broth was a lifesaver for me. Once I've been swallowing full liquids to purees, cottage cheese, pea soup (no added chunks), and soft boiled eggs go down a treat.

    3 Days Post Op.....

It's completely normal after any surgery for your recovery to vary. You feel great one day, you do a bit more than you had been, you feel crappy the next. That's just the way it works. Tomorrow should be better! I wasn't able to keep anything but Clear Liquids for 18 days post surgery. Two days later, I'm not only eating, everything is staying down without any trouble at all. It gets better, I promise!
  24. You know, I'm looking forward to going to several local consignment stores with a friend. She's expert at the whole thrifting thing, and I've never been, because I've been in plus sizes.
  25. Speaking only for myself, I'd prefer an occasional glass of wine to an occasional four Cookies, hands down. I'm an adult. I'm educated and capable of educating myself about the pros and cons of alcohol intake now that I'm sleeved. I neither want or need anything beyond education on the matter from my bariatric team. Like every bite I put in my mouth and every step I take toward improved fitness, these are my responsibilities for my life, and my lifetime. I neither want nor need draconian edicts in an attempt to scare me into adherence into what anyone thinks I "must" do, or not. It's paternalistic, patronizing, and unwelcome.
